Have, and it's still a lot of fun :D It's actually pretty good rhythm training, just like DDR.

Friend of mine and me plan on making the finals at next year's PAX. He's the defending champion from this last year, and I'm doing better than him at GH2 so far, so I've just gotta keep it up for another....7 months :eek:

I thought the exact same thing until my friend forced me to play it. Now I'm hooked. My other friends felt that way as well until I forced them to play it, now they're hooked as well. It's contageous. Great game.

I was really good around the time of Guitar Hero 1 but I seem to have let my skills go since then! I can only play on hard...expert is just too much for me! I'm pretty good at the hard difficulty though...I usually get 5 stars..

I find though that my abilities seem to change everyday! Like one day I'll be amazing and then the next I'm horrible! Weird.

Does anyone know when the xbox 360 version is coming out?

I had trouble with pyschobilly freakout at first too...then I went a few days without playing guitar hero at all, woke up one morning, turned it on, bam. first try. everytime i've had trouble with a song, taking a break always helped me get past it without a problem. except for six...that damn song's impossible

Well, the reason it's harder than a real guitar is because it's more specific. If you miss a note slightly on a guitar, it's not such a big deal. Just keep going.

People probably like it so much because not everyone has the time to actually learn guitar and may not want to. With this revolutionary game, they don't have to. They can just get their game on and have fun.

I played on hyperspeed with my friends for the first time today. It's really not any harder. My one friend who is a God of Guitar Hero played Less Talk More Rokk on Expert on hyper speed and got a 98%.

Exactly. They space them farther which actually kind of makes it easier because you can see the patterns a little easier.

Ive beaten every song on expert on both Except JORDAN AHHH

My fav song though is thunderhorse, mainly because its Dethklok, and everyone likes dethklok but that song is so much fun!
Push Push Lady Lightning is pretty fun, Lisght that blinds is killer, SIX is a hard song, but alot of fun, Warpigs and Freebird are good time killers. (i 4 stared freebid hehee) And Hanger 18 (4 stared it =) ) I am A guitar hero adict, and i am proud. =)

X-BOX was crap compared to PS originally, but they did one really smart thing: strengthen their online environment. 360 came out with a sleek stylish interface, and people just drooled. Wii came out with an incredibly innovative design and gameplay, and people just drooled. PS3 came out with... ??? What? Nothing. BlueRay technology? Useless! It just layed down, and died.

I don't think I'll ever beat Institutionalized on expert, if I practice Hanger 18 and Misirlou, I'm pretty sure I can beat them. Trouble is I never really play unless I'm playing with friends.

There was 16 people and they did it like NCAA Basketball (1 vs 16, 2 vs 15) Our number 1 and 2 guys smoked everyone and went to the finals and the number 1 guy won it...No heart breakers or nothing so it was kinda lame but it was fun to watch because Ive never played guitar hero and these guys were playing on expert and I was like "I could never do that" :p The winner got $25. And after that there was a slushy eating contest and the winner chugged 16 slushys in 1 minute...It was crazy :p

For example, say your friend does two-thousand push ups in a row.
You might think he can do the most out of anyone, EVER.
The startling fact is, he's about eight-thousand away from the record.

Don't think you'll just breeze through the tournament, because I guarantee, there are people thinking the EXACT same thing as you.

Misirlou is hands down my favorite song to play on expert, with Less Talk More Rokk coming in a close second. Misirlou is so awesome, but it makes my arms hurt when I play it ^_^

I love guitar hero, it feels natural to me now, like playing a real guitar (which i do play), so i never had to play easy, medium, or hard, i just went straight to expert, (granted i played 2 player so i couldn't fail). And although i don't own the game i can beat or match all of my friends who play it. I beat everything except six (mainly because i hate the song and quit) and jordan. My best acheivements are probably sweet child where i got 230k and getting 74% of jordan on expert (pro face off).

Indeed. I found I could do a lot more with higher percentages and on higher difficulties faster on the first one. They really did find a way to make II more difficult.

I set up an experiment where my friend played Collide by Anarchy Club, one of the bonus tracks on GH II. Then he attempted the song on expert on the game, knowing the relative positions of the fingerings with the limits of the five buttons. He did rather well with an 84%, but that's not as good as he thought he could do.
That said, the fact with guitars is that you have a lot more freedom of finger movement and one tiny note out of tune here and there will not bring down the song's quality. It will, of course, if you don't time it right or hit the exact button on the game.
Thus, master guitar hero players may not be able to play the real guitar, but they sure pwn a guitarist.:p

He had a list of instructions, he said all you needed to do was put GH2 in yuor computer (which was where I stopped for fear of the "donut" ring on the CD)

Find the binary files for the song, and go to another site (dont know it) who had premade graphics of songs and notes.

Replace that file with the binary file and load up the game.

Burn it to a new DVD and throw it in the ps2

And in July there is an 80's encore edition coming out which gives you an added 15 or 20 80's songs for guitar hero 2. This is rumored to be available for the 360 through marketplace, but for the PS2 you have to buy it seperate.

Yeah, the first GH is harder in that...The hammer-ons an pull-offs aren't as advance, so playing like bark at the moon on expert is absolutely rediculous. Now, I can play the songs on expert, don't think i've 5starred bark at the moon though. I even know the songs from the first one, well more so then from GH2, which also helps a great deal, an I also play guitar in RL :P

Guitar Hero and playing a Guitar are totally different things.. Yes same concept, but Guitar Hero is relies more on hand and eye coordination, Yes you can get to point in where you memorize the notes and such. A real guitar isn't as much as hand and eye coordination imo.

I need practice technuiqes to get back up to expert level. Reading and following isn't and issue, but physically, I can't get the fingerings again to happen for hard/expert speeds. Just went through 80's encore on medium no sweat, and been sure to maintain expert style holding, just need to be able to move my hand for the hammer on's again.

Ideas would be appreciated, as I'm basically just playing through stuff in practice modes slower then faster to help it out, but it's slow going.

Do pinching exercises, that is practice pinching your thumb and each finger individually.

A good game to practice this on that would also get some of your motor skills practiced is a game like perfection where you have to put pieces in the correct spot the right way. Also, if you can find a way to attach clothes' pins to the pieces and lift them only that way it would further help with the pinching.

Also, not a bad idea to get a stress-reliever ball, you know those soft kinds you can squeeze and it works your wrist. If not just get those squeezing machine clamps (I'm talking about the ones from the gym usually that you use the same way as the ball, you squeeze it, there's a fairly strong resistance force and you use it to work your wrist).

Do you remember play-do as a kid? That clay-like substance, but it never dries? Get that and put a lot of little tiny pegs in it, mix it up. Then as fast as you can (but don't hurt yourself obviously) try to get the pegs out.

My mother is an occupational therapist who works as a hand therapist at a local clinic. Most of these are things I've seen at her work. I can recommend more if you'd like, but some of these exercises are not as easy to mimic without access to interesting supplies.

Lastly, if you can, I would recommend physical or occupational therapy if you're not already getting it.

Meh, tell me about it. I'm 34/40 on the log (with scores within 5K of the cutoff for Beast and the Harlot and Hangar 18), and I only have three career songs I have 3* on - Carry Me Home (which I haven't tried since I completed it), Psychobilly Freakout, and Misirlou. After several weeks of on-and-off practice on these songs I've just today gotten my score on Psychobilly Freakout over 100,000. I think I'm still 70K+ short of the 5*. :roulette:

I do marginally better at Misirlou simply because it's easier to hit the right fret buttons and I can strum really fast, but it's hard to keep tempo!

If you bought any of the bonus tracks, play Red Lottery and Parasite on Expert. Red Lottery is possibly the slowest song in any Guitar Hero game, and Parasite... Well, Parasite's just plain easy.

Also, try playing with G-Y-B-O fingering, while moving your index between G and R when necessary (only move the rest of your hand when really necessary). That fingering will help with a lot of songs, especially in the later tiers.

I play RYBO. And move my index to green. It seems to work okay, but the killer thing on expert is that it has a lot of GR chords which often screw up my entire finger placement for a few bars.

I pretty much always thought the last boss would be the devil. "Lou" is a shortened phonetic version of "Lucifer" and "Lou's Inferno" is basically a parody of "Dante's Inferno", which is, of course, Hell.

But the "Devil Went Down to Georgia" confirmation floored me.

Needless to say I'm pleased, and more than a little surprised that all these confirmations fit perfectly with the "leaked" list, including the Disturbed one (ugh).

Guess that means I wait another year for "Walk This Way" and "The Spirit of Radio"...

I played for 3 hours strait. I'm typing one handed, because the only reason I stopped was because I could no longer hold the guitar in my hand. It was pure agony. For Reign In Blood, , I agree. MOSH 1 is bluddy ridiculous. thats the ONLY section i have trouble on. Still have to get that segment above about 50% in practice. On hard. I was smart starting off on Hard rather than expert. One was actually quite simple (2 tries to not screw up the solo and fail)

as for favorite song... i may agree with Hellblazer here. Cult of Personality is just fun as hell. One handing the large insane sections on the solo is uber fun. There are a few other great ones too. The Pat Benetar song makes me want to murder people though. I hate it. heh.]

anyone have a cure for hammer-on/slide induced GuiterHero PInky Blister? its turning into a callus now, but it still gets annoying.

I 5 starred all but the last 2 songs on 80's edition on sight read. I havn't played much GH3 yet cuz I don't have it yet, but from what I have played, it's harder than 80's.

I disagree. Cult of Personality is fun, but Lay Down by Priestess is just pure joy to listen to AND play (and master--according to ScoreHero, I have the top score for the PS2 on Expert for this song :) [edit: 3rd... Two people topped my #1 score :(]).

Overall, however, my favourite song to play AND listen to HAS to be Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll. Too bad it's a co-op encore, and tier 4 no less, but it's still fun to play. If you have a second guitar, or even a dualshock controller, convince a friend to help you get this song. It's worth it. Guaranteed.

Just played GH3 last night. Great fun, through the fire and flames is pretty crazy, but I love that song so naturally I had to play it. You guys will all make fun, but keep in mind I don't own the game, but yeah I pretty much only play on medium. And I still have trouble on most of the songs I played.

I definitely like the song selection on this one better then the other two.
Just wish there was some good ska, and more metal.

I can never five star anysong. Cause when I'm hitting every note, I get bored and screw up by accident. Cause like...expert on GH2, is just no challenge anymore, only thing I get a rise out of really is Freebird and Jordan, and even then, I grab more than enough to pass.
