To make this thread more than a link, I'll add a completely unrelated story, about hangings. So, my Dad lives in Oregon. If you don't know much about Oregon, think of Texas. Now, remove the large amount of immigrants of any race and cowboys. So a year back or so, my Dad's friend sees this old farmer, literally about 65 or so, sitting out on this huge crossroad in town, right next to this big old tree. And what does he have with him? Some unlucky S.O.B. hogtied in the back of his pickup truck. The sheriff is there arguing with the old farmer, basically telling him that he can't hang the guy. Farmer turns around and goes, "No, I can hang him, it's in the books. Law says that cattle rustling is a hangable offense." Apparently, the guy was trying to load up a few cows in a trailer, turned around, and the old farmer had a shotgun in his face. So for a good 30 minutes or so, this idiot is sitting there, hogtied, wondering if he's going to be swinging off a tree for trying to steal this old guy's cattle because Oregon law says it's still legal. He ended up not being hung but still.. I'm never breaking a law in Oregon, haha
