Ok.

Now, for the first time today, I noticed that in the lobby, each tile thing is like a little game board in itself.

Lol, who knew. anyways, instead of an avatar shown for a game there, I say we just show the position of the current units on that game board.

How awesome would that be.

Don't hate. Appreciate.

Then what would avatars be for?

Punishment
12-07-2006, 09:57 AM
They would be a thing of the past. You simply pick your color, and nothing else. :p

Then they'll see still see your set.
What would be cool is you set your avatar down and wait for a battle. Then, when someone joins you, both of your avatars change into your setups. And when someone moves, there unit that is on the tile moves. Get it?

OR

your avatar could sit on the side of the arena. not that i don't think this hopefully 100% un-serious suggestion sucks.Yeah, it's your avatar until you enter battle, then the avatar sets aside and looks like he or she is setting up the board. Everytime you kill an opponent's piece, your avatar in the lobby version picks up it's big foot and squashes that unit on the mini-board

That would be awsome...because then we could watch other players games. However it might cause mucho lag...all the games going on with their units constantly changing spaces.

Who cares about a little lag. Small price to pay for this awesomeness. :p

I think it'd be sweet.

When someone wins the winning avatar can like do some super move on the arena board thing, and then totally annihilate the other. Cleric will smack hte dragon with the book. It'll be LEETNESS.

YES!

Finally, somebody understands my genius!

It'd be spectacular. If you get lucky, you do a mud quake and everyone else on your floor is disconnected.

This totally gets rid of the lag!

Sweetness.

Actually, on a more serious note, that would be a serious method of creating clan games. Imagine that a clan war took place on a reserved floor. All matches started at the same time. As soon as someone won, they could walk (or mud/fly/whatever) their way to another arena, and attack your opponent. The strength of the attack would be directly proportional to the number of units you had remaining at the end of your match, and their health. It would add a completely new level of tactics to this game! whoa!

oh and the attack would damage all units on the opponents field just a little bit - say having all your units in perfect health takes 10 HP during the win-attack.

FTW!

Most. Useless. Suggestion. Ever.
Seriously, the units would be so small that it'd be pointless to do. Plus, that takes coding.

i hear "that takes coding" far too often.

Hellblazer

I just added that in because it's useless to code for. The real point is just that you'd have to lean in to the computer to determine which units were where.

12-07-2006, 07:47 PM
pff if you want a useful solution that doesn't involve coding, you've come to the wrong board. Suggestions today is about equivalent to create a unit

Anyway, in all reality, that's almost the same as allowing spectaters to watch and that suggestion has been denied.

Pun, the problem is, someone with good eyesight could counter someones set. Like get the general idea, and go to a quick counterset. Not one with a lot of thought though.

to adjust this suggestion, for fun :P

keep the end, no set-seeing, just the cleric wacking a dragon with a book, except make it that the winner's avatar attacks the loser's and destroys it :P

How sweet would that be? everyone in the lobby would know someone just got pwned :P

Dude, they should have different levels of kills for the different unit wins.

Win by one, you get the lame assassin kill.

Two you get like.. Pyro.

All the way up to something awesome, like Barrier ward kill or something :-p

Furgon kill1 woohoo :p

I dont understand why the observation suggestion was denied. This game would be so much cooled if I could watch other people play. Plus, then if someone is suspected of boosting, we can see for sure. I like the avatar killing idea. A frosty iceberg crushing a cleric would be cool.

Exactly. That is the main reason this suggestion sucks.

But aside from that, it also sucks because like previously stated, the lag would be unbelievable. I for one have dial up internet so I can't stand any more lag than necesarry.

All right buddy.

What makes you so sure it would cause massive lag?

Does somebody clicking on and off an arena cause incredible lag for you?

How would someone counter your set. I said a few posts up that it'd be an avatar untl they jumped you :p

MicSpor
12-22-2006, 08:29 PM
But you could also counter because if you see the first few turns of the game you still see their set.

Maybe it would be beter if this suggestion would show after 1 unit was killed.

Oh, I didn't see that.

As long as it didn't cause lag it would be cool. But obviously that doesn't mean it will happen. ;)

But at the same time, the tiles are so small, it would be hard to see exactly what was going on without a microscope. :(

The problem with this is the counter-setup, but not with the game you are about to play. Some people never change their setups. We know that Gold Person A uses a left-side turtle because we've watched a few of his games. Now every opponent can set up a counter to the left-side turtle which makes sure the lightning ward is in the right place and which figures to use, which to bench, and what strategy to use prior to the game being played.
I like the suggestion, but secrecy, surprise and setup override the cool to watch factor.

Ya what about multiplayer games? This idea is pretty cool but, it would be better if spectators were allowed in on the game. I think it would be cool to see two other people play while you sit back and enjoy the game :)

Asianpride55
12-28-2006, 01:47 PM
That would be very interesting if they did make that idea but I know tao won't they would probably say it would take too much money, money that tao doesn't have which is a lie. But I did enjoy the thought of being able to view other people's games.

ricardu
12-28-2006, 03:08 PM
actually not a good idea, for what i understood everyone could see your set, and set a setup that will have advantage against yours, like a bomb or i dunno, well avatar is ok for me, it would help the gold bombers and also no one would put your set up in a arena waitting for a game knowen that everyone know your formation and can easily make something that will work greatly vs it..

A better idea would be you choose the side of the arena you want to be in the setting, i mean not when you play someone in the arena the one who pic up will play up and down will play down too, but on settings, like i have difficutl of concentration playing down, i really cant, if i find an opponent that has the same problem, it would be like a fight to see who will play top, i think it is a good idea and not anything hard to improve..

Asianpride55
12-28-2006, 04:40 PM
Maybe you should get a option of inviting people to see your game instead of anyone seeing it. RICARDUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!...I just felt like doing that :).

ok...weird... well, anyways I think it would be cool if the observers could talk amongst themselves(assuming we can have observers) to discuss what's going on while the players are unaware of this talking beetween the observers.

- Too much Lag
- Boards too small
- pressure added to both players
- Say that one of the people battling is part of a clan. Then other clan members that were watching could give advice to the person in battle through clan talking. Games are meant to be 1v1 with no advice from other players during gameplay.
- A reason why people would clog up the lobby, just to watch games.

Silence, haters.

-It would not cause very much lag at all
-It would not be hard to code, at all. I could do it in a few hours. The graphics would be hard, but completely doable with the models we have now. Hey, let the community make the graphics if you don't want to do it yourself, I'm sure someone would be willing.
-Yes, everyone could see your set if they wanted to look. So? Right now anyone who speaks with the guy you last played can have the same advantage. If you want to be completely secure, change your sets every game; if you don't care (like me), this isn't a reason to start to care.
-If it really bothers you so much make it an option so you can choose not to have it on. And yeah, make it gold-only of course.

On the plus side:

-People could see how the best players played, helping them get better
-It's fun to watch other people's games

The only bad thing about this is it would give people yet another excuse to clog up the lobby instead of playing games, which is very annoying at times.

Oh yeah! And for all you people trying to catch cheating this would be great as well. Right now we only have indirect evidence for cheating, this would give us proof.

Excellent idea Shme!

It'd be cute, but not very pleasant to watch for long periods of time.

EDIT: Would help with the endings of tourneys. People could just watch and know what's up.
