My idea isn't so much for a new unit, but building a new ability into the barrier ward.
The current stats of the ward would remain the same as they are now and it would only be able to use this secondary "attack" once. The unit it protects can be anywhere on the board. While under the protective barrier, that one unit has the ability to move and/or attack for two of its cycles.
Ex: protecting a knight would allow the knight to move and attack twice, no matter how many other moves are done by the player in between the two moves.
The trade off for this move is, once the two move/attack cycles are complete, the barrier ward is destroyed and the unit that was being protected loses half of its remaining health, since it takes quite a bit of power to perform this play.
If the focus of the barrier ward is broken before the two cycles are complete, then it returns to its standard abilities and is not allowed to use the secondary move again for the remainder of the match.
(new to the boards and I didn't find anything similar after searching, so if an idea like this has been made before, feel free to ignore it.)
