My Wins. =D

People have started to post all their wins and stuff, but never give any REAL battle reports about them. Over half the people that they vs sometimes you never know who they are. Let me give you some games I've done and I'd like to show.

AlabamaBoy

Most of you know him as bama. He competes in tournaments, as well as the FPS turtle tourney. Our game went pretty well, I thought, until he made a major mistake by blocking his scouts. I took this into advantage in freezing his drag and protecting my units by this. He had wasted his wisp and mud by getting my stone focus and furgon. I just started to advance, since he could not use mud quake, and took out stone focus/cleric, doing as much damage as possible. Here was the final outcome. My scout had 20 damage, 1 wait turn, as did his knight but had 30 damage and his frost had 24.

This guy is indeed, a 1700+ on Banff, and yes, I beat him by 8. Although it was a clan game, I put a little fear in his belt for the next time we play. Simply put, he tried to flank and failed, while losing mud and scouts. He then realized too late that he had messed up with my furg. I just continued to attack and almost flawlessed!

My game with spence was fun and exciting, but a same side game hurt him a lot. He is not very good same side as he is opposite. He got my cleric after a tough struggle, which allowed me to get his mud and 1st scout. He also was very lucky with a 80% and 70% scout block. It didn't help him any though, when I pulled through for the win. He also needs to work with the Furgon more.

This game was opposite alpha turtles. The game was very fun as he tried to flank me. I had to think A LOT in this game in order to take home the win. He lost his 1st scout, mud, and wisp, leaving him at a major disadvantage, seeing as I had Furgon. This was a great game.

I thought that this game was going to be a lot harder than it actually was, seeing as though I was turtling as my free.(Revelation) I blocked his Mud from advancing my units with my Furgon. I then stoned and started to pwn. I frosted his scout that tried to flank me, defeated it, as well as mud. I just continued to protect myself and do damage as I healed, and it worked. She got off one unit, but surrendered before the game was over. I was hoping for a better game than this, to tell you the truth.

This game was rather fun, as most of them are. We did alpha turtles, opposite sides. This was possible one of my hardest games I have ever done. He flanked me AND attacked me from my front door. I came through though with the win. I just did what I normally do and protected my units as I attack, taking out scout/mud/scout/wisp. I believe his last attacking unit was a dragon, over in my area with a knight. One of my best games yet.

Nice job phil! I liked these a little more than Perfect's wins because you included descriptions. Very well done, and I hope you will continue to add more. Rep for you, you deserve it. Peace. :)

Good job including descriptions, but I still don't like the point of these threads: Lots of (relatively) new players compile screenshots of their greatest wins and make a thread about it to stroke their own ego.

1) These serve no purpose but to say, "Look how great I am at this game"

2) They are a very one-sided description of the player's TAO career. I don't see anyone posting their horrible losses, and most of the good players don't care enough to take screenshots. Even if they do, they don't list their wins. They let their play do the talking, and count on their reputation to tell people how good they are. An individual saying, "I'm so good" rarely works the way you want it to. When your peers say, "he's really a great player", that's when people start to believe it.

3) It used to be threads like these included great names, players that no one thought could be beaten. The netjaks, the SIs, the Bgs of old. Back when skill was the major part of this game, and you truly kicked ass to beat the likes of Frylock or Bottle. Nowadays, luck can decide a battle from start to finish, especially with the aggressive style of play that has become so commonplace. While some of the people you list may be good players, the are by no means dragons to be slain on the field of battle. More like you killed an elk and cut off its antlers to flaunt around.

Sorry this rant came in your thread, you actually did this semi-classy like. I just don't see the need to tally your wins, unless you're trying to compensate for something (nothing dirty, simply a lack of reputation or such). Have confidence in your abilities, let your play do the talking.

I just went through and read a bunch of this one guy, phil's, supposed "battle reports"- None of them were actual battle reports! Worse yet, he wasn't even bragging about victories over any highly(even loosely) esteemed players, simply par level players who're slightly well known on the forums! I wanted to rip my teeth out in frustration. Thank Steven Pressfield for people like you.
