View Full Version : The Gamma Turtle Rules

I decided to make these rules, a little more stricter in some ways, but a little less in others.
Rules:
1. Stone Golems can ONLY be in back row.
2. Frost Golems MUST be adjacent to the Stone Golem at beginning.
3. At beginning Stone Golem must be able to stone 4 units + itself.
4. If you have a Dragon Tyrant on the field, it MUST be in the stone cluster at beginning of game.
5. Your first turn must either be:
a) Using a Furgon
b) Using Stone Golem
c) Moving a piece (cannot attack)
6. You may place units either:
a) Within 6 columns adjacent to each other, with 1 adjacent to a wall.
b) Within 7 columns with the 4th (middle) column centered.
7. No GA or any mages.
8. No Mobile Ranged units may be placed in the front two rows.
Tell me what you think, I tried to make it so no set as initial advantage.

I think they're good. I question rule 2, only because it won't give you a great advantage to have the frost somewhere else. Also, that rule seems to imply that you need a frost in your set.
Other than that, strict, but good. I bet some people will have a big problem with rule 4, but I'm all for it.
EDIT: Also, rule 5 doesn't do what you want it to I think. Right now, someone could move a piece on their first turn, then attack with that piece on the second turn.

I don't think anything is wrong with those rules. I like them, BUT the only rule that throws me is the moving without attacking on the first turn but I guess you then have two other options OR moving without attacking is part of your strategy.I've always played turtle games with my frost adjacent to stone, so again it works fine for me.

You're really negative today, Cua.
I think it's too restrictive. I long for a set of turtle rules that allows a grey to play by turtle rules...
A turtle just needs to be bunched up in the corner. How about only back 4 ranks, 6 columns and has to be opposite-side? Perhaps also a maximum of 6 damage units (not counting lward) or less.

Well you're just complaining that you're grey and we're rambling about gold rules. Tough luck. ;)

Basically, you're trying to re-write the rules for a turt, and I dont think that is either fair, or possible.
Stone in the back row is not a necessity in my opinion, and frosts can be used to either players advantage if not placed beside the stone.
As a Legends player, I see more turts than on these servers, but dual scouts make turting here much more difficult, complared to Legends. Here, placing the stone in front of the cleric is deadly in a same side match, and some units (such as the dragon) are best used in the front lines...
I respect what you are trying to do, I just dont think it will work..."Rules were meant to be broken" and that saying would be used a Hell of a lot in reference to these new turt rules you have stated

I prefer the rules Bottle once posted.
"A turtle is a formation that does not seek to gain any offensive advantage from its initial position."
Unfortunately, this rule is kind of hard to qualify, and many more arguments would break out about who's turtle is breaking this rule than a set of rules such as the alpha rules, for example.

These are not rules to define a turtle. Nor are Alpha rules. Nor any of the other silly rules that have been posted the past few days.
They are rules for a specific style of turtle games that try to limit the ways a person can win in formation alone, and allow specific styles of turtle play.
If you don't like them, don't play them! :)

It's rules for people that like this kind of turtle. No one says you have to use them.
