I just use my normal form when I play golds. Just play skillfully and give yourself the best chance to win. If they are good they will always win, but if they're not as good as you you will have a shot. Form is not that important.

Just learn to prioritise what units you kill. Take out the DSM near the begining if possible... Also wanna take out their range so that your enchantress has a chance. It is also key to make them move their units where you want them to go. I spent a whole game doing this and ended up freezing: DSM, 2 pyros, dragon and 2 witches for the win.

Here (http://img458.imageshack.us/img458/2821/greysetrg2.jpg) is a pretty good grey turtle set-up that has won me quite a few gold games in the past. If you're good with the enchantress, and you know LOS, this set-up should suit you well. The enchantress will come in quite handy during the end of the game.
Normally I would advise you to create your own to avoid getting flamed, but I am feeling generous at the moment. ;)
Test it out and tell me how it works for you.

So what if golds have DSM and GA and all that crap. If you know what the hell you're doing in grey, there will be no trouble at all, unless of course it's someone like a 1600+ if you're a beast at grey, I bet that wouldn't stop you.

Errrrr, no?
What I was saying is:
No matter what gold units a gold is using or has, any very very decent grey can always dominate them.
The part about the 1600 is about the fact that a 1600 shouldn't lose to a grey, unless the grey is a BEAST at that style, and if the 1600 is a bright bulb, but not the brighest in the box.

Furgon Kills All Grey Chances.
No it doesnt. If the user isnt pretty good with the furgon then it becomes just another unit that you dont need to worry about at all. That is just from my experience though.

I use a set pretty similar to this, and I think I have lost around 3 (no more than 5 for sure) battles with using it.
Except, I switch my assassin and scout positions, and then move the scout from its new position over to the right one space.
Normally I would advise you to create your own to avoid getting flamed, but I am feeling generous at the moment.
Id also advise you to create your own, not because of flaming (I dont know why you would be flamed in the first place...) but because you will find after some experimenting, you will get the best results when using your own.

I often find in grey vs gold games that you can use the opponents shrubs against them. Its when they rush you same side and get the muddy into your turt straight away that I have problems personally. A slow tactical furgy type game is where greys can pawn if they are smart enough.

the biggest advantage a gold has is range. so if you're facing a rush or same-side anti, start blocking off LOS at the cleric and witch that grey can't take but a gold with 2 scouts and more firepower can. get a knight 5 tiles in front of the cleric and you blcok off the busher.
if there's a mudd, eliminate it ASAP, then your BW, if you'repacking 1 will get a lot more effective.
try not to let the frost mobilize. EVER. 1 scout is just not enough to negate it.
turts - go for the cleric. same side, move the witch and keep barriering till it can get the witch, and hopefully the stoner. the stone is useless once the cleric is gone and you still have yours.
these are just a few, soe wont even be right, but they work for me when i get jumped.

The problem if you get same side is that the muddy gets into your set straight away, and you must spend the next 3 turn killing it, while also protecting your cleric and mages from scouts. It can be very hard to juggle sometimes

all long range are killer to greys. Simple as that.

I know what you mean. I spend sometimes playing legends, no greys play, so I decide shall I jump a gold, or just wait?
So, I sit on a square with my dropless set on, and a 1300+ or 1400+ DSM dude comes and jumps my ass. I don't panic, because yes his muddy, dragon, beasty, Pyro and scout are on my side. But, you just play like normal and hope for the best.
Coming into the match, he does exactly what you say, jumps straight in with his muddy and corupts my setup, now this is the part when I have to think, knuckle down and think LONG and HARD about each move, knowning he can easily kill my cleric or chanty, and whilst im trying to pick scout and muddy of, his damn power pyro is tearing into my LW and 3 knights.
It's a struggle to defend of especially thinking of his DSM near-by, and also beasty being able to attack 2 squares (sometimes you love it, sometimes you hate it). ;)
There is just ONE weapon I love about grey, and some golds don't notice it, or even 1300+ 5 DMW rushes on the front line. And, thats the enchantress, they know you won't use it and don't focus on it, but towards the end of a match, if you still have that BW and cleric after surviving a massive blow of power up your ass, then you're as good as gold.
It's helped me win alot of the time, especially in this situation I just mentioned.
