Problem

This may seem a little retarded but I have a terrible problem with pop-ups. I downloaded google pop-up blocker and it works for my dad, but it just doesn't work for me.

I have 3 browsers but they are all the same, pop-ups still keep coming up no matter which browser I use.

So does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this? Or perhaps a pop-up blocker which may be good?

Get Firefox and enable the ad-blocker. I think that works for pop-ups too.

I use firefox. How do you turn on ad-block?

go to add-ons, download the pop up blocker/adblocker thingy majig

Of cpurse, now that oyu have downloaded spyware onto your system you've already made your computer suck more.

No one should EVER download google or yahoo toolbars of any kind. They simply mess your system up more than they halp.

No. I dont think any browser has a default toolbar.

And yeah, Jeff is completely right. So try removing them as well as scanning your computer, then see how it works.

Google often comes bundled with OEM versions of XP when you by them from places like Dell now.
You have to remove the search bar, then remove a file that will constanly run every 15 seconds and slow your system down.

all are free (or have free versions) all are well trusted, remove your toolbars, un-install any chat progs you have and download trillian to replace them (seriously, AIM is so bloated with wild-tangent crap it makes me cringe) then download these progs and run them

Don't use toolbars, as has been previously said, they suck. Downloading any type of add-on for a browser can mess up more then the browser. And you could always, you know, stop downloading porn, that is if you watch it...

So basically, getting a girlfriend will solve your problem. That might be kind of hard for you though. It's okay, we understand.

my way to block them: Turn off javascript/control which pages are allowed use of it, and set default to none.
