I'll care once the BCS is dead.
Until then...who gives a crap? Not everyone has a chance to win so why bother watching?
Unless of course you are a "old school" that has LOTS of money and ticket sales.
Then the BCS will get on its knees and...I think you know what I mean.

Lol. No matter. I do agree with you about the BCS. I respect Notre Dame (we had Lou's crazy ass as a coach), but I really dont believe they deserve an automatic bowl bid. Especially since Weis has ran that program into the ground as of late. They are showing some signs of offense though.
I think all conferences should have a championship. The best of the independent teams have to play each other as well to see who will represent them. Idk. BCS seems to be working alright, except with the case of Utah last year. I do think that Florida was the best team in the country last year, but Utah spanked Alabama. I don't think it "sucks," but I do think a playoff would be better. I also see no reason why the specific bowl games couldn't be incorporated into the playoff--when Big 10 and Pact 10 meet in the semifinals or quarterfinals or whatever, it's still the Rose Bowl.
At the same time I understand and enjoy the tradition that is the BCS.

Playoffs would be a solution, but I think it should follow more of a pro football program. Seed everyone in regions by conference. Winner of the the ACC plays the winner of the SEC. Winner of the big 12 plays someone, etc. then they have a 4 or 8 game playoff for the champ.

OSU v USC game has been good so far.
I'm not a fan at all of the play calling Tressel had at the end of the first half though. I would have run out the clock and taken my 3 point lead to the half. Taking a shot down the field on first down is fine, but doing so on 3rd and 3 was hoping for too much. Expecting to march down the field in 1:15 is hoping for too much.

I really think OSU had that game won if Tressel had just made a different call on either choosing to run the ball and the clock before half time, or kicking a field goal when they were at their 30-ish but instead took a delay of game and punted.

Told y'all about LaMichael James. Had a rough start but once he got his confidence was getting 10 ypc. Even had a Jonathan Stewart moment straight-arming a guy as a tail back only weighing a buck-eighty.

That game reminded me of the USC/Notre Dame game a couple years back where Bush had a little help getting into the end zone to win the game, but with more defense. The Vest did a good job keeping USC deeeeeeep in their own territory all game.

Hope you guys win it. Have to laugh at the pundits calling your win over Minnesota "quality". When a Big Ten team beats The Golden Rodents then no credit at all is given. Speaks more to the relative lack of balls in preseason scheduling. Watch as other Big Ten teams get probed for further degredation. Other aspiring programs will also look to notch "quality" pre-conference season wins. Woe is the Big Ten.

That's because OOC games are held to a different standards than In conference games. Same reason teams like PSU and cincy get credit for beating OSU every year but no PAC10 team gets it.
In OOC, all the other teams are playing directional state from the FCS while UM is not a power, but at least a mediocre BCS team that was in a bowl last year. Compared to all the nonBCS and FCS teams, that makes UMN "quality". But in conference, they're just another middle of the pack team.

Ducks are looking better, but I'm not sure anyone can take on Jahrvis Best right now. Hopefully we can get the ball moving and win in a shootout.
Good game against Utah today: namely: LaMichael James. I don't want to say "I told you so; we'll be better off with James than Blount," but... I told you so; we'll be better off with James that Blount.
Masoli is looking more and more like the weakest link. Sure, the guy has feet, but our spread worked in years passed by also having a quarterback that was a decent thrower and could add the pass option to a wide out or slot back... Masoli is proving ot me that he cannot or doesn't have the confidence to use his arm at all. Hindering. Especially with Holland and Mael as big name senior receivers right now. Not to mention Ed Dickson.
Unfortunate to see the freshman punter get spooked by a blocked punt, too. He needs to get his mind off the defense and just be in his element. Was averaging 45+ yd punts and had 4 in the 15 yard line... then he gets blocked and he started punting 29 and 31 yarders. Sucks. That right there could lose us the game against the Cal Jahrvis Best's, especially when we play a type of offense that isn't on the field very long. Field position and TOP efficiency will be huge in next weeks game.

I knew Ole Miss was overrated! Just makes it that much better when Spurrier says We Must Protect This House!
Agreed. Ole Miss had way too much hype going into the season. Aside from Florida and Alabama there are no great SEC teams, and Florida has already shown they can play poorly against the Vols. Bama's D is insanely good, I really hope the SEC title game is Bama vs Florida again.

Yep. Riley's passing numbers are just horrible up to this point and Masoli is looking like a quarterback.
Another shocker is Miami not showing up against Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech looked pretty bad in their win against Nebraska and Miami has been pretty good so far, this is why college football is so fun. I'm glad Kansas managed to escape with a win against Southern Mississippi, they didn't play a great game on offense despite the 35 points, the offensive line was kind of porous against the pass rush but a win is a win.
Texas has finally started strong against UTEP. Crazy stats for McCoy.

Our offense is finally off the ground! We're not playing in the special Olympics anymore! And the defense looked unbeatable too! Pac-10, look out. If our line keeps blocking and Masoli makes completions like today (giving our spread option that Kelly revolutionized its full potential), this could be a fantastic season after all. The defense has been sharp since day 1.

Boise @ Tulsa on Wednesday.
Cincy @ USF on Thursday basically for the Big East title.
Some good stuff before Saturday. Both are on espn.
SEC is the best football college conference in America. In both B-ball and Football.
SEC is by far the best football conference....Basketball Conference though? Seriously?
ACC is the BEST, no questions about it.
A few other points:
-Really glad to see Oregon turn it around after a their loss and a bad ending in the Boise State game.....The coach really has rallied the troops. Gotta have mad respect for those guys....and I would so love to see them play Boise State in a rematch....I hate Boise State with their pansy ass schedules.
-FSU needs to quit all the BullSheot about Bobby Bowden. Let the season come to the end and then consider everything before creating all the unnecessary drama in the middle of the season. Bobby Bowden is one of the most respected coaches in college football....sure you are gonna have some off years.....hell look at Pittino at PennState....he has certainly had some bad years too, but stick with the guy that got you there in the first place.
-Florida vs Alabama in the SEC Championship will be the winner of the national championship game....I am calling it right now.

EDIT: All of our practice reports are coming back that we are very relaxed for Saturdays game against Alabama. We really dont have anything to lose, so we may as well be loose. I think that if they have some mistakes that we exploit, then the Gamecocks should be in this game.

boise state will likely have only played 3 (possibly 4) teams with winning records by the time they go 13-0.
they can complain about teams in conferences like the WAC get shafted from the BCS championship game now and again, but it really only takes scheduling one or two better non-conference games from their AD to actually show they've beaten someone. they will and should make it to a BCS game, but definitely not the championship.

This actually kinda helps the argument for the BCS title game. BSU, Cincinatti, or TCU would never play for the championship based on their resume. A one or maybe two loss SEC team or a one loss Big 12 team would go before any of those teams because of their strength of schedule. Those conferences just arent proven enough. They may get a chance for a BCS bowl game like Utah last year, but they have to have more of a presence or have a harder schedule before they would be considered for a title game. Besides, do you really think that BSU could win 2 or 3 games against top quality teams to make a title game in a playoff system? I dont.

I don't think BSU can, but TCU goes through a MWC schedule that I would pitt against a big east or ACC schedule this year. BYU, Utah, and this year's CSU are the equivalent of upper-mid level BCS teams and they have a decent OOC slate.

TCU would beat Boise if they played. Boise has dodged some bullets against poor teams (like Tulsa, who got absolutely run by OU), one thing TCU can do is play good defense, and that can keep you in the game and then anything can happen.
I don't think Boise, Cincy or TCU are bcs caliber, but since Cincy will probably win the big east we will get to see someone slaughter them.

TCU is BCS conference caliber and has been for years. So shouldn't this make them BCS bowl caliber?
One example is 2006. Notre Dame went to a BCS bowl (sugar) and was destroyed by LSU. TCU would have been a better game by far.

TCUs case is noted. Id put Cincinatti up there too after their performance last night. There are just so many great teams with tradition that to get a new team in there would be tough. They tried it a couple of years ago with Hawaii and look what happened to them. BCS bowls are for the cream of the crop. Utah beat Alabama last year, so we could see some other teams get a shot. If TCU wins out, then I think they would be there. No way theyll play for the championship tho. The SEC champ will be there, but after that who knows.

Regarding VT and USC, both of their tests will be this weekend. If VT can get by GT this weekend, then they should take the ACC. However, if somehow ND pulls out the upset (highly unlikely), then USC should go. Agreed that the Washington wont go any farther, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut... USC is still a pretty solid team. Thats the beauty of college football. Anyone can win, and anyone can lose. Just some more likely than others.
Id like to see two undefeated teams meet in the SEC championship, because face it...that would be one of the best games we will see all year. AL vs FL!? What!? AL still has to play LSU though. The SEC West is still up for grabs, and that games gonna decide it.
I am a Gamecock. We do have AL this weekend, but we really dont have anything to lose. If we can make some plays and keep it tight, then who knows? Weve been playing pretty good ball, but we are injured. Jarvis Giles is suspended for this game as of yesterday, so Kenny Miles and Brian Maddox will be taking most of the handoffs. Heath Batchelor has left the team because he says football isnt fun anymore to him. ITS A COMMITMENT YOU DOUCHE!! Gamecocks are hurting, but we still have some talent. Steven Garcia can have a good game if the OL will hold, but we need the D to have a good game. Im not saying we WILL win. Im just saying that we have the talent to give us a shot to. Tommorrow will either be a close game or a blow out, but we definitely have a game plan for it. Im thinking 8-4 or 7-5 for the Gamecocks and a decent bowl bid.

Being a HUGE texas fan I disagree. The RB for Bama Ingram has to be the front runner for the Hiesman right now for sure. The kid is a BEAST!
