The other night I was watching reruns of season three of 24. I cannot get enough of Jack torturing people. He is about as cool as they come. Later that night I started playing through Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for the eighth or ninth time. Watching Snake stay calm in yet another hijacking of another new Metal Gear prototype, I realized that there are very few up to par with his level of radness.

Then the thought hit me: Who would win in a fight of badassness? Jack Bauer, or Solid Snake? They're both easily on the top of the badass foodchain, there is nobody who can top them there. But who gets the top spot? I really can't choose.

What do you think?

Yes I realize that technically the image is not Snake, but actually Big Boss. But that was the coolest picture I could find. And if you want to be super technical, it's the same person since they have the same exact genes. So hah.

Jack Bauer is mega cool. There is no denying that. He kills to no end and goes to extremes in his trade - that being death and ass kickings. He is very up to par with Snake. Nuclear bomb hijackings, rogue terrorist orginzations, hell, the last season even ended with him on an oil tanker about to be killed. Very similar to Snake.

His real name is "Dave." Solid Snake is just his badass codename. Jack had one too when he was in the special forces.

You also have to consider that Solid Snake fights Metal Gears (http://www.pd.net/~hanzo/co08.jpg), giant mechanized nuclear armed tanks. Whereas Jack Bauer fights these (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a3/Osama-med.jpg).

Well, The metal gear story lines aren't believable, they are just good video game stories. 24, while not completely realistic, is waaaay more believable. So, who would win. Solid Snake would, of course, because he is a video game character and capable of way more than a real life person.

But I voted Bauer anyway, because Jack is an ass kicking fool.

Since I haven't played Metal Gear Solid that much, only the first one, I have to ask a question first.

To what extent does Snake torture people? If the answer to that question is "He doesn't" Jack easily wins. Torturing is definitely a must for badasses. If the answer is "He does, and pretty bad too", Snake will take the win.

24 is a boring show. it's the same thing every week. something gets hi-jacked. the president dies. stupid stereotypical scenarios if you ask me. On the other hand MGS:2 is one game i have watched and not played and looked sick :) . If they made that game a movie i would see it like a bajillion times. although it would be around a 20 hour movie but.. i'd still watch it:p
