Rules

There are four groups of six players each. Each player is to play everyone else in their group once and once only. Players recieve 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 for a loss. The top four players in each group will advance to round two.

Round one ends at 10 PM EST, Sunday June 11th, 2006. Unplayed matches result in losses for both players, unless it's obvious one has been trying to get in touch with the other, in which case that player gets the win by default. So make sure to post here if you're having trouble getting ahold of your opponents.

It's up to you to arrange times to play your matches! 5 planned battles in two weeks isn't hard, but it will take a bit of time, so get going on the PMs and looking on Revelations for your opponents.

EDIT: Round 2 will be seeded so that the people who score the most points in Round 1 will be up against those who score the least. So, every match counts!

EDIT 2: Because some people are withdrawing, seeding scores are going to be fractional (games won/games played).

I think I had a very good chance at that game... I quake next turn and move my beasty in. I get 2 quakes out of my mud and I have my bers and beast already there and move in my drag and ga... I think I had the game won.

Geeky vs. Draq: I'm going to think about it for a minute. My current thoughts are leaning towards a rematch. I'll decide in an hour or two.

Harder groups vs. easier groups: I should've seeded the groups by ranking or something, I guess >_<. Sorry. It truly was randomized, but if anyone's got an issue with me being in one of the easier groups, I can do... something? In any case I'll probably get knocked out first round anyhow :p

Unless anyone else has something to add, my call for Geek vs. Draq is that it was too close to make a definitive decision. Only one unit down on each side, and though someone was likely about to get killed there, I can't tell who. To my mind, Draquist has the advantage there, but he had the DC so I'm certainly not going to give him the game.

So, you guys can do one of three things:

1) Call it a draw, each player gets 1 point.

2) Geeky gives Draquist his stats back and takes the win, as Draq proposed earlier.

3) Play the match over again, using the same forms and giving first turn to whoever got it before. If you can't agree on something, this is what it ends up being.

Sorry to anyone who feels ripped off by this.

It was totally randomized. What you mean is I should've balanced it more, and I agree, but it's a bit late to change that now :p

For future reference, what's a better way of doing it? I don't really like the idea of doing it by stats but it's one way to make sure things turn out a bit more even. I could also just randomize a few times and pick one that looks most balanced, I guess...

Those were my thoughts originally. However there's still a chance of getting grouped with 4 really strong players (i.e. group one).. and people seem generally unhappy with how the distribution worked out.

Either way, in the end, the best man will win. And this is all strategy, everyone is using basically the same sets, you cant complain and say "oh this isnt fair, I have to play someone thats better than me." If you say that, you might as well of not even joined.

err lets consider the following: your drag was probably a little above 30 hp, meaning without my missclick with my ga, your drag was dead due to its wait and your clerics wait. one final blow with my drag to yours, it woulda been a different game. i mean a couple of easy hits to your "defenceless" units, with most of my units in your area, i'd say it wouldnt of been "i had u beat" all along, probably more of a close ass game. but what can i do, u won fair and square.:cool:

I feel myself compelled to withdraw from this tournament because of my own mistake.
I played my first two games in a state where I was not really coherent. It wouldn't be fair to give anyone such an advantage. Plus, give everyone in my group a win against me. My level of play was substandard, and I won't hold my opponents to a dobule standard. Sorry guys. This isn't to insult the playing of either Magician or Punishment; they both played very well. I just wouldn't feel right finishing the round. I also have little time to play with five final projects and five final tests to study for.

EDIT: I'm not exactly sure how to handle things from here. With monkus it was easy because he only played two matches and lost both. IBM played 4 of his 5 games and won them all.

I'm thinking to mark IBM's match vs. kyrios24 as 0 for both players, and then take the top 4 remaining from that group, except one of those could well be me which somehow doesn't seem right. The other thing I thought of was to take the top 3 from that group, and then out of all the people that didn't make it to round 2, bump the person with the highest score up.

Suggestions?

Sorry everyone I've been really busy with baseball and school. Im in the Ontario championships for baseball and I've missed like 5 days of school because of it. So I really only ever have 10-20 mins to spare on here seeing as I have culminating activities due in 3 classes worth 15-30% of my marks. Double post, but I want to bump this FWIW:

If no more matches are to be played, here's what's going to happen:

Group 1: monkus and allstar eliminated, both backed out.

Group 2: I BEAT MATHEWS and Biohazard77 eliminated. IBM backed out. HoRNeT and Biohazard77 are both tied for last with 0, however, HoRNeT has played much more games, and shown a more active interest in the tourney. If Bio77 can get a game with HoRNeT (who I know is around) and win it before the deadline, HoRNeT will be out and Bio will advance. As well, if bio plays HoRNeT and loses, but also plays and beats me and the bird, he will advance, but this seems very unlikely at this point in time.

Group 3: Teacher and /\wolfrider/\ are eliminated. Teacher has the lowest score in the group. wolf is tied for 5th with Alaric, however Alaric has played more matches and shown a better interest in the tournament, at least to start.

Group 4: Jax'D and Smiley_Girl are eliminated. Both tied with 0 points.

If someone has a problem with this or finds it unfair, bring it to my attention IMMEDIATLY.

There are still about 3 hours to get games in. If you have plans to play a game after then, or have started one but don't think it'll finish in time, post ASAP.

If you have nothing to add to the outcome of this round, please don't post here, so it won't notify me. Round 2 will be up in a few hours and you can chatter all you want in that thread.

In your group yes, although because I'm calculating the seed scores as a ratio between games won and games played, Geeky places just a bit higher than Draq. EleMENTAL gets first overall, playing 4 games and winning them all.
