Unknown Reason For "Connection Refused"

Hello everyone, I am posting this thread on my new Toshiba Laptop that I just recieved today. Although it picks up a wireless internet connection from my house and acts as my other two stationary computers do on the internet, I only have one into one small difference on my laptop... This one error happens to be with logging on to TAO. For some reason, I am getting a "Connection Refused" message for every attempt of logging on. It doesn't matter about the account, ALL accounts, even submitting new ones result the same. I have no penalties against me regarding mods or anything, and all other websites work on this laptop...Even the servers load. I have never run into a problem like this, and all of the usual reasons of "Connection Refused" messages for other people on the forums are not the problem. I have actually been able to log on once on this laptop, but that was my first attemt. The only programs I have installed are Microsoft Word and the such so far. Can anyone that knows a lot about this help me please? I got this laptop in hopes of playing TAO on it, and this is the only task I cannot do! :( Please help.. and I will rep you. If any prospects of this situation was a little blurry to you, please tell me. Thank you.

By the way it sounds your using a router. And it is having trouble connecting to the TAO server. But I think both the TAO game and the Website run from the same site. LEast that is what it says on the bottom of my Firefox when I open both of them. I'll sleep on it tonight, see if I can come up with any help for you tomorrow.

It could be that, someone got a ban somewhere around you, and you are picking up its ip adress, therefore "getting a ban".

Steve - we need to know a few other things to troubleshoot your problem:
-do you have another computer in the house that might have been on TAO? (siblings, friends, etc)
-did you get any unexpected disconnects right before this occured, finding you were refused connection directly after such a d/c?
-do you remember playing a game or being in the lobby when suddenly everything lagged out, you or your opponent weren't moving for excessive periods of time, then were disconnected?
-did you run over Realist's puppy?
-did you attempt to do anything unconventional, such as sit on "in between" floors (if you dont know what this means, assume no)

1) No, I'm the only one that plays TAO, and no computers were on at the time.
2) No... I was able to log in once, but I logged out shortly.
3) Nope, I didn't play any games on this.
4) No... :dry:
5) No, I didn't do the /floor 1.3 thing either.

... No, I don't try desperately at all. If someone can't login to the servers, odds are you banned them for no reason.

well you could get a new computer or just go back to the old one. Or try restarting your whole computer (delete everything)

way to necro. hey i bet this new kid's 3 day ban is also because of my 3 hour kick, according to dirka :rolleyes:

a 3 day ban comes from a few reasons, most of which involve you doing something you REALLY should not have been doing. For example, attempting the in between /floor thing will do it (if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't ask for clarification). Furthermore, some people get such a ban after tripping the spam filter. Alternatively, excessive abuse of TAO will result in similar banz0ring.

Last but unexplainably least: there was a problem when the last update was installed which had TAO "think" users were still signed on when they weren't. Thus, they were recorded as still on a server, and thus recieved a connection refused from all servers. Such a banz0ring eventually wears off, but we never really knew exactly what was going on. Such reports had, previously, stopped though.

It could be posibly cuz that day i logged in like a million times cuz everybody run out of the game when this stared.... And it was just the second time I've played.... :confused:
