The following is a press release from the Umbrella Corporation:
"We understand that recently there was a panicked news report claiming that there was a viral leak in one of our underground research compunds. This report has been greatly exaggerated, as the area in question was immediately sealed off from the rest of the facility. The situation is entirely under control and there is no danger to the general public. We have already begun the task of cleaning up the area and neutralizing the virus. Please go about your lives as normal"
How to play:
Game objectives:
Humans: run and hide in order to stay alive as long as possible.
Zombies: turn all of the humans into zombies.
Barricades
You're still alive, but unfortunately your neighbors aren't. If you would like to stay alive, it is in your best interest to hole up somewhere the zombies can't get you. This is done with the help of a Barricade. In order to put up a barricade in a thread, post the word "Barricade" in that thread. Your barricade will expire after 12 hours, and each human may only have one barricade at a time per thread. If you try to post a barricade during an ongoing invasion, it won't count. If a thread has one thousand posts or more, it has one permanent barricade on it.
Zombie invasions
A zombie invasion on a thread when a Zombie posts the word "Brains" somewhere within the thread. Once the invasion has begun, Zombies may join the invasion by making any reply before the invasion has concluded. Joining an invasion you are already part of does nothing. One hour after the last invasion post, the invasion has concluded. If the number of barricades is equal to or greater than the number of invading zombies, the invasion has failed. Various zombie parts pile up in front of the barricades and temporarily increase the defenses of that thread. That thread cannot be attacked again for 12 hours (from the end of the invasion). If there are more zombies in the invasion than there are barricades in the thread, the zombies break through and start trying to eat anyone they can find. Anyone with a post less than a week old in that thread is in danger of being eaten. Since the zombies aren't very fast, you have 12 hours to escape from the infected thread. There are rumors of a mutated strain of the virus...
Shooting zombies
When a thread is under attack, humans may kill zombies before the invasion has concluded, reducing the size of the undead mob at the doorstep. To shoot a zombie, include the word "shoot" in your post along with the name of the zombie you are shooting. Due to a shortage of ammunition, you may only shoot one zombie per invasion. Shortly after being gunned down, the zombie will rise again to seek out easier targets. A shot zombie does not count towards the number of zombies in an invasion. If you accidentally shoot a human instead of a zombie, that human will die. Since all humans are on the same side, you shouldn't do this.
How to escape
In order to escape from an invaded thread, you must post the word escape in that thread. If you make any other posts in that thread during the 12 hour escape period, it will void your escape attempt. In order for the escape to count, you have one hour to make another post somewhere in the forums. After the escape period is over, it is safe to post in that thread again.
Quarantine
The military has discovered the zombie outbreak, and they quarantined the forum. Nobody is allowed out on the chance they might be a zombie. Anyone who has not made any posts for one week has attempted to break through the military camp and was shot. There is a high chance they will live again as a zombie. It is rumored that R&D has discovered a method to save a partially infected human from becoming a zombie. Their research is expected to complete in a month; once they have arrived the military will begin evacuation of any humans still alive before they bomb the forum into dust.
Misc. Rules
When a zombie invasion has concluded, the zombie who started it should send me a pm with a link to the initiating post and the final tally. If you are not the initiating zombie and you think some sort of political intrigue is preventing the initiating zombie from sending me the pm, you may send one as well. I just don't want ten of them for the same attack.
Edits for invasion related posts are not allowed.
Multiple accounts are off limits for the purpose of this game. If someone catches you doing it, they will likely start some sort of drama to get you disqualified.
If there are any humans alive after one month, humans win. Otherwise, zombies win.
If you have confirmed zombie activity you may post here and I will update the list of humans. Otherwise I will wait an arbitrary number of days before removing the person from the list.
If you are not on the list of humans or you think you aren't playing, you are a zombie.
