This thread will be simply to help me get some ideas for my Signature Competition that I will be holding next week. Haven't really planned anything out and I been attempting to plan out what I was going to do, but I just been to busy as of lately. The winner will be getting 2 months of gold free paid by me. I'm not sure how I am going to set up the voting system yet, I think what I want to do is get some of the mods together and some random people that ARE NOT in the competition to help me narrow it down to a select few and then let the public vote for the top signature. If anyone else has any ideas of how I should hold the voting please share them with me, because I am open for ideas. I am hopeing for a good turn out so everyone please try to put in some info to help me get this thing rolling! Also the voting for the THEME will end NEXT Sunday January 14th. And the Signature competition will start the same day! So let's get the ideas FLOWING! :)

And about the judges I've PM'd about 5 right now, I've got a response back from one, I will wait until I get some responses back then I will gather some more.. I'm really only looking for 6, counting myself. Simply to narrow the competition down. I really am hopeing for at least 20+ entries, so yeah. :)

Earlier at work I was thinking about a Nature theme.
Some examples being of any type of animals, mountains, or anything scenic really.. I really wouldn't want anything with humans or anything like that, no pokemon because obviously not real animals

Have you even seen the Diablo II cinematics? And then the WC3, and even the WoW ones... Wow!

And the fanart... Oh, boy! The fanart! There are some pretty dedicated Blizzard players with fanart out there! The last contest (which had prizes with four figures and higher) was epic...

If you were to use any in-game screenshots, cinematic images, fanart, et cetera, there would be millions of possibilities. Hell, I have half a dozen different banners using just D2 cinematics and fanart involving Tyrael. :wink2:

Being an artist myself I can really appreciate the fan art. Which in my opinion is the best thing you have in that pile of links. Sadly most of them are AMAZING art works, but not renders. I do agree that a few of the links you provided had good images for rendering or had good renders already. but you have to keep in mind that there will be 20+ people (I think I read that somewhere) and I'm sure there will be at least 5 people using the same render. Unless we set up some kind of "dibs" system for all the good renders... the only problem with that is there are more people then good renders, or at least from the links you provided.

My hope was that the fanart would be used, as opposed to the official Blizzard wallpapers/images, and the images I provided were only examples, and not a complete list of what can be used (I just googled the first few pages for the wallpapers and linked from the fanart and contest sections).

Considering that there are thousands apon thousands of fanart images for Blizzard-based games (and not just those on the official site), many of which can be used as classic renders (I created all my Tyrael/Izual ones from fanart, save for one, which was the end-game cinematic). My intention was not on setting limits and boundaries on what could be used (like official Blizzard site renders, et cetera), but examples on what could be used from the most common sources.

Personally, I'm cool with it if Blizzard theme isn't used. I won't be participating if the theme is Blizzard or something that will include Blizzard, as the only banners of old I still have saved are from Diablo II, and one psych trip one, and I don't have any banner-making programs on my computer... But I figured I'd still throw the idea out there. :)

my guess is that that applies only to the blizzard created art. the fanart would be the property of the creator who would set the limits of its use. i didnt have time to search for a fanart specific copyright thing there. (not that i'd understand)

its like finding warcraft fanart on DA. i wouldnt use it until i knew its safe. as much as the entire concept of hugging your own work and not letting anyone else touch it pains the hell out of me, getting reported and permabanned across multiple boards just aint worth it.
