Fate's Decision

Hi. I thought of a few ideas from reading some of the stuff here in suggestions, incorporated into one little window called "Battle Preparations".
This is a window that would appear at the start of every battle that lets you customize the standings.
You could be given the following options:
• Ranked Battle - If both players chose this, the match will not affect rating. The winner will still receive a drop upon victory, however.
• Blocking Correction - Blocking and hitting bonuses based on unit blocking behavior is removed.
• Setup - Allows player to choose a setup. Three other setup variables can be stored in the personal setup menu, and then set active in the Battle Preparations. This option is available to golds only.
• Ranged Stalling - Toggles hold on ranged units during the first turn.
• Deathmatch - See below
• Randomization - When both players select this, 10 units are randomly placed on the each side of the field from the default unit availability (no drops are used). Ranked Battle automatically switches off.
• Turn Expiration - Allows you to change the amount of time you’re allowed for each turn. If the amount is rejected, it returns to the default and cannot be changed.
• Hopeless Victory - If a player’s only remaining units are of one or more of: Cleric, Poison Whisp, Stone Golem, Barrier Ward, the player is defeated. If they have ANY other unit type remaining the match continues. This option is turned on by default.
• Opponent Speech - Makes only clan speech available in battle.
• Grey Battle - Sets a gold’s “Setup 4” to active. This just proves that gold units will not be used by that player.
• Forfeit - Skips battle and automatically sorts rating.

*Deathmatch*
In this mode both players will have two turns at a time. During the first turn of a period, 1-turn recovery units can move twice the spaces at the cost of the remaining turn being automatically spent; if these units move to a space within their original movement range, the player can retain his/her remaining turn (note that a double-movement only works with units that have full recovery). Ranged stalling does not occur in this mode; the player who goes first will start out with only 1 turn instead.

In a gold’s personal settings there are setup tabs on the right side with the other customization settings. In the fourth tab only grey units are available for that setup.

I also might add that your rating would be at stake as soon as the music sounds. Leaving the Battle Prep menu would be just like forfeiting.

This is kinda unrelated to the Battle Preparations but you should also be able to toggle Useless Facing: skips facing of golem units, the cleric and the enchantress. The turn will automatically end after attacking and movement.

I like the idea, but it'll got shot down by a good amount of others.

Crap. Even though i know very little about the coding in this game. Something as big as this would take alot more coding.

I like some of this ideas too.. list of my comments:

• Ranked Battle - If both players chose this, the match will not affect rating. The winner will still receive a drop upon victory, however. 9th floor?
• Blocking Correction - Blocking and hitting bonuses based on unit blocking behavior is removed.
• Setup - Allows player to choose a setup. Three other setup variables can be stored in the personal setup menu, and then set active in the Battle Preparations. This option is available to golds only. This is fine, suggested before
• Ranged Stalling - Toggles hold on ranged units during the first turn.
• Deathmatch - See below
• Randomization - When both players select this, 10 units are randomly placed on the each side of the field from the default unit availability (no drops are used). Ranked Battle automatically switches off.
• Friendly Fire - Ally damage does not occur.this I dont like (I dont think it would be good addition to game tactics)
• Turn Expiration - Allows you to change the amount of time you’re allowed for each turn. If the amount is rejected, it returns to the default and cannot be changed.
• Hopeless Victory - If a player’s only remaining units are of one or more of: Cleric, Furgon, Poison Whisp, Stone Golem, Barrier Ward, the player is defeated. If they have ANY other unit type remaining the match continues. This option is turned on by default.this is fine even if it doesnt include LW[COLOR]
• Opponent Speech - Makes only clan speech available in battle. [COLOR="Red"]removes chat with noobs :p
• Grey Battle - Sets a gold’s “Setup 4” to active. This just proves that gold units will not be used by that player.
• Forfeit - Skips battle and automatically sorts rating. Explain why?

Where are not any of mine comments I agree, so thats majority.

this is fine even if it doesnt include LW
Say your opponent has a knight with 23 HP remaining and gets within range of your lightning ward to kill your scout with 20 hp left. You still have the LW and a cleric left. If the ward was included in the "hopeless" units, you would lose before you got to kill his knight.

LW's will not be an end game unit. You won't ever have to kill it to win a game.(not that it isn't a good unit but like in the You Win!! situation) So I could take out your Witch, Pyro and then I can force a draw or win. If the Knight is in range of the LW tough luck.

• Hopeless Victory - If a player’s only remaining units are of one or more of: Cleric, Furgon, Poison Whisp, Stone Golem, Barrier Ward, the player is defeated. If they have ANY other unit type remaining the match continues. This option is turned on by default.

whew, i don't agree with the "one or more" part of this whatsoever. Say it's a Wisp and a Furg vs. a knight. With the furg, they could shrub all around the wisped knight, and it could not move. Granted, they could never attack, but in that situation, I'd say the one with the knight was most likely outplayed anyway.

Good point. Should I remove poison whisp?

Most of these are pretty dumb

• Ranked Battle - If both players chose this, the match will not affect rating. The winner will still receive a drop upon victory, however.

It's called a clan. We already have this option

• Blocking Correction - Blocking and hitting bonuses based on unit blocking behavior is removed.

For what purpose? I can't imagine many people wanting this option.... sure, you could say "well, more options is always good", but not really. It would take work and time and effort to make this option, and people would use it as an excuse to not play games. Overall, it would possibly make the game worse

Setup - Allows player to choose a setup. Three other setup variables can be stored in the personal setup menu, and then set active in the Battle Preparations. This option is available to golds only.

A good idea, and suggested before. I don't think it's that necessary though....

• Ranged Stalling - Toggles hold on ranged units during the first turn.

Same thing as the blocking correction

Deathmatch - See below

I don't quite understand what the point of this would be...

• Randomization - When both players select this, 10 units are randomly placed on the each side of the field from the default unit availability (no drops are used). Ranked Battle automatically switches off.

You can just do this for fun anyway essentially... it seems like a feature nobody would use for the most part anyway.

• Friendly Fire - Ally damage does not occur.

Another option nobody would use... friendly fire forces strategic thinking with pyromancers and DMWs.

• Turn Expiration - Allows you to change the amount of time you’re allowed for each turn. If the amount is rejected, it returns to the default and cannot be changed.

Yet another useless option... the time alloted now is quite good. Maybe a couple of friendly turtle games would use this, but it wouldn't do much

• Hopeless Victory - If a player’s only remaining units are of one or more of: Cleric, Furgon, Poison Whisp, Stone Golem, Barrier Ward, the player is defeated. If they have ANY other unit type remaining the match continues. This option is turned on by default.

For exampe, a dragon vs. a furgon is an automatic draw. Not under your option. Bad idea

• Opponent Speech - Makes only clan speech available in battle.

Another idea that doesn't make much sense.... what's the worst that can happen, your opponent spams? How much does that really bother you?

• Grey Battle - Sets a gold’s “Setup 4” to active. This just proves that gold units will not be used by that player.

Good concept... some way of indicating a gold is using a grey setup.

• Forfeit - Skips battle and automatically sorts rating.

You can already surrender in the game....

This seems to be a compilation of previously suggested ideas.

Ranked Battle - promotes stat camping
Blocking Correction - bad idea. People complain about luck enough already
Setups - good idea, suggested previously
Ranged Stalling - only rushers would use this.. ... and then... why?
Deathmatch - I don't understand why this is a deathmatch - just seems like a rule change
Randomization - good idea for some silliness I suppose
Friendly Fire - bad idea. Alternate idea is quit hittin urself
Turn Expiration - been suggested before
Hopeless Victory - been suggested before. it's a good idea that needs to be revamped to take all draw possibilities into account
Opponent Speech - it's called ignoring them
Grey Battle - same as setup
Forfeit = boosting + bad idea

TAO is already perfect as it is, but it could do with new units sometime. This thread was just for fun and feedback, I don't really want this in the game at all. I won't argue with any of you that none of these are any good.

-Edit-
I do think that we should incorporate proof that gold's aren't using gold units during battles.

Well thought. I say my favorite Idea is the Deathmatch idea. That'd be fun.

I like these idea because they all have some sort of thought put into them. I just think that it would spice up the game a bit and it would be fun to try something new. I also think a good idea would be if Seed was here, then maybe he could make a new server and test all the suggestions out on it and use it on the others. It would be a Guinea Pig server.

There probably are, they just may not be public servers.
