Well, I don't play much these days, but with my recent invite to Clan Omnipotent, I decided to raise some stats on my IBox account, and start playing some more. I got into games with some noob, who either surrendered or helped kill himself each time. I then jumped kuruptx (currently of netjak). I had never met him before, and I figured any jakker could give me a good game. I used my normal, unique turt, he had a sameside anti, 3 knights and a dragon front row.

He side hit my knight, and I shot his mud with my first scout. He was content concentrating on tha knight, and in the same number of turns I had his mud dead. But I made the noob mistake of advancing my dragon too far, and he frosted and killed it relatively easily. I am now down my two high hps units, and all I have to show is his mud.

I guess I had pretty much resigned my fate at this point, but I stoned up and mounted an attack anyway. He laid back a little, probably figuring my wisp/mud/2 scouts weren't much of a threat. I flanked him a little and took a scout in for his cleric. My mud soon followed, but took a beating. I sacrificed my wisp and mud to do a cool combo on his cleric, and finished off one scout. I injured his other units, then retreated back. He has 3 knights, all high health, a frost close to full, and a dragon close to full, plus an 18 hp scout. All I have are 2 scouts, cleric, frost, stone.

I was enjoying the game by this point, learning how to play again, and I began picking off his scout and knights. Some nifty frostwork got the game close, and if his knight hadn't blocked a 60% and a 66% shot, I may have pulled out a win. But I managed to weaken his knight enough to kill it with my final scout, leaving only his dragon on the board. He pursued, killed my scout, but I knew I had already secured the draw. Considering he had a huge form advantage, first turn, and some decent blocking, I was kind of proud to come back after my early mistakes. Take a look at what happened next.

I quickly screenshotted, and by the time I made it back to the lobby he was already name-calling and complaining about the draw. I only took one screen of his chatter, but you get the idea. This went on for minutes, and I didn't even have to say much as meat had already explained the situation to him.

I was severely disappointed in this guy. The game was well-played, and he was friendly throughout. I guess the stats were just too much for him to handle, but we still drew, and he got a few out of it. I got a good laugh out of it. He obviously thought the rules had cheated him out of his win. Damn that 3-turn dragon wait, I must be a cheater.

If he was smart he could have avoided the draw. If he had moved to were your Stone Golem was, then not attacked. Then attack and not move he would only have a two turn wait, thus winning him the game.

like I said, kuru is not the smartest netjakker around.

How can you have a draw there?

If he moved his dragon then waited to attack, then didnt move following that and had a two turn wait he could have pulled off a win.

Nice job KBH, I was hoping for some screenies of the game though.

No, the draw was definite, he had just killed my scout, and his dragon was on 3-turn wait. If he hadn't moved and attacked my scout, I could have just continued attacking his dragon.

Ah, thanks for that last post, KB, that explains why it is a sure draw. Otherwise, people are right, it would take a while, but moving and not attacking with the dragon (and then attacking and not moving) will eventually defeat a stone golem.

I think your play makes perfect sense. When I'm in a situation where it looks like a loss, I'll always try and force them into a dragon draw. Sometimes it works, but more often (surprisingly), they don't see what I am trying to do and wind up over-extending their dragon, exposing it and allowing me to kill it and to pull off a win.

As much as I dislike it when I myself get trapped in a dragon draw, it's part of the game...if I do it to others, I shouldn't get mad when it happens to me.

Besides, contrary to kuruptnoob's viewpoint, if you don't kill all their units, then you haven't won, within the parameters of the game.

Well done.

I must admit that when I still played on Legends, probably like 50 years ago, I was pissed off as well when somebody did this to me for the first time.

I didn't know about the dragon-draw yet and I was PISSED, but now when I acquired a little(<-keyword!) TAO wisdom it's perfectly fine. Like meat said, one of the disadvantages of the dragon.

Good job.

Omnipotent for the win!
