How do I use A .gif file as my signature?

I've seen other people with them, and seeing as to how I'm a complete dolt when it comes to things like these I'm at a complete loss as to how I would go about doing it myself.Help,please?:(

Just have someone make you a banner with animation on it, save it as a gif, host it on imageshack, and copy and paste the hotlink into your signature,put the [.img] (picture url here)[./img],dont put the periods in though, and you're done. My favorite .gif image:

The problem is, when I host it with imageshack, it saves it like a picture, it stops moving:unsure:

I'm thinking I saved the file to my computer incorrectly...I just dug this out of an old e-mail,the same things happening with photobucket

Yeah, if you used photoshop to make it, you have to open image ready and do a Save Optimized As...

I didn't make it in the first place, and don't have photoshop anyways:( .By the way...I fixed the problem, but now I can only upload it to photobucket, and photobucket shrinks the hecks out of it, and screws up another part of it.

I forwarded the email that was sent to me giving me the gif files, the one I want for my siggy is the first one of the two(the longer one, in case they switch orders), and thanks I really appreciate this.
