I've only got three negs for this thread so far. One with a smiley face, one saying "You asked for it." that probably would still neg any newbies asking for rep here perfectly well within reason and another pretty boring one where they think they're trying to be witty or whatever.

I don't think I can remember a post made by you that hasn't had a possible ulterior motive in getting more reputation. Does that make you a newbie? Does that mean you deserve or earned the rep you have?

Nobody deserves or earns reputation. Its just there. And if there are a set of "behavioral codes" that get people more reputation than negging them constantly isn't going to help them become more effective members of the community.
