Hey guys, I ran a search on this topic and nothing of the sort came up. If there was a thread like this, well it obviously didn't last. Anyway, I've noticed that these forums are growing and I'd like to give a lot of the forumers out there an incentive (other than a good reputation) to provide helpful informaton to others, and therefore make some quality posts.

Forumer of the Week

Objective:
I believe the forums will be a better place if people have this thread in mind, and the recognition they would recieve if they were renounced the "Forumer of the Week". Despite the fact that a lot of you Vets.. (yes you..) have been acting quite ..delarious? on most threads lately, I would appreciate it if you took this rather seriously. What I'd like to do is create a better, more enjoyable and interesting, environment for us to post in when we have free time. Lots of the threads created lately have triggered mass amounts of spam.


How The Forumer Of The Week Will Be Chosen:
We have a lot of forumers who have been around for quite some time now and also have accumulated impressive reputations. Many of these Vets find the people here interesting, and also are interesting themselves as they usually have an impact on keeping the board free of spam, or simply providing their input on a topic. Most of them are indeed truthworthy, and have great reputations. For these reasons, I will allow any of these guys (see specifications on "Judges") to become a Judge in this contest to choose who the forumer of the week was. I expect each one to PM me with a name and a reason to why they should be the forumer of the week, and they may choose one of the judges if they believe it to be formidable. I also will accept PMs from forumers whom are not judges, but wish to give their opinion on the matter, and I will discuss their feelings with the judges to see if it sways their opinion.


Judges:
Anyone who wished to be a judge can be one, and they may choose to join at any time, as long as I am informed. Please keep in mind I do not have anything against any of the forum members. I hope that if you have been around for a while, you sign up to be a judge. If you have only been around for 1-2 months, or have a rather negative reputation, I suggest that you get to know the board a little better, and then in time we will accept you as a judge. I EXPECT the following of each judge:

-He/She has been in the forums for at least 6 months.
-He/She has a good reputation here. (I don't care about the exact "rep", but if other seem to respect you, and whether you are polite here).
-He/She will NOT nominate someone just because they have close ties with them.
-He/She does not have anything against others here, at least when nominating a forumer of the week.
-He/She is an actie forumer and posts almost every day.
-He/She will keep in touch with me as well as the other judges.

These are not exact requirements, just a framework for what it takes to be a judge. Most of you people who have posted here frequently and for over a year easily have what it takes to be a judge.


"The Forumer of the Week" Title:
This is the title that will be given to the forumer who recieved the highest recognition in the voting. The winner of the week will be announced every Sunday, hence the first nomination will be presented next Sunday, the 25th. Someone who has recieved this title may not be nominated again for 8 weeks (approximately 2 months); we'd like many people to have a shot.


A Final Word:
I hope that the judges will lean towards newer members once in a while for this title, so we can boost their moral if they are trying to make the best of their forum experience, as well as ours. I hope the winner will recieve some reputation from most of the judges. I will not be considered a judge, but the host, rather. I hope this thread will be successful, but will understand if you guys don't like this idea. This thread is certainly not a joke; it's purpose is for the better of these forums. I will have to reserve a few posts after this for the judge list, and the forumer of the week records.

P.S. Although I am not good with computers, I willdo my best to make a fancy tag to put in your signature here if you are either a judge, or are the forumer of the week. (The forumer of the week tag will have a date with it). May this thread last!

Well, it all depends on the quality of your posts throughout this week and whether the judges favor you over others. It may be tough work to win this contest because there are a lot of good forumers here, but you will feel accomplished if you do win. Good luck.

Of course, the fact that signatures have a 500 character limit hasn;t dawned on him how many characters his faded text uses..... And if Imageshack was to get involved, I'd simply use one of the other dozen image hosters, or one of my 8 websites to host it.

I wanted to spread a positive intent for newer members to have quality posts, but the most frequent poster was the one to steal the tag when he didn't deserve it. I am stopping this thread for some time, I will probably pick it up again in 2-3 months. I have 3 reasons for doing this:

1. A couple of the judges have been inactive in terms of PMing me their votes. (Only about 2 have been inactive, not that big of a deal, but it does effect the outcome for each week).

2. Some people have expressed extremely negative opinions toward the purpose of this thread.

3. People do not seem to be motivated enough to strive for this award, and some people have put tags in their signature without permission.


I thank all of the judges up to this point for participating, and also congratulate the winners. Feel free to take those tags out of your signatures if you think they are a waste of space. I'll see you in 2-3 months. Peace guys, and thanks. :)
