The new blocking system sucks i have tried it out today, some of it i dont understand and some bits i do, like the -7 and all this and my scout still blocked, i think there should be a thread about the blocking system and tells you what it does and what the - and + means and how much % adds on to the normally blocking, and i am in battle now my scout was on -50 and it still blocked from the front. ;)
Edit: i just had -150 on a knight wtf.

does this (http://www.tacticsarenaonline.com/forum/showpost.php?p=776283&postcount=40) make things any clearer for you?
and once again, the blocking HAS NOT CHANGED in any way.
you just see how everything really works now.

how has the blocking changed at all?

It hasn't.
All it does now it show what happens to the percentages when a unit blocks or gets attacked.
This will just make me update the game.....

So the blocking is the same? well i just got a 100% hit on a knight and it was from the front.

I have a question.
If the blocking has not changed at all, like many people have said, How is it possible that the other day i got hit 4 times in a row from side with knight. That would be impossible with the new system?

The new system got put on yesterday or today i think, i was on last night and it wasn't on i dont think, no one told me about it.

I think the blocking sucks, it should be turned back to the old one, but with less luck.

I have played it a little today also. From what I understand there has not been a change to the blocking just the fact you can see its %. (although it makes no sense to me either.) I have had multiple instances where I had either outrageous blocking or no blocking at all.

It was 100% before, you just didn't know it. After a unit blocks, their percent to block decreases, sometimes from 80% to block to 0% to block.

I am guessing from what you wrote that an opponent was hitting one of your golems 4 times in a row. That, or there were multiple units being attacked.

Or you can tell them all one easy thing :
deal with it
If you dont enjoy change, then dont play, simple as that, if you truly are strategic you would find a way to get around it, and play with it, instead of complaining about it.

THE BLOCKING SYSTEM DIDN'T CHANGE! IT JUST SHOWS THE PERCENTAGES FOR EACH SPECIFIC HIT!

You're not paying attention.
The blocking has ALWAYS been like this, you just didn't see the changes in the system odds and % on the display.
The odds, % adjustments and such havn't changed in the actual game, you can just now see them on the display.

Not always, but for the last ~2years.
Seed installed the "new" blocking a long time ago.

just dont look at it. play the game like u woul dbefore not cause someone has -90 blocking.. I dont understand it it should go back to how it was but if not im ok with the ne change
Jeffery

Actually, DO look at it. Use it, and your game play will get much better.
If a unit had 80% blocking -90, then guess how much their blocking percentage is? That's right, time to play Wacka-Mole, and not have to guess at all.

aye, this makes it a lot easier for me to calculate the chance to hit now, as before it was a lot of assumptions on the percentage changes

ok i know they were always like this but i just want to say i dont like this. the way i see it is mages will block more now and knights less. hello bomb again.

The blocking system makes compensations, basically lowering blocking chance when a unit blocks too much, or raising it if it doesn't block enough.
Some players understood how to calculate this compensation, allowing them to predict hits or blocks sometimes. To be more fair, the bonus to blocking is now shown to everyone.
~ Seed
According to that the system didn't change, it just shows the diffrence.
The truth is, there was a slight change. The full changes;
The diminishing effect was added, and the calculations for blocking percentages were modified to remove a bug where sometimes the side blocking chance became higher than the front chance. Also, the actual compensation values for how much blocking chance is raised or lowered, is now displayed in game.
The deminishing effect is;
In this system, blocking is still random in the sense that even if you know that a Knight should almost always block 8 out of 10 consecutive attacks, you can't know for certain which 8 it will be. Also, if a unit blocks too much and the system lowers its blocking chance to 0%, this does not mean that the unit must be hit once before it can block again. With the diminishing effect, eventually it will revert to its base blocking chance if it is not attacked.
Even though I know that the blocking hasn't realy changed, it seems like it has to me... Maybe I was just getting realy amazingly unlucky, but I lost to someone because his scout blocked 2/9 shots, most which were fromt he side, along with a front knight hit on my knight, and a couple other surpriseingly lucky hits. For pretty much the first half of a long game, he didn't miss a single shot.

Is the change really helping out people though, or making noobs more confident? I just played a guy who thought he was going to win soley because he thought he'd found a new "secret" to the game. It was kind of funny.

yeah it's like when I go to legends and pwnz the crap out of their greys with a dropless form because they are overcomfidence and think their rare drop units can save them, when they haven't actually learned any SKILL in the game.

Alot of people actualy havent caught on, many of them think that the blocking system was completely redone from scratch. I know this because I see people bitching about it all the time on TAO. I guess it probably was stupid for me to post here though, concidering the reason they didn't catch on was probably that they don't use the forums, otherwise the answer would be right infront of their face, wouldn't it?
Anyways, it never hurts to have a new explanation for those that didn't know yet, or didn't understand. I see no reason to bitch about providing information, even if it can already be found on the same site, since its in a thread thats already been made for that topic.
