I was thinking of six different elemental stances for each unit. It wouldn't effect the unit's attack, per se, but the unit could deal extra damage to a unit of the opposite elemental stance. The elements would be.
Angelic (Light)
Demonic (Dark)
Inferno (Fire)
Water (thinking of "cooler" name)
Zephyr (Air)
Gaia (Earth)
The units would do normal damage to units of a non-related stance, and less damage to a unit of the same stance.
So whaddya think?

kind of like Rock-Paper-Scissors, except more complicated. That seems to be a popular method of gaming as of recently. I think it would be a good idea, but how would it be coded? is it possible, Bills?

That is actually a pretty good idea.
Coding that wouldn't be THAT hard as well.. but would require a big rewrite of the battle resolution code...

Well, This site is still in its fledgling days. I guess after it has solidified itself, maybe the site mods could add it.

I hope they actually do that idea, but would there be a different elemental power for every unit, or units coming in any elemental power? eg. you could get a zephyr pyromancer and a demonic one?

ya i think that would be a good idea maybe for water u could use aqua or sumthin
but shouldn't it be slightly more against unit of othe type and slightly less against unit of same type? Otherwise, you're just playing with a disadvantage.

Ya each unit would come randomly. (Except contraptions, they are neutral) Golems would be Gaia, Water, Gaia, respectively.
Gotta think of a cooler name for water! (I've been searching of Thesaurus.com a lot, but I cannot find one!)

no. in your post it said that you had no advantage with the types at all. for instance water is more effective against pyro, and less effective against water, and lightning ward is more effective against water.

Something to keep in mind is...
I think a lot of the appeal of this game is its simplicity. The process of downloading, reading the website tutorials, and then playing is completed in a matter of minutes. It's turn based but turns take mere seconds to complete. A lot of these ideas are good ideas, but I think over-complicating the game would be fairly detrimental. It would make the learning curve steeper, turns would take longer, and I think it would be less friendly to the casual player as a whole (a free online game like this will consist largely of casual players). There certainly is a balance that must be struck between cool features and simplicity, I feel like an implementation like this might not work out for the best.

uh, could everyone please get back on topic here? Oh, and to AzN, every unit would be a random type, chosen when (or if) the feature is implemented. I was also thinking that the element would change the unit's name, like a witch of the Inferno stance would be called an inferno witch instead of a dark magic witch, or a Zephyrmancer instead of a pyro mancer.

man i like this, but instead of a name change just put i subtext under the name of the unit like "knight" then under it "demonic".
AND/OR you could make it so that units would glow with a faint aura of their element, such as inferno glows red, demonic would be darker than normal etc.
I think a lot of the appeal of this game is its simplicity
and as for making the game more complicated than it should be, thats bs. this game is basically a really cool chess, and chess is at the same time very simple and very complex as you get better and better at the game. This is a strategy game right? this would add a deeper thought and planning element to the game. This little gem of an idea i hope to see in the future.

We have people trying to strip even the idea of blocking away, how can we think to make it more complex with elements though?

Not a good idea. Too complicated and makes the game less tactical, because you should be killing units based on your strategy, not because it is the easiest to kill.
