The Shaman is a mystical being, able to delve into the realm of spirits, and bend unseen powers to his will. A Shaman is a capable foe, in life and in death.
HP: 34
Armor: 0%
Power: 22 + Unblockable
Range: Any 1 unit within 1 tile.
Blocking: 40%
Movement: 3
Recovery: 1M / 3A
(I realize the recovery breaks convention, but I think it's appropriate)
If the Shaman dies, a new unit is put in it's place:
Shaman Spirit
HP: -- (Indestructable)
Armor: --
Power: --
Range: 0
Blocking: 0%
Movement: 3
Recovery: 1M / --A
Shaman Spirit does not count as an end of game piece.
Shaman Spirit steps aside for enemy units.
Shaman Spirit may occupy the same space as any other unit. At the start of a players turn, any units that occupy the same space as the Shaman Spirit recieve the ability: Haunted.
A unit that is haunted has - 20% attack, - 20% blocking, (Equals a -10% chance from the sides.) and cannot engage focus. (This does not break focus, just prevents it from starting)
A haunted unit that begins a turn that is NOT occupied by Shaman Spirit loses the haunted status effect.

So they have to be directly on top of the haunted square for this effect to take place? Or just walk through it?
I like unit, seems balanced.
Nice work :)

nice unit but the spirit is a bit overpowered right now. is there any way to 'banish' the spirit after it haunsts someone? its indestructible after all and other than blocking its path theres no way to stop it haunting someone. haunt a DT drops it attack to a puny 21 and its blocking to 14% front. and thats to 1 of the tougher units. this could cripple any army especially end game if you cant banish it.
or am i just being stupid and the shaman doesnt move around with ahaunted unit but just haunts while they occupy the same space?

You're just being stupid.

A haunted unit that begins a turn that is NOT occupied by Shaman Spirit loses the haunted status effect.

interesting, very interesting.
the main problem i see with this is that the shaman could be ridiculously powerful in a rush setup. just charge in, deal 17 dmg to a knight and get killed, and then use the ghost to screw the enemy cleric (either have its power reduced to 9 or take a 5 turn recovery, nasty). the fact that it is quite weak in defence plays as an advantage and a disadvantage.
i have 2 main suggestions -
1) add some sort of positive effect to the haunting. this would give the unit a lot more tactical diversity as it could be used on both your own units and your enemies and would require much more strategic use. i think the spirit should have very weak effects due to the fact it is invulnerable, otherwise it would simply be too powerful as a deterrent from killing the shaman at all.
2) give some kind of way of either destroying the ghost permanently (eg a cleric healing a haunted unit) or of reviving the original shaman again (eg a haunted unit being killed whilst haunted).

Spirits would spell trouble for lightning wards, too. Nonmagical attacks get through, then?

I don't like anything that's indestructible.

Walrus might be correct.
The main attack is powerful, but unwieldy. A 4 recovery is enough to make the actual attack power much weaker than 22.
I like the idea of the Spirit being on the board, and being Indestructable, it's not a widely used concept, and isn't as powerful as the name implies.
However, being Indestructable, it might be a stitch too effective. I've lowered the blocking and power negatives to - 20% a piece. It's enough to still make the Shaman a viable piece to put in a formation. Anything less would make it pale in comparision to other existing units and ideas.
