Ok, I was on my other gold on GL, Playmaker. A grey asked for a tryout for a clan. Now being a recruiter for PW challenged him and put my piece down. But then Anarchy_United jumped me.

To be honest with you I was about to flip when I saw his rush against my turt. Although we drawed, this is very weird that he was able to jump me when a challenged someone else. The challenge was I guess you would say valid because it said put your piece down on an empty spot.

I'm not sure if this was a one time thing or whatever. Can someone tell me what went wrong. Any help?

I actually had something similar happen to me on army, however, I think the challenge feature works because I'm unable to jump anyone who's challenged someone else... :p

Just make sure you challenge before putting your piece down, as this will usually stop all of your problems, but, there are bound to be a few errors occasionally. Just move on :p

Ummm.....like I said I DID challenge the person. And it said it worked but I was still was able to be jumped by A_U. Hence why I made this thread in the bug section.

Idk if this could/coudn't be the reason but it could be like this.

A_U Places piece down. But because of lag its delayed

Then you challenge and put down your piece.

But at the same time A_U finally is put on the board since the lag stopped.

Thats the only thing i can thnk off. ;)

Maybe you sat on the space at the same time, Then the other player can jump you.

Chellenge also has a limited time priod of use. If at the end of the time the person has not accepted, then it becomes an open game i believe.

While I hate to disagree with you, Jeffery, I believe that is wrong. I've never had a challenge 'time out' , and I've challenged someone for over 30 minutes before (We were making a floor of green dragons :p)

Or else the person you challenged started another game, therefore cancelling the challenge.

Could the grey have been autobooted? If they are nbot on the server then the challenge is not valid.

I don't think that cancels the challenge , boogieman.

I could be wrong, of course...

Beat me to it. I think that's what it is. Then again I've had this happen to me with a gold game also. But it was still an In-clan game.

I've tested this out pretty thoroughly, so I'm pretty confident in my answer:
You messed up. The challenge doesn't cancel itself after a period of time, nor does it cancel itself after the challenged player leaves the game or enters another battle. There are two steps to a challenge: the command and the set-down.

*If* you set down and it said the challenge was valid, then any removal of the peice, any checking of your setup, or momentary logoff, no matter how short a time, automatically cancels the challenge. Most people forget that checking settings will do this. Ensure you did not.

MORE LIKELY: People don't actually read the orange text. They see orange text pop up and don't realize it says "...can not be challenged at this time". the believe in their mind it's valid, and set down without actually reading precisely what it said. I've done this myself.

Otherwise, challenges don't normally just get cancelled.

No, he was there for a while, I saw him there, and jumpzored.

I was there for about ten seconds before getting jumped.

I remember, when KotR was taking over a floor in Banff, that I challenged one of the golds in KotR so we wouldn't get jumped. He in turn challenged me, and we sat there for a good 10 minutes. Then suddenly, he left, and I got jumped by a gray.
