View Full Version : Suggestion to balance number of users on servers

There seem to be a lack of players on the Great Lakes server, as compared to Armageddon, and I think Banff. As the default option for the server to logon to is Armageddon, most new users will go straight there.

I suggest that the default server is changed between the three of them on a weekly basis.

It seems very rare that more than one or two floors are filled on Great Lakes now. The only time that the "server full" message appears is when the server is down.

Being a gold member, on Great Lakes, I'm not interested in the other servers. It would be nice if a few more people played on it.

GL will hold the default spot for a few weeks then it will go to Banff, this way each server gets fresh players and stays busy.

If it can be automated reasonably easily, then I suspect changing on a weekly basis would be best. This way, each server starts at a different time of the month for successive months. As the greys are deleted at the end of the month, it would be a new default server each month, and all servers would be default for at least part of the month.

This would not work very well if a fourth server is added, or one removed though.

Also, if the change has to be done manually, that would just be an annoyance to alter every week. Only really effective if it can be done automatically.

Why not?
4 weeks in a month, 4 servers. It could work.

This is a cool idea.

I wish you would have let us know first.
I got several messages from clan members on my IM programs that their account had been deleted.
I had to look into it, but we figured it out. :)

Based on a month being exactly 4 weeks, it would mean that one server has a weeks worth of default new users for the full month, and one server would only have the extra users for the last week of the month. Most months are just over four weeks long, so there would be some cycling, but it would be very slow. It would take a full year to cycle through all the default servers for the months.

I suspect many users are most likely to go gold after winning a good drop. This is most likely to happen to users who get in on the game early in the month, rather than in the last few days. I went gold because I got a second cleric, and didn't want to lose it.

Last night was only the second time that I've seen a cleric drop. Although, last night, after chatting in the lobby for a bit, I played somebody who had six clerics (I created a grey account, so he could show the truth of it, and neither of us would have to take a loss for the game). He didn't show them all, but he has won somewhere around 15 units in drops.
