Every time I stand up, I walk 20 steps or so and faint. It's happened about 13 times now. Is it normal to do so?

Yeah, it's normal. I actually get worried if I don't pass out more than five times a day.

No, it's not normal, might it might be explainable.
When you stand up and start moving about quickly, do you feel woozy, or does your vision tend to feel a little blurred? I'm not talking about outright passing out, but a rapid shift like that after remaining in the same position for awhile can result in a sudden change in blood pressure, which would account for blurred vision and dizziness, but not necessarily fainting... Although I guess if you're trying to do too much too quickly after doing not enough for too long, your blood pressure could shift quickly enough to cause fainting.
My advice: If you're planning on sitting or lying down for an extended period of time, stand up and stretch every once in awhile, or take a short walk every 30 minutes or so, to keep yourself regulated. If you spend too much time in the same place, take it easy before getting up and moving about again.
Ultimately, however, I'd have to say don't sit still for too long, and it shouldn't matter. :wink2:

You got the part about my vision becoming blurred, so blurred that eventually I can't see anything. But all I have to do is sit down for five minutes or so, and it happens. It even happens at school.

the only thing ive heard of that was that my friend was really sick with a very high tempature and was walking to get a 7-up. He got it set it on the counter but forgot it when heading to bed. As he turned around to start to go to his kitchen he passed out head hitting the kitchen tile floor , body on the carpet. He woke up like 30 minutes later.
Anyways, how long do u pass out for?

Happens to me sometimes, but I don't actually pass out. My vision goes black and I can't see for a few seconds. It's just from standing up really quick after sitting for a while.

Exactly, your blood pressure changes too quickly for the rest of your body to compensate. That is minor.
Code, sounds to me like you're experiencing some more serious symptoms, probably of something else. I suggest you get to a doctor and, ah, find someone else to drive you there.

Well, now I know you're lying.
If you're human, you masturbate.
And if you were really passing out, you'd know it's a serious problem and would talk to a doctor, not post here.

I've felt woozy sometimes and my vision gets blurred but I've never pass out for long than a 1 minute happened to me a couple of times. Just take deep breaths and drink water make sure you keep active move around not to much just enough to get your body moving. If that doesn't help you may want to consult with a doctor. I hope you feel better Coder :).

I have masturbated, everyone has. I know that. It's one of Freud's stages of development. But within the past over 10 years (I'm 15, past 10 years I really don't remember), unless I was doing it and I don't remember, I haven't done it. Actually, only 8% of males have lied about having masturbated, however, I think it was 74 percent of females that denied having masturbated.
2. My parents don't give a damn about my health. They always assume that if I am sick, I'm lying about it to get out of school, or something else. Even if I prove to them that I have nothing that I'm getting out of.

Woah woah woah. You count how many steps you take before you pass out, you look at a clock to see how long you pass out, and you count how many times you pass out. I think you're passing out because you're concentrating too hard.

I know the distance between my couch and where I generally pass out. I also generally have the TV on, (I get up because its a commercial break, and when I come back, the commercial break is ending)

I was actually put on medicine for something similar...I get blurred vision, shaky vision, head aches and a sudden blackness to where I cant see at all for a little. After getting a few tests done they discovered the right side of my brain was screwy and they gave me medicine. I refuse to take the medicine.

Oh I just studied this last year. I'ma ask a classmate about fine details, but no, not normal. I remember it was about gravity rushing all the blood to your feet, decreased venous return to the heart, instant pass out. My pysiology professor explained that the worst cases are people who, after getting out of bed, faint, then a few minutes later (since they're on the ground and the blood redistributes), they wake up in a jolt and get up quickly, then faint again, and repeat this cycle.
I do remember the easy solution though: get up slowly. Go from laying down to sitting up slowly. Sit at the edge of your bed. Slowly rise. This will solve your problems in the short term.
Be sure to see a doctor, even the school nurse. I'll look back in my notes and get more details for you.

you need more iron in your blood, I have the same problem.
Maybe Coder has the same problem only with very poor circulation or blood pressure, and he goes far enough to pass out?

I had the same thing for a while. I never went to the doctors, but it happened at least twice a day. Everything would start to go black, I would lose hearing, get a headache, get noxious, and stay in that state for about an hour at a time. I told my parents about it, and they talked to a doctor about it. I didn't go, though.
The doctor told them that my brain was developing unevenly, and that I would have those conditions until my brain developed equally, consistently. He said to take Ibuprofen when I get the symptoms, and to lie down until the symptoms subside. That was when I had just turned 16, early '05. The symptoms went away around Christmas of that year.
I tried to explain that to the boss, but I still had to work when I got the symptoms.

Alright, so part of my problem is low blood pressure. I just measured it (Thank god my family has so many blood pressure machines lying around. Because the rest of my family's blood pressure is too high). It's probably a large factor to it.

Same here, Chaos. I just think some of you need to adopt a healthier lifestyle. It's all about diet and exercise. Treat your body like a temple and it will respond in.....Wait. Hang on a second. I have to get up to answer the phone.
