Does anyone know where I can by a decent automatic-assist knife, also known as a switch-blade or stiletto, for under forty dollars?

That's all I wanted to ask...

Yeah...

Yeah, I was going to say ebay.

But, you shuold check into the laws in your areas.... "switchblades" are illegal in some areas, while "one-handed opening knives" aren't....

Hello internet, I am cool because I want a switchblade. I don't see the problem that no one here is in my area. I also don't know how to use ebay, or google. Thank you, and bye.

Ignore T3k, he's a wash-up.

I've searched ebay and google, but I just can't find anything decent for forty bucks.

I was just wondering if anyone had any good knive sites or something.

Thanks, anyways.

What do you need this knife for, anyways?

Just to prove that you are an idiot, I found a lot of knives under and at forty of the description you asked off google in about 10 seconds.

I have a sweet stilletto that has a pop-up blade. It comes up through the end and locks in place....

But I'll be damned if you could get it that cheap.

I am a knife guy. My advice is.

Wait until you can buy a Benchmade knife, it is a very good brand with prices that are reasonable for the product they offer.

Any peice of junk you buy for forty dollars will fail on you. Both in steel quility and in mechanics.

Dont buy a switchblade. Buying a switchblade under ~$250.0 is a bad idea in my opinion. If the mechanism fails you are out money and a knife. Springs = Bad.

Buy a fixed blade, I recomend Damascus steel, it is folded steel at it's finest.

Spyderco
Benchmade
AG Russel

Remember these names.

There are many times when a switchblade is so much better suited than a fixed or buck blade though. Seriously.

But I do agree with the price issue. Cheap knives are just that, cheap knives. Also, if the mechanism on a switchblade fail, you can also end up with some serious safety issues.

What I love about knives and swords is the fact that swords are taxed heavier when being imported. So I have bought many "37" Hunting Knives. ;)

BTW, stay away from Pakastani Steel. I have had some of the cheaper ones shatter while sparring.

You actually do something Jeff? I had you pictured as that big computer nerd from the world of warcraft episode on South Park.

BamaBoy is right though. A good switchblade is expensive. I prefer a one-hand opening knife. There are several manufacturers of these knives.

Chinatown

seriously, anything along this sort of topic is where I go for my arsenal needs on the cheap sort

you get what you pay for...but if you only need a cheap knife, why get something more expensive?

edit: And swords are an entirely different topic Nec :p

I have a WW2 gravity knife. Don't know if they make them anymore, but I love it. And it's a nice alternative to a switchblade. Safer, too.

I've decided not to get a switchblade.

I'm just going to get a one-hand-operated knife.

Something like this: http://www.thebladeshop.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3597

It looks pretty sturdy. I'd say it's probably worth $57.

I'll tell you when I get it.

"Knives. Let's not scar another generation." - Slogan provided by the Scottish Executive (I think) to help people get knives off the street.

Out of curiousity though, what do you need to knife for?

If I were you I would go for a higher quality steel. Considering that is low grade and will wear down quickly.

Cliches an emo kid, nonconforming as can be
You'd be nonconforming too if you looked just like Cliche
Cliche gots paint on his nails and makeup on his face
Cliche is almost emo enough to start shaving his legs

Cause Cliche feels real deep when he's dressing in drag
Cliche calls it freedom of expression girls just call him a fag
Cause the dudes look like chicks and chicks look like dykes
Cause emo is one step below transvestite

Stop my breathing and slit Cliche's throat
Cliche must be emo
Cliche doesn't jump around when he goes to shows
Cliche must be emo

I've carried a number of different Gerber knives over the years. They make a great blade, and I like supporting those decent, hard-working folks from Portland Oregon.

The only knifes I know of are the ones where you press the little releaser thingamaboober and it shocks you. :( I feel left out. Infact, I don't even think I have one of those anymore. All I have is a pen that shocks people. I'M SUCH A FAILIURE!

Even Gerber knives? What about Tillamook cheese?
I'm from Washington, but if a man can't appreciate a good knife and a good hunk o' cheddar.....well.....then...

I forgot what I was talking about.

Ah, haha. I have a Gerber knife. First thing I could think when I got it is they've got the same name as the baby food company.

True story.

:)

God, I suck.

Besides,
