How to make a name you won't regret?

Netjak has been good to me, but I'm afraid I have my own aspirations. I bet you're thinking, "Oh, great, deleryn's going to clutter TAO with another noob clan." Well, sorry to dissappoint, but that's exactly what I'm going to do--albeit with some style. The mega-clans, stat requirements, and the ranking wars are great, but I more thoroughly enjoy taking a fresh mind, studying it, training it, and watching it develop. Newbies aren't so bad, in most cases, if you get to know them. So I want to make a clan that is centered on the people who are sort of lost in the expansive world that is TAO. And with cyberers, scammers, greyjumpers, 1337ness, n00bs, and spammers all around, sometimes I wonder how I even got accustomed to this place.

But... I don't know what to name this clan. Really, how do you make a clan name without wanting to change it?

I don't want it to be retarded, yet I want it to advertise the service I would enjoy to provide. It would be great if there were some kind of ring to it. Something classy and witty would be ideal. I really wish dirka was around to suggest something with his propaganda know-how.

Anyways, once I can think of a name, it'll be all good. It's tough to manage a clan without a gold account with the lobby chat timeout and disconnects, but I've had practice and I think I can handle it. And if any players from the forums want to come help recruiting, give advice to unskilled players, or just light up all the poser clans on Army, I'd be honored to have support from your greys. :D

Lately I'm on as nooblade and I acquired a noob clan called "DarkMancers" that I'll use until I decide on a better name. Btw, thanks to Retodd for offering me a better named clan.

But the name's gonna cook my noodle for a while...

Well, first of all, make sure there are no sexual references in the name.

Secondly, make the name original. There's enough "Knights" or "Assassins" clans in TAO.

Well, hope you arent on GL, as thats what we at Something Wicked provide for new players...

But if you want a name that speaks to what you do... maybe just stick to the name "in training"

I'll put an "in training" tag below their names in game... that'd be kinda neat for new players. Could make them a target for stat whores, but could make people aware and try to teach them some tricks in game...

Of course, you could just join Something Wicked.... ;) I can always use fellow people willing to take the time to show new players the basics of:

Not attacking EVERY time you move a unit
How to use the Assassin's Special attack
How units have shorter recovery times if you don't move them (ie CLERIC)
How to change formations, and where to get a lightening ward
the basic disconnect tricks some people use, and how to avoid them
as well as basic tactical knowledge that newbies crave

That's not such a bad idea, but I also don't want to make it unnatractive for people who don't have the same faith.

Actually, that is a pretty good name! I mean, everyone knows what it is... and it even has a nice sound to it, I like it a lot. And it is precisely the point you want to make!

I say, Good Samaritans all the way! But if you want it to sound a little... stronger... you could just be called the Samaritans. Get rid of the "good". We'd still get the connection, and it would sound more hearty.

(just remember, you dont want to be a clan leader if you're grey... you mentioned someone else making the clan for you... so, just remember that if you're grey you'll lose the clan at the end of the month.)

I know that! The same gold is going to store it for me. And since he's in netjak, he prolly won't care. But the timeout on the chat will be annoying...

Samaritans sounds good, though. I think I'll stick with that.

Nordic/Viking hyistory has some pretty cool sounding names. I would find a historical culture that interests you, then find a word that appeals to you and has a cool meaning.
