Holy shit, i just heard about this guy, he is da bomb.
He is the next Bob Marley. If you haven't heard of him download his songs, they're outstanding.
My favourite song by him is called Jerusalem, and Chop Em' Down. He's a Jewish Hassidic (sp?) Rabbi that does Reggae, Man he's outstanding, I went to Dave Matthews Band concert yesterday, and he was opening it was AMAZING! He also is amazing at Beat Boxing.
He's Insane, Please post if you've listened to him and tell me what you think..

His name looks like some gay anime show...
I highly doubt I'd be interested in his music though, so I'll leave now. :)

Before you underestimate him. Download Jerusalem, listen to it, THEN Comment. Seriously.

I think it's fortunate that he has been able to transcend his status as "novelty" act, which he could have easily slipped into. Instead he has more articulately explained the connection between hassidic Judaism and reggae. Most of all though, the music speaks for itself. This guy is just really good. I bought his album of live recordings, and apparently he is put out a studio album recently, although I haven't listened to it.
For those who are uninformed and have been commenting, Matisyahu is a reggae artist, I beleive out of NY, who is also an orthodox, practising Jew. The connection: Much of reggae lyrics are rooted in the Old Testament.

I don't feel like wasting time and space on my computer to download something from a genre which as a whole I dislike, and from an artist I have low expections for.

Holy jesus christ how long are people going to be discovering Matisyahu for. No offense, but seriously for the past two years everyone has been discovering him. He was on the man show two or three years ago. Also, his new CD, Youth, sucks. His old CD is good though. No where near Bob Marley level, though.

I enjoy reggae music and Matisyahu is the best (relatively) new reggae artist out there, that I know of.

I agree with t3k. The first "discovery" I heard of him was something on PR about 2 years ago. Also, I don't listen to much reggae, so I can't say definatively if he's the "best new reaggae artist," but what I've heard I've liked.

Although Matisyahu is good I don't even put him among the greats. Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Ziggy Marley... there's just no comparison.
p.s. A LOT of his stuff I would barely even consider reggae. Especially on the Youth CD.
