HTML & CSS
I tried to learn Javascript and PHP a while ago, but I didn't have much use for it and I currently have no motivation to learn it.

I never really concidered it programming though. I just thought of it as coding.

Try downloading python at www.python.org (I almost typed .com, but thats a porn site)... Python is a good, simple, beginners lanugage. It also has plenty of tutorials.

and ActionScript, VisualBasic, PHP, ASP, and probably a hundred other scripting languages.

Most of the ones you listed are pretty much dead languages.

Might as well list machine language and binary while you're at it.

I was actually hoping for some examples.

Executables or some source perhaps.

HTML and CSS are almost as bad as basic...

I mean, my little sister can do HTML and she can't even work trillian.

Someone asked for me to create one.

I'm really curious who asked you (instead of making it themselves) to actually make this topic.

you forgot a lot, actually, because there are a lot of different languages...

There's really no decent way to group coding into broad categories. Someone who only knows C will not know how to code in OpenGL, despite the fact that it is a very popular graphics aspect of C++ (I believe Seed made one of his games in OpenGL).

I would have recomended you focus the thread around coding help, advice, etc. Comparing the proverbial coding penis size I believe is already a thread elsewhere. ;)

EDIT:I'm really curious who asked you (instead of making it themselves) to actually make this topicThe same thought crossed my mind as well. Our Coder here has a habit of psuedo-intellectual masterbation, as seen by several remarks along the lines of "but no one else in this community can code besides me" and his "no one can crack this code" thread.

html formatting isn't the same as writing html.

if she can actually code an entire(robust) website from scratch in notepad, then sure, she can "do html"

Programming is only for the gifted geeks and hot Russians.

Yeah, I definitely know some stuff too. I mean, I once downloaded and installed a windows update all by myself. I'm so glad I finally became a computer wiz just like you, the bird!

i'm not a computer wiz at all and btw wack-head this really did happen last year. it took me 2 hours to get my internet modem back up and running. first i just used the disk from bell south, that didn't work, then i tried to re-set it by pressing that botton on the modem, that didn't work so i just used command prompt to reset it.
edit: i'm going to learn how to use java this month.

I can do some java, a little javascript, some css and html, but you can't really count those. I know a bit about C+ and VB, though I haven't used VB much at all. I'm currently learning about PHP and SQL, and I know a bit of Actionscript, as people around here know.

I'd need more info before making a decision.
What's the site for?
What kind of page design are you looking at having?
What kind of support are you going to need?
