Explain in your own words, what you think love is and what it means. Im having a hard time defining it myself and imput would be great. The Greeks had hundreds of differant words for it that all meant differant things. But in the english language we have one. So it would be greatly appreciated if all of ya'll would tell me what differant types of love you think theyr are and what they mean to you.

Thank you kindly. :)

Greeks had only three kinds of love, if I'm not mistaken; not hundreds.

u mentioned, u would like wolf´s words, but wolf thinks no words r better than the words of god.

enjoy thy words.

1 Corinthians 13

Love

1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Wolfy, the last thing you said is my favorite verse in the bible. I said it when i proposed to my wife. I thank you for the most exelent post btw.

Aro, I have read greek scripts 3 with hundreds of variations.

And for those of you siad that love is sex, there are other ways you can love someone. I have always thought that you can never truley love someone in one way, but there are many subtle variations on the love you feel foe someone.

Thankies

;) um right, love for my wife is the only reason ive managed to stick around this long. Without her I am emty. I respect her, I care about her and above all she completes my life so that every morning there is a smile in my face. And this conversation is starting to remind me of a George Straight song...

I walked forty seven miles of barbed wire
I got a cobra snake for a necktie
I got a brand new house on the roadside
Made out of rattlesnake hide

I got a brand new chimney built on top
Made out of a human skull
Now come on baby let's take a walk
And tell me who do you love?

That's original . . .

Anyways . . .

Love is when you find someone that you've grown so accustomed to that you cannot imagine life without them. It doesn't have to be someone of the opposite sex. For example, I could not imagine life without my parents or my sister (even though she moved out, she's still not dead). I also couldn't imagine life without some of my really good friends. Then again there's the attraction of the opposite sex, which is more lust than love, but if you spend enough time with him/her, that lust evolves into love and you won't be able to imagine life without him/her.

I think love means, that you not are after them for the sex. That you are after them for their friendship, and their love.

There is a correction for you Kyir. Good to see you out of CAU. Im all for the Master Demonologist, good unit.

By the way, dont define a word with itself.

Yes I find the largest problem (especially amonst teenagers) is the inability to differentiate lust from love. :(
