View Full Version : Knight Blocking?

This isn't some kind of rant against blocking but it's a rant concerning my knights
Twice now that I can specifically remember my knight has been attacked from the front with a scout, the attack hit despite 80% blocking and my knight didn't register the +80 boost in blocking it's suppose to get, it didn't get any boost. I"m positive it wasn't paralzyed or anything.

Maybe your comp screwed up. Who knows what happened, though something similar did happen to me. Except with me, my knight blocked it, and instead of having his blocking drop, it went up.

The computer would have nothing to do with FPS. Unless Cross is a hacker!?! :eek:

OK this is the usual complaint, and I have for you the usual reaction.
+80 does NOT mean +80%. In other words, your knight did NOT have 160% (perfect) blocking. It's just a qualifier. Imagine, for example for every +10 qualifier, the % of a hit gets reduced in half. (Again, just an example). Let's take the knight to follow through with this example. He starts with 80% blocking, 20% chance of hit. Say he gets hit, and gets a +40. That halves the % chance of hit 4 times:
first time = 10%
second = 5%
third = 2.5%
forth = 1.25%
No matter how high that qualifier goes, it's not an absolute number, you can never reach 0% chance of hit, just get increasingly closer to it. Now again, this is JUST AN EXAMPLE, but the principle has been demonstrated to run the same. People complain that, regardless of how high that number may be, they sometimes still get hit!
OK so then you ask, well how is it that my dudes get hit with such a small miniscule chance?! Let's say in another example there was a 0.00001% chance of a hit going through. Pretty small, right? Well, how many times do knights get attacked each game? Let's say 20. How many games are played each day? Let's say 5000. That's 100000 knight hits every day. Statistics would predict that if 100000 knights were hit at a chance of 0.00001%, then at least ONE attack would expected to land *every day*.
Point being: it's low odds with high repetition - someone will be the lucky winner - it's how the lotto works.

He's not saying that his knights should have blocked.
He is saying that he didn't receive the +80 when his neutral knights were hit from the front.
I think.

you really want me to answer that? :p
no you said it didn't register - this could mean you didn't see +80 or that you saw it but it didn't "work" so I assumed wrong. ok, so you didn't see it pop up.
There's a simple test to figure out how bad this problem is. Click here for it. (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e7/Snellen06.png/200px-Snellen06.png) :p

No, the blocking table they put in is gay. It was fun when you acually had to know the game to get the blocking. ;)

I also have this problem. It seems whenever my knights are hit by scouts from the front, I recieve no boost or minus, same goes with my Assassin. Cross, best I could say is learn to live with it, aside from not see-ing it, it hasnt affected any other blocking or such.

The use of the term "gay" to refer to things you don't like shows you to be some of the biggest morons of this forum. Prejudice and stupidity of that calibur should not be tolerated. What I'm saying is, if you can't grasp the simplicities of the English language, stop using it.

So that means it was a 20% chance to hit and that 20% came through.

PSST, he is not talking about whether or not it should have hit. He is talking about the fact that no modifier was displayed after it was hit.
