I was thinking to myself, 'I can play Gold vs. Grey, Gold vs. Gold, and Grey vs. Grey...which should I play to get better?' What is your opinion?

Ive noticed the more I only play golds on my grey the better i get at playing other golds, however when i go back to playing grey on grey action i find those games a little tougher.

Play default setup grey vs gold and you will improve fast. or just play the best greys you can find in grey vs grey matches.

I think the best way to improve at grey games is to head to legends and play games there. The greys are better, and have some drops that they don't have. So, you get better at playing greys (as they are still grey, and have more grey units than golds) , and you get better at playing golds (because they have some gold units)

More of a stepping stone, i guess.

Gold vs. Gold turtles. Gets you thinking. And in my opinion improves all styles of gameplay.

Gold verses gold, play people that are obviously better than you. You'll learn more than playing someone with relatively no skill compared to yours.

Practice = perfection.

If practice makes perfect and nobodies perfect why do we practice? :p

Practice = perfection.

Well, that is the old way of saying it. Though proven, no one is perfect. So it should be changed to something like, Practice = Gain in skill.

i thinkinig playing as grey against a gold is very good practise since their peices are much more powerful so it teaches you to defend.

Yeah but I beat golds all the time. and I think having a hard good battle with a grey if you are grey you learn more because you will learn how to use the basic units. but fighting a gold vs gold is good too! so yeah grey vs grey, gold vs gold, or grey vs gold. those are the best ways to improve.:cool:

This is a heavy question. Playing against golds and playing against greys are two different games. Greys value certain units higher than gold's, due to the way games play out.

The best answer really depends on what you want to get better at. I say do all four in order to get better at all situations. The real question is who you should play. Look for a grey/gold that seems well respected, or (for greys) has stats over 1000. Although 1k is easy to get, it shows some skill.

The more skillful players you play against, the better you will get, faster.

Well, if you knew which one you were better at, you would do the opposite. Right?
I mean, the whole point is to improve, so you shouldn't do the one you are best at.

No, Practice = Permanent.

If you use the same moves over and over again, you will natuarally know the pros and cons of them. If you start out your career by not thinking about your moves and just doing the same stupid things over and over again, it's not likely you will improve very quickly.

Gray vs Gray and Gold vs Gold.

When I learned how to play gray, I played grays over and over until I got really good at it. By the time I joined a clan willing to teach me, I already knew everything except for LoS.

As a gold, I played my clanmates over and over and over until I got good at it.

When I teach somebody, I play them, and I critique their moves and setup opportunities to see if they take them. If they make a bad move, I tell them why it's not good.

That's my tactic anyways. As a player, I'm balanced in that I'm good gray and gold. I feel that being a good gray builds the foundation for a great gold.

its the best when u vs someone with equal skillz. so neither has an advantage

I'm not convinced that playing grey vs. gold will help you in your equal opponent battles as much as just practicing on those battles itself. Greys fighting golds usually have to play much more aggressively, for example, than either grey v grey or gold v gold; because a grey will lose a war of attrition even against a much weaker gold player. If you get this aggressiveness ingrained in you, it may make you a worse player in everything except grey v gold.

The best way to become better is to play opponents who are better than you.
