As I have said so many times...

So you just agreed with Cheat. Let me reiterate.
It Does Not Matter How You Played the Game. All That Matters Is If You Win Or Lose.
Nobody cares how good your team is, or how many records you broke. As Cheat said, they were 18-1. The '72 Dolphins are still the best team in NFL history.

That's not quite true. Many people care about records. Look at when Peyton broke all Marino's records and the same thing when Brady broke Peyton's. It's a big accomplishment and people DO care.
72 Dolphins are NOT the best team in NFL history......had there only been 17 games in a season still, the Patriots would be with them.

Back when the Rams beats the Titans when the Tiants were ONE YARD short.
All history will remember is Rams won, Titans lost.
All that comes down to it is who wins.
Pitt out played the Cards last SB but the Cards almost won. Pitt had to fight hard to come back.
But in about 5-10 no one will remember that. All the history books will say it Pitt won, Cards lost.
That is ALL that matters in the end.

INT return for a TD on the last play by the Broncos.
No, wasn't an INT return.
Cincy scored and Denver got the ball back with like 38 seconds on the clock.
Orton lobbed the ball to Brandon Marshall, and (I think it was) Leon Hall just missed the interception. So instead the ball is tipped into the air, and Brandon Stokely is right where it is tipped to. He runs it in for a touchdown, leaving Cincy with time for 1 play.
So we should have won. We had it. But that was just a damn lucky play for the Broncos.
I'm not sold on Cincy being bad though. It was 1 game and I think they could be good. Offense looked nice on the last drive and should get better once Carson loses the rust. (But, @ Bratkowski, you should probably do a pass/run mix with a ratio of something like 10:1)
Defense didn't play too badly besides the huge mistake of not having a safety deep on the last play to.
Really was a heartbreaking loss after driving 91 yards to score.

Nolan's system will continue to do well. He's one of the best coordinators in football, and his teams average about 40 turnovers a year (only ONE team had that many last season). If our key guys (Dawkins, Bailey, Williams) stay healthy, we will continue to perform.

Good strategy! Ackbar would be ashamed.
You didn't make me look like a fool? The Dolphins went through some major changes, as did Tampa Bay. The difference is, Tampa Bay changed to players who aren't as good as last year, and their coaching is inexperienced (Morris is the youngest coach in the NFL).
Miami changed owners, coaching, philosophy, and it worked.
My point was though, that you can't base ANYTHING off of last season. That was 7 months ago. Things have changed, and Tampa Bay won't be making any playoff runs anytime soon.

Looks like one broken rib for McNabb.. obviously it depends on the severity of the break as to how much that is going to matter.. but it's not a super bad injury.. especially not for him. Im going to stay cautiously optimistic.
What really sucks is he wasn't injuired running in for the TD, he bounced right off the guy who hit him and fell in for the TD, then some jackass landed on top of him when he was down.. just a shitty situation. Would have been nice to come out of such a dominant performance with no injuires.. just have to wait and see.
I know this, Kevin Kolb sucks ass.

Derrick Ward and Cadillac Williams aren't upgrades? It can be argued that Leftwich is better than Garcia. Look at what Atlanta did with a first year coach/QB last year.
Things have changed, you're right. But not as radically as you've said. They've upgraded their running game hugely. Antonio Bryant is still a solid #1. The only real thing that's changed for the worse is that their defense might not be as good as last year, which even if it's not doesn't mean it's bad at all.

And bdog, the Tampa Bay running game isn't improved. They lost Dunn and gained Ward. They are pretty even in my opinion, and since Tampa has no set feature back, they won't have that strong of a ground game. They wont be as successful as the Giants with their three headed monster.

So with Urlacher out for the season, what do people see Chicago doing as far as record goes.
I think that Cutler isn't really a threat anymore. The Bears need to improve their offensive line first and foremost, and let him get some more time to throw. Earl Bennett isn't a bad receiver, but when your line collapses, there isn't much you can do. Forte will have to step it up if the Bears want to win, but I see them having to play from behind like Cutler did in Denver. But with a worse offensive line and worse receivers, I don't see the Bears doing that well. Granted, they have a better defense than Denver did last season, but I still think they'll be hard pressed.

Come on, man. The Patriots are the Patriots, and Brady is Brady, but Mckelvin lost that game for Buffalo. One first down would have been the game if he'd just taken a knee. Even three and out would have been an entirely different story with time, timeouts and field position after the punt. It would have been possible for Brady, but not at all probable.
But there was no question Brady was scoring from inside the 30 with 2 minutes and 3 timeouts. None at all.

Yeah but there was like 2:30 left and we had 3 timeouts. So force a 3 and out. Get the ball back with like ~2 and one timeout.
I've seen Brady march down the field in less the 2 minutes with no timeouts quite a few times. So yes, I'd like to think that we had it regardless.
No doubt, that idiot fighting for an extra yard fumbling the ball helped us. Made it real easy for us. I'm just saying that I believe either way I think we had it. (probably the superfan in me)

I disagree KAP, and it's not the anti-Pats talking in me.
The Bills had JUST come off of a TD scoring drive, and looked REALLY good on offense. If McKelvin kneeled that ball in the end zone, Edwards and Jackson would have managed the clock. Like Hugh said, even with 3 time outs, one or two first downs, and the game belongs to Buffalo.

It's all guesses now (pointless guesses at that). We won. I don't care what you say, we won and that's all that matters. Right TC?!

See the drive right before it?
Point is, playing to get into FG range for the win is a LOT different than clock management to seal the deal.
Yes, the Patriots won, and that's what counts at the end of the day. But if McKelvin does what he's supposed to, I think that game was Buffalo's.

Yeah because tucking the ball and running for 10 yards is playing scared.
So one run out of an entire night not playing up to his norm balances it out?
Curious.
Even "Jaws" said during the game that Brady "wasn't right" and something was wrong with his footing. He said Brady was playing scared.
But KAP you are right. They won and that is all that matters. For after all...you play to win the game!

Apparently you haven't seen a Patriots game since Brady took over..
He almost never tucks the ball and runs. To me that showed that he wasn't scared. Some of his throws did seem a little weak and off balance, but I expect them to get better as he gets re-used to the offense and the timing. As I saw many times tonight (only saw second half as I had class til 8:45 ) the timing between Brady and the recievers was a little bit off. I don't know, but too me he didn't seem that scared.

Raiders definitely should have won the game. Played terrible defensively at the end though.
They were just giving them way to much space to just dump it to Sproles for some quick 5-10 yard gains.
Rivers played much better at the end but they made it too easy.
Still mad the Chargers barely used LT though.

Naw, Chargers deserved to win that game. Raiders played some VERY good football, but the Chargers won that 4th quarter outright.
However, the Chargers were definitely outplayed for the other 3 quarters, and if they play like that against Denver, I think they'll end up losing. If the Raiders play like that though...they might actually win some football games this year.

So Philly signed Garcia to back up Kolb this weekend against the Saints..
Um... Garcia >>>> Kolb. Sit that rookie f*%& a-hole on the bench and let big Jeff take us a couple weeks. He's done it before, he fits in really well in Philly.
Please do not take that as me saying Garcia > McNabb. That is not true, McNabb is our guy. This is not a major injury (thank God), and I'd rather him set 2 weeks and be 100% then sit 1 week and come back banged up. It's early, be smart.
But having a proven QB like Garcia back up a proven choke artist like Kolb is not smart. Switcharoo I say.

Vick went to Philly to be the Wildcat QB.
And when McNabb finally retires he will step into the starters role. He and McNabb play a lot alike, and have the same assets (good runners and strong arms). The Eagles won't skip a step if Vick is the starter.
Delhomme isn't done just yet. He will finish the season, since the Panthers don't have another QB, and likely won't be able to trade for one. Unless he has a MAJOR turnaround this will be his last season for sure.

So, being in a frat and all, i would like to consider myself a pretty good beer drinker, but this new drinking game we created last night during the Chargers/Raiders game ruined all of us.
The game was that we all had to drink everytime that JaMarcus Russell threw an incomplete pass and we all had to shotgun for every interception he threw.
Long story short...
:bad:

Nitanius Nolund

You should have to shotgun for the fumble too.
Regardless, I'd take Russell over Delhomme, or even Cutler. I can take 8 drinks just fine, but shotguns mess me up.
Maverik07
09-15-2009, 01:11 PM
Why?
Russell has done nothing to prove that he is beneficial to any team or organization. Cutler and Delhomme have at least shown that they can do something beneficial, at times.
