I closed all programs and only played the tactic online 1.55b with internet explorer 6 , Flash player 9.
All words became very large and there were low system resources, less than 0% all in a sudden.
After I close it , and everything back to normal.
I played this game in 2005 and everything was works fine for me,unfortunately , i dunno what updated in the game made by can't play.:(

One word. -> ROFL
Okay, so that is actually kinda four words. Whatev'. Time for a new computer. You're 9 years out of date. Meaning that your system is like.. 27x worse than the worse systems sold today.

Maybe, but i play TAO on an even slower PC, so this is not the problem.
By the way, not everyone is a spoiled child with access to always the newest hardware, so "rofl" is not really appropriate. Your last response to his help request was actually better:
Reformatting might get rid of anything corrupt you might have, such as a virus or spyware. Although you might not know it, it could be lagging your computer.
Don't install AOL. Use Firefox if at all possible. Newer versions of AIM lag. Acrobat Reader takes up alot of memory. Anything like DVD's, other games, or system file moving / defragmenting shouldn't be going on while playing TAO.
Good luck.Yes, i suggest reformatting the drive and maybe install a better OS. Win 2000 should work fine, if you can get it. Then use Firefox and don't install tons of unneeded software crap, which just eats memory.

It all depends on the computer. The fact that you play on a slower one doesn't mean much. His is too old to work well while playing tao. Getting a new computer is the only solid solution.

I don't see many spoiled children on here, cause they all have sucky computers. I've worked for everything I have, thank you. If I'm spoiled in anything, it is that I'm spoiled in my freedom that my parents allow me to do what I want and in turn make the money and gain the knowledge to do what I do.

Windows 2000 itself takes up 64mb of ram. That leaves him just under 200mb to work with. Currently, my AIM is using 13, explorer is using 25, and the sum of the system proceses are using 450ish. Granted I'm on XPx64. Reformatting might help, a new OS will most likely hurt.

Getting a new computer is the only solid solution.I disagree with this, and would have you look towards EatMine's response: reformatting an old computer to get rid of all the gunk you accumulated over the years that's sucking off resources will help you. The newer opperating systems do a better job of freeing up resources, so *if* you can, try to wipe the slate clean with Windows XP. But no, you don't need a new computer, just a good cleaning. :)

M_G's post about feeling fortunate for being better off than others comes to mind here.

Explain to me how a new OS that's explorer uses more resources than the old OS would free up resourses? If you had looked at that image he look, 255MB of RAM. Windows XP needs 128MB of RAM to even install, this to me is called cutting things too close. Granted, you can go in and fix up an old computer to run. In the end though you're just feeding a hamster with 3 legs so he can make that one last revolution around his wheel before he finally chokes on the very food you're giving him and dies.

and thus you come back to... my solution. :) (eatmine's originally, but yeah, he was right from the start).
with the older windows OS, if you load, say, AIM, and then completely exit it, and then repeat this with other programs, you are MUCH more likely to crash then if you did the exact same thing on XP. It recovers its resources much more efficiently without a restart. Anyone who's run a computer into the ground knows this. You, on the other hand, seem a bit too spoiled for that type of knowledge. ;)

Actually, mine originally, just not in this thread. Look at the quote.

I'm too spoiled for that type of knowledge? That doesn't even make sense.
So next time you're repeatedly exiting and opening programs just to test how fast the OS can free up resourses, let me know, I'll slap you for being a moron. In the end, if you have windows constantly open and arn't being some sort of idiot, XP takes up more resourses to run than 95 does.

Weird how I'm always... right. New computer. If reformatting didn't work, you need to part ways with your old hamster.

I just played TAO with a Pentium III ~500 MHz, 256 MB RAM and Windows 2000 - no problems at all.
Maybe Flash 9 is buggy in Windows 98, or maybe the accelerator is crap. If you're talking about the "Intel application accelerator", a google search for "Intel application accelerator problems" results in 700,000 hits, which to me sounds like it is crap.
If you cannot get new hardware and still want to play TAO, i recommend installing Windows 2000 without any additional software or performance tweaking (forget the accelerator).

Dunno. I never really got to know you dirka. But since you argued with me. I ignored you. I'll unblock you when I feel like going and unblocking you. I have intent, but I'm not likely to.
