How about adding the common cheats to /kick
What other use is there for the common browser close commands than to trick someone into using them.
Also add in phrases like chess expert, etc. So the person trying to say it gets kicked. It will make for a great few days watching stupid @sses get kicked over and over. Will help boost my grey to 1300!
Thanks.

i think seed should just add a section on this site containing some of the things cheaters will try to use to boot opponents, with an area for people to send some things thats not listed.

Most people dont navigate even 3 pages deep.
Lots of people just are linked to the play page from other website and adverts.
Few people who play this game even visit these forums.
Therefore, few people would find the list.
They already have a kick and filter ### list.
It is not a big deal to add more words.

I think it's a pretty good idea. But the downside is it would take alot of time to find out all the things people say to try to get you kicked. Chess expert is often said to n00bs so they can get kicked, becuase it has the word "sex" in it. Think of all the other things people could make up with "sex" or any other forbidden word in it. The best way to avoid falling into a n00b trick is to know what words are forbidden and to know how to report people.

Not to mention Seed does not handle this website. So he wouldn;t be the one to add anything to it.

I'm thinking legends, sorry. I play there more than here. But yeah i guess the kind of people that fall for that stuff wouldnt be surfing the site. Basically all i recommend is saying "hey" and leaving it at that. Dont write anything your opponent says.

Nah, if Bills (or whomever) watched this thread and people posted them and they were then confirmed by an Admin or Mod, then they would be listed in two places. Once here as an informational thread and effective in the game based on a monthly update.

Actually, people who fall for it once quickly learn not to. And the vast majority of them are people who never looked beyond the "Play Now" page.
Only the intelligent style player looks at the pages for how to play, and they usually are not stupid enough to fall for tricks more than once.
If you are having this big of aa problem with people tricking you, maybe you should consider buying som INT potions?

Regardless about how smart or dumb a person is, this is economics.
The owners of the game should care about economics.
The new person finds a link from a place like http://www.addictinggames.com/ where they literally have thousands to choose from.
They link over to Tactics where in their first game, the person tells them about the beginner special, just hit F5 to get a customized set-up, extra pieces, whatever. Bang.... their booted.
They go WTF and log back in. Next game, they get in the person says they are doing a report on Africa and can not remember the name of the country that Starts with N. Nigeria? BANG.. booted.
If you LUCKY, you get that player back a third time.
The next player does an assassin bomb. WOW!, the new player asks them how they did it. The person says they have to be wounded and then type in Chess Expert with no spaces as an easter egg. Here, let me show you. Shoot yourself in the back with an arrow twice, I wont attack since I am so nice.
The person does it while the lamer passes his turn. Then the guy types in Chess Expert and KICK-A-ROO.
This not only reflects bad on the game for not using existing functionality to filter cheating, but it allows the TAO community to continue to look like a majority are a-holes. When I play I generally just host a tile and let whoever wants to join. I have had nights where 3 or 4 games in a row people have tried cheats on me.
By this time that person is done with TAO and goes back to find another option in this thousands of options. There is no change that that person ever upgrades to Gold.
That is economics. Loss of potential playing members vs known and easily defeated cheats. Easily solved by expanding the /kick and /#### filter on an ongoing basis.

Look, It is a simple solution to an ongoing problem.
It is just pretty lazy not to be helping out newer players with a mechanism that is already in place and could be enhanced with very little effort.
And every player lost is one less potential opponent.
Yea, ideas never get implemented....
But that is not to say something noted should not be posted and/or defended.
No need to be a dillweed about it.

I'm not the ones who have CONSTANTLY over the entire history of TAO again and again proven that things like this are wishful thinking.
Yes, it is lazy to not help customers or potential customers out. But since November of 2003, it has been the way TAO is run.

I believe thishas been suggested before, and it's unlikely it'll be done. However, you can report people who use those cheats as boosters to a mod.

LOL, Jeff you like that quote, dont you?
Anyway shaman, it would be easy to get around becuase cheaters are consistently changing their ideas. If they block chessexpert or tacticsexpert, then cheaters will create new ones... Thus it would be a never ending cycle.
As previously pointed out, most people dont navigate TAO, so making a page with common ideas would be pointless. People who lack the intellect will have it happen once, maybe twice, and then wisen up.
EDIT: Shaman, how have you been here since Jan of 04 yet you dont even know that Bills owns FPS?

Cheaters, in general, are inventive people when it comes to what they do.
The cheaters here, however, are notoriously uninventive and show a lack a creativity here. I'd bet that minimal effort against them would eliminate a large percentage.

Yea. And what'd happen for the most part, Is one way to DC your opponent would get popular. you just block that, and wait a while...

I did not mention anything about ownership, anywhere.
Seed or Bills may, or may not, be required to manage the /kick list.
If the list is server hosted, then anyone with server access and appropriate rights would have the ability to manage the list.
My apologies if someone else listed it before. I did neglect to do a search.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing. :D Once you have the cycle of suckiness down, then you can time your /kick list updated so you are not doing it too often, but just often enough.

supposition based on a lack of information
ALL of the things I see getting complained on about cheaters have been in the game pretty much from the get-go of the filter. There hasn't been anything new or creative in how people behave in this regard for well over a year.
What exactly are you basing this premonition on?
I'm not saying it won't happen, just that there's nothing to support a dismissal because of such reasoning.
