If we do our intro's in the noob sections, it'd serve practical purposes to move the rest of the crap threads like that there.
All the stupid "i'll cya," "sorry," "happy birthday" and other such contrite stuff should just be moved there. Maybe that'll finally discourage you attention deprived kids from doing them, as far fewer people bother looking at threads there and they will vanish from coating the front page of the GD section for weeks at a time.

why don't do ppl put some attention on this kind of treads, that in fact are helpful and contribute to the TAO forums, instead of making huge that kind of treads we are discussing in this one. I just wonder
Maybe moderators don't care about this kind of things although they should:rolleyes:

Why doesn't someone just make a BIG goodbye thread, for everyone to post their goodbyes and crap like that in either the Newbie Board, or if you want, GD. It would be smarter thyan having a single thread for every goodbye.

Because people like to pretend they're special, they don't want to congregate and put all their BS in one spot where they'll lose that attention they garner.

Sorry* Couldn't help it
Eh... I think a move would be best. The goodbye thread would end up not in use, and everyone would make their own egotistical goodbye thread anyway.
The sorry threads, hm... They could stay. I mean, the person is (usually) truly trying to earn respect back, and regrets what (s)he did.

Do those threads bug and hurt you that much?
I don't really see a big issue, I mean I am part of many other forums. And they could care less.

Well they can just deal with it. I don't care if they want attention or not, they can put their Bull in that thread! ;)

hurt, no, bug, yes
I have a problem when every dumbars feels the need to make a "cya, I'll be gone for the next 2 days" or a "i'm sorry for that typo I made on 4/17/05" thread, and half the GD page is taken up with such crap.
Of course, if I was alone in this problem, I wouldn't make a thread on it (just grumble about it). However, it's just been pretty unanimous, aside from the losers who make such threads, that people would prefer to see such things locked or moved.
I'm just presenting moving them as a preferable to simply being honest in the "nobody gives a rat's ars" ideology and locking them. After all, the people who make such things are digging for that attention, and are likely insecure. We wouldn't want to hurt their feelings too much, they might cry and cut themselves.

Well, I do understand where your coming from. I do agree that these trends should stop.

That's a good view on it. It's even better than condensing all the good-byes or birthdays into one thread. Good suggestion.

If a goodbye thread was made, I think it would be posted in non-stop. Because forumers will see their fellow forumers post there and think that "they" are the one's leaving when they are really just posting to say goodbye to one of the other forumers, everyone would be reading it getting worried, lol.

theburning has been active lately, policing siggys(mine:( ) and what not
I totally agree with this megabyte, I also think that anyone who makes a thread saying "goodbye, I'm leaving" should be banned from the game. They're leaving, what harm does it do?

I agree, a "personal" subforum for all the people who want to post anything pertaining to themselves or someone in particular (leaving, birthday, appologies, etc) can go there. It's really silly we need to see the guiséd spam.
