View Full Version : Help people who disconnect in game

Okay, here is my suggestion:
While in game many people may lose internet connection for a second or two and this causes them to disconnect from the game which ends up as losing the game.
So, I play on Pokerstars.net and they have a pretty cool thing. When you lose your internet connection a little pop up with a timer shows up and it gives you about 20 seconds to reconnect to the internet.
My suggestion is to put this system into TAO while people are in battles. For example, if someone is in a game and they lose internet connection. A little timer would pop up that shows time left to reconnect. When this timer runs down, the player then disconnects. But if the player reconnects before the timer runs down, they are still in the game and can continue playing.
I think this would be a great new feature for the game and would make many people a little less frustrated. So, share your opinions and any thoughts that could make it better.

Great idea man.
But, I think that would only help out dial-up users that play, wouldn't it?
I mean, I'm not sure if you can re-connect using high-speed connection, can you?

this is actually a much more complex thing than you realize
TAO doesn't have any coding to re-sync your comp when your dc, or have a connection problem. This is why you dc.
Your connection type doesn't matter, the coding is the same no matter whether you have dialup, DSL, cable, t1 lines, etc. The server just streams the information between itself and your comp (it doesn't know or care what your connection type is, it just sends/recieves info), if the stream gets disrupted for whatever reason it would attempt to re-establish the connection.
TAO doesn't have that. If the stream of data gets disrupted it simply drops your connection.

Actually, TAO DOES have that now. That is what causes some accounts to sit there in the game or lobby after a person DC's from it. The game tries and lets them reconnect, even though it already dropped the connection, and refuses to let them back in.
Ok, I should have said TAO TRIED to have that.

Then maybe they should make it so it works. ;)
