Disconnected for Account to get Upgraded?

I was just on Si Leader which was grey. I was playing a game and then right in the middle I was DC'ed. I log back in to find Its gold now? WTF?

Why do accounts get disconnected during account upgrades?

Lol, I'm not sure why it does this, but you are not alone. I was in a game on my grey, Halogen, and then the upgrade came through, and I lost something like 16 stats, but was golded :p

In order to add units and make the changes they probably need the account to not be actively changing the variables. Hence it DC's you, and then changes the settings on the account.

But it was already gold. Its not a new account. The settings were already there. It just went grey for today and yesterday. And went gold during my game.

Thats not a good method considering if anyone was cheap enough. When playing high rated greys on could just upgrade it to gold they would be disconnected. Not really free stats... 5 dollar stats. Heck based on the system. You could also do it to high rated golds.

It takes a while, so you'd have to plan to play them in advance, and hope that they get upgraded whilst in the game :p

Just go through and own in grey tourney games...

And you draw out the games to 3 hours to make sure they D/C in game

It took five minutes. I upgraded when I saw it was grey and read that the previous person was having account issues. In the time it took me to upgrade, I logged in.. started playing a game and then was disconnected. Logged back in gold. So the potential is there.

It will also disconnect you when your gold runs out and turn you grey. Where as in the old days, TAO would keep you gold for an extra week while Paypal tried to come up with another payment. Looks like they don't do that anymore.

The odds of purposefully catching an account to be uopgraded during a specific game is prolly less than getting hit by lightning 3 times when there is no storm.

Golding can be anywehere from 2 minutes to 2 days. Paying $5 to get a slight chance to DC someone is not worth a couple of stats.
