When I logged into the forums today, (I have it set to "remember me"), I had to type my username and PW!!

Is this because of the new forum changes or what?

Most likely. The forums probably reboot when they get upgraded/worked on so, it auto logs you out.

It also tells you how full your PM box is full percentagewise. Mine is always in the 90's.

No no, certain people such as fudgers and myself need to log in everytime. Every 5 minutes of inactivity. It gets annoying - if I read a page too long it logs me out. I'm guessing I just need to restart my computer to fix this, which I haven't gotten around to, but even still it's a bug.

I think it is the intended behaviour.
I also don't use "Remember me", so that the bbUserId and bbpassword cookies are not set. And 15 minutes of "inactivity" then simply means that your session is invalid. After all, the web server can't save every temporary sessions forever.

Never tried it with "remember me", but if you use this and still get kicked after 15min, then yes, sounds like something is not working correct.

You also might have your computer security set to not store cookies from TAO. You can tweak individual site settings to allow TAO to store cookies more effectively.

Remember me simply stores the cookie for whatever length of time your browser/computer is set to store that type of cookies for.

If you check your cookies for tacticsarena.com, there should be the following:

bblastactivity
bbsessionhash
bbthread_lastview
bblastvisit
and additionally, if you use "Remember Me"
bbuserid
bbpassword

Do you have the last two?

uniquinous
08-18-2006, 11:04 AM
nope - how do i acquire them?

EatMine

well, ok, that's the problem. Without those two cookies the forum can't identify you permanently.

You probably don't have any cookies set by tacticsarena.com, right?

The way to allow them depends on the used browser. Check this (http://www.google.com/cookies.html) for a quick instruction. I'd suggest though, to not allow them in general, but only allow them for specific sites, e.g. tacticsarena.com

it... seems to have resolved itself... at least temporarily...

strange

EDIT: nevermind :(

sorry for the double, but the people who are affected need to see this:
clear your cookies - all will be well. :)

I find this highly amusing. I'm am thinking I might defenestrate my dog...

Defenestration was listed in some old thread as being Aro23r's favourite word.

No, it's not weird that I remember this..
