Wipe Suggestion

I'm not 100% sure How this could be made possible. But i was brainstorming and thought of something that could be useful to greys.:bigsmile:

I think it would be a great idea to make a wipe system that would automatically wipe each grey a months time after the grey is made.

For example: I make a grey named bob on the 1st of March. In a months time (April 1st) bob would automatcally be wiped.

The programming would be long and hard. And very difficult ;). But I think that it would be a greater way to make things equal around the grey community.

Any comments or add ons? :bigsmile:

Erm...just wondering, what does Seed have to do with the last 4 months? Seed left more than a year ago...recent problems would fall on the admins here.

As to the idea, it's a pretty good one, but there's no one to implement advanced coding into the game like that. It would take a lot of work, and there's only one admin who seems to care.

Deepsea - you're wrong. There's nothing wrong with the wipe system in the least, and that quote from Seed (who currently has NOTHING to do with FPS) holds no current bearing on the site. You did a good job quoting, but you'd also find that the stats on the wisp and GA are incorrect as well. It doesn't mean these units are broken in game, it means they just didn't bother to update the site. In short, you're wrong - the wipe system is fine, the administration just actively chooses not to wipe every single month.

This server has nothing to do with Seed whatsoever - we are completely self-suficient in fixing things.

Shiznit - your idea is well intentioned in that it would provide a more regular method of wipes and would level the playing field a bit more. I got my 1400 as a grey in a single month, and thus am not impressed by other greys doing it in 3-5 months.

However, at its heart, the purpose of each wipe is to entice greys to upgrade to gold. Basically the marketing plan is to actively get everyone talking about the wipe, knowledgable about when it will come, etc etc, and even postpone it slightly after when it will reportedly come in hopes of getting a few more gold upgrades in. Because of that effective marketing tactic, I doubt it would be changed.

Thanks for posting tho - I'm glad to see the flamers haven't scared everyone off. :)

A couple things. Zander is correct: while the gray wipe used to be every month, I can't remember the last time 2 wipes were only a month apart. It's been getting spaced out forever it seems like.

As for the idea: as Jeffery would no doubt tell you if he were here, TAO is a business. Grays don't bring TAO any money, unless they upgrade to gold. Gray account features on not a priority to TAO, nor do they really care if your account was treated fairly. This applies to the wipe, dumping of units, loss of stats, and golds jumping grays. TAO's solution to any gray problem is simple, just make a new account (they're free after all), or better yet upgrade to gold.

Asking TAO to fancy up the gray accounts is bad business, because the point is to encourage an upgrade to gold. Not to mention, the wipe doesn't even happen that often now, and a month is plenty of time to play. The game is (after all) not supposed to be about stats, it's supposed to be about playing the game (ha).

I am not complaining.:( I just posted an idea about updating the wipe system.

I am a gold member. I have been for the last 2 months. Some clan members kept asking for invites. As for others were not deleted. I was making a sugesstion on how to make wipe systems better. Instead of having it every 3 months.

I personally enjoy not having to type /invite so-and-so every month. I have no reason to complain. and i don't understand why you think I was.;)

Grays are trial accounts, you don't get privileges while being one.
We already have a grey wipe system. Every month it comes, but this month's wipe didn't work like it was suppost to.

Seed has NOTHING to do with this server, besides the units and updates(I think?) Bills, redbones, and serg run FPS, not Seed. Seed has nothing to do with what has been going on in FPS. Not like you would know or anything, because we flamed you so hard that you left and cried to legends, and after they flamed you so hard you came back here and are STILL being flamed. they don't HAVE to wipe monthly, and the time they wipe somewhat depends on how many new greys sign up, and when the administration feels like it is time to speed things up by clearing out all that grey mass of mostly once used accounts. As with legends, what it says on the website is loosely followed, especially the actions that are manual by the admin of the game location. Greys that form a new account and are wiped the very next day can easily get frustrated, and this idea is a good one on that account, but the whole timing system, as you did say, would take a very long time to program, and the programming is done by seed who DEFF doesn't have the time right now to do that, he doesn't even have ample time to fix legends up, but is starting to do so as we speak, starting with the upgrade system. Since this is a commercial server, wipes due to inactivity is not an option, as the staff wants to encourage people to upgrade and allow their account to stay for as long as they pay - its a business of funds after all.
