I think its the stupid ads, like one is trying to popup, but cant..Yes it is the ads, so shut up the chicken (http://www.tacticsarena.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26107):)
(The best way to do it is via a hosts file (Poop Slinger's method), but the other stuff probably work as well.)

Basically you are getting sent to an ad referal link. Which doesn;t work as a normal link, because there is no "page". The link is used to track referals through for the ads.
Your using Adblock, right?
Buster
09-03-2006, 12:22 PM
Adblock is a FireFox plugin right? if so, no I do not.
To be truthfull I dont think I have any type of ad blocker on this computer...
Which would mean the its my browser that is trying to stop the ad, right?
but I didnt think IE could do that...

Most likely it is simply your browser reading a banner ad link, and trying to forward you to it.
Which means several things. 1) Your browser allows it self to be manipulated by webpage scripts. 2) Your lucky this is simply a site error, and not someone hicjacking your comp.
In other words, get Firefox and Adblock. No more ads, and less scripts to worry about.

I doubt it. That looked like a coding problem where the pictures were overlapped or something. The home page thing I think is some sorta error where the page doesn't load properly. I'm not sure though.:(

Oh, I should of shown the quote.
Hey guys we are on this problem, we can't find out how or what is causing it. We removed the topsites script and it appears they were able to get through another way.
We still think it is a bot using an exploit in one of our scripts, we have to take another look at FAQ script. We updated everything kernals, patchs, php, ran security checks ourselves and third party security firm did as well and still no luck.
We have removed the script which loads an off site virus from the site and will keep monitoring it so we remove it ASAP if it happens again.
Sorry for all this we are trying our best to locate the problem and block it for good.
EatMine
09-03-2006, 07:30 PM
Your problem has nothing to do with this.
Like already said here, it's an ad script, that doesn't work as intended.
I don't understand why you guys don't spend 30 seconds to block the ads forever ...
Anyway, just out of curiosity:
can you post the source code of the page where it happens?
(cause i couldn't find any reference to that dartiframe.html)
if you don't know how: when it happens again, click the back button in your browser, then right-click somewhere on the page and then "view source". It's probably too much to copy it in one post, so you may have to split...
Buster

It happens on ever page relating to the forums, but next time it happens I will post the source code.
Edit: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-US&q=dartiframe.html
Seems that that code is used in many sites.
Jeffery
09-03-2006, 08:08 PM
Yes, because it is part of the ads that Bills has on the site and forums.
As Eatmine said, the ads are running a script that is sending people to a non-existant page. This is probably related to when the ads crashed a while back.
The simplest solution to not having this happen to you anymore is to simply make your system no longer allow ads.

bah, i've been browsing the forum now for an hour with ads on, and couldn't find the exact problem ... and since these ads suck big time, i'm stopping it now.
The problem is most probably somewhere in a special doubleclick ad, which includes bad code and can break out of the the iframe it is supposed to be in.
This is actually not that bad, because it can be prevented by blocking the ad.
But like Jeffery said: the bigger problem is, that it shows you are vulnerable to such kinds of scripts. So take it as serious advice, when he suggests to switch browsers and start blocking the ads!

There are popup ads on the site. Some of the doubleclick ads open up a popup window. Which is where the script that these guys are having trouble with is originating.
But, as we said, if yuo simply configure your browser to not allow such access, there wouldn;t be any problem at all.

Hmm, nothing special with that code...
I still can't find the dartiframe.html-reference in any of those ads, though.
(but due to my IP i probably get different ads than you guys: all i see is the fart button and some T-Online stuff...)
Ok, since nobody else has this problem, maybe your cache just got screwy. Do you remember your browser crashing or something like that, before this mess started?
Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files. If that doesn't help, i don't know.
And start blocking the ads. If you don't want to use firefox, then use the hosts-file solution described in the other thread.
I get the whole sent to a new page thing also, but sometimes i get this pop up then the page goes to the classic, white with "The Page Cannot be displayed on it"...
The little pop up is >>> hrmm imageshack won't upload..
