Description : Things seems to be going all Flash's way. He got first turn, he blocked my scout attack with his Dragon (side attack) on my second turn, and got a scout side block from my knight. Then he made an incredibly (sorry Flash) stupid move. He wisped my mud, but in doing so he got his own cleric! I did some heavy damage before finishing the cleric with my scout, but in doing so I lost my mud golem and Dragon. In return though I took his scout, beast, froze his mud, and killed the wisp. It was then my BR and frost vs his knight (I still had mud golem frozen and my knight was frozen) I stoned my frost and beast and weakened his mud golem down to 2 HP. He could either then retreat with mud and let me freeze knight, or attack with mud and I'd freeze knight anyway. This was probably the fastest match I've ever played. Can't say it took more than 10 minutes.

Bottle and I played probably the most excellent game I've ever had.

Comments: This was one of the most intense turtle games I've ever had, one of the longest, and also one of the very best for quality of play on both sides.

We started opp sides, he stoned dragon mud and scouts, I stoned scouts mud and wisp. Important note: we both had furgons, I had 2 knights but no dragon and he had 1 knight. Early in the game I don't remember much of what happened, because it was nearly 2 hours ago, but I made my only real mistake of the game: when he sent in his injured mud to quake me, I sent my scouts back to restone before my mud. The result was that my mud died, along with his, and I braced myself for a long match.

I spent a long time after this on the defensive. For large sections of this part of the game, I had no stone focus, making his dragon extremely dangerous to my scouts. I gave my wisp's life away to reduce his dragon to 36, preventing it from being able to attack effectively, and also killed his frost which he unwisely advanced while both scouts were reasonably free to move around. I lost a knight in the ensuing attempt to restone my scouts and defend myself, and spent well over half an hour blocking LOS from his 2 annoying scouts while vainly attempting to armor the scouts I wanted armored without losing ground too much. Blud did extremely well at preventing me doing this, with his armored scouts and dragon, plus his unarmored knight, slowly breaking down my shrub wall a shrub at a time. Finally, we got to the stage where he had reduced my frosty to 36HP (he had been targetting it for quite some time) and I had managed to armor both scouts with no danger of the stone focus being broken (I had to move the stone 4 times to do it, though... hence it taking half an hour). I knew my days were numbered on the defense with no teleporters and a thick shrub wall between us, so I sent out a scout on a charge for the cleric and stone, breaking through a gap in the shrubs that he had created himself to get at my frost. He was obviously concerned, and sent his dragon behind my shrubs to threaten my cleric. I shrubbed up as much LOS as I could, knowing his double scouts would make a hole to hit the frost, but I was hoping the frost would survive long enough to kill the dragon with my nearby scout and knight. Then, from a strong (and potentially match-wnning) position blud made his one and only mistake of the game: he misjudged his LOS and shot the wrong shrub. He intended to open up a LOS shot on my frost that was about to freeze his dragon, but missed, and I very quickly closed all chance of him getting the frost before his dragon died. His mistake wasn't a misclick, the battle had obviously tired him (because I offered the chance to take it back if it was a misclick). My advanced scout hit his stone and stayed threatening to his cleric, and he had no choice but to accept the exchange of my advanced scout for his dragon. At this stage I had the option to use the enraged furgon attack, but actually forgot about it. I would have won sooner if I had used it. >.<

From this point on, I was in control. He had to send back his scouts to restone, because my frost and knight were looking threatening. We spent a jolly 15 minutes exchanging furgoning and ended up with half the field covered in shrubs. I armored my knight and remaining scout up far quicker, though, and this proved vital. I sent them in to the heart of his defense and forced him now to run around defending his unstoned units. He did an admirable job of it and I was forced to pull off the attack slightly.

My frost was still hemmed in by my own defensive shrubbery, but I quickly changed that with one nice shot and advanced it up, knowing that it wouldn't need armor with all those shrubs around. He tried to break out, knowing what was coming, but I had my furgon deep in his territory too and there was no way out. All the shrubs in the screenshot are actually mine, except for the ones in the clump at the bottom protecting his cleric from my scout, which should give you an idea how aggressive my furgon was. I finally got to freeze his furgon, and reduced it to 14 in the screenshot. He knew that the frost would pick him off one at a time in conjunction with the scout LOS and the furgon, and surrendered.

It was a truly superb game with great play from both players, excluding 2 small mistakes, and it made me really glad I asked Omega to join the team. These are the battles I wanted and blud was delighted to supply one. And in truth, I think that overall he was the better player... his mistake was just more important than mine in the context of the game.

It hardly seems fair to finish this review without mentioning the INSANE blocking. Both furgons were blocking machines, blocking pretty much every available side shot they could. He hit my scout from the front early in the game after I killed his frost which caused my retreat, but then it redeemed itself by blocking 2 shots at less than 50% to block to save its life. His dragon blocked everything I threw at it (not that I threw many blockable attacks at it) and my knights couldn't decide what to do; one blocked nothing and the other blocked almost everything. On the whole, blocking was in my favour and it would have been a very different (and much shorter) game if either of the two scout blocks had missed.

So hats off to blud, I hope we have as much fun in the Legends game.

Summary: It was a game of luck. the first 4 turns at least every one of both of our units blocked. I made a ton of mistakes as he did as well. I have up my beast rider and wisp basically for nothing. He had the chance to take my scout for a exchange for his dragon, but i guess he decided not to. at the end, i killed his cleric and he went on attack. while he was attacking i was picking at his scout knight and finally killed his dragon.

Man, I feel like a noob for using this quote, especially now that the rep system is so flawed. But god damn, he did that game justice.

I agree Bottle, the game could have unwound differently had the luck played out slightly differently. I don't think the luck effected that much, I was just throwing it out there in a joking way, since I usually get a landslide luck in my favor against you. It could have changed if I had hit the right shrub as well, but theres no telling who would have won anyway. What is done is done. It was an excellent match, and I don't regret any second of it.

Comments:Description: ZAD got first turn, and played it very well - threatening my stone and scout early on. We exchanged scouts after about 6turns, while I advanced my unstoned br and mud, with drag and knight in reserve. Before this, ZAD froze my mud, damaging it heavily. Here was where the first major mistake in the game was made: I was able to wisp his dragon, mud and knight (with my frozen, nearly dead mud) with my knight and dragon stopping his frost, while his knight and dragon nulled the threat of his wisp. A nifty cleric kill let me kill his frost with ease, and while damaging ZAD's wisp, I endangered my BR. From here it was a case of falling back in to use my frost. I didn't destone him all game, either.

Comments:Well, it started out, I went on the offensive, killed his mud, then he destoned my with his scout, I pulled back to restone, put a bunch of damage on his one scout, then he attacked my cleric. I cut off LOS to my cleric, meanwhile taking his scout down to 10 damage. I then took a side shot on his +25(about) scout, killing it with my muddy. This allowed him to get my cleric, and my dragon died sometime around now, I forget when. Then I wisped his scout he used to kill my cleric, he couldn't defocus it, he wisped (I deswipsed) and then froze my muddy, I got his scout down to 2 health, he retreated with it, I defocused his frost, which allowed me to kill his scout. Then I got my frost into the corner, froze his wisp. MY frost had only 16 health at this point, so it wasn't completely over. I then killed his frost, and he got my muddy down to 2 health, I retreated my muddy, and slowly peppered away at his dragon. His dragon didn't block very well, but it didn't matter to much because it was over at that point. He might have been able to get a couple more units if his dragon blocked better.

I don't expect team FPS to win, I really dont (Sorry guys, but its true and we all know it) and I didn't even expect myself to beat Pun, but I was planning on giving him hell on the way down. I know the FPS team guys are gonna be pissed at me for giving away 2 wins, but seriously, I'm not going to play Pun and that's final. I knew you would feel this way, and thats why I apologised. But there's no point in playing because if I win, he's gonna go around and tell everyone I cheated by getting someone else to play for me. The same type of sh*t some legenders tried to do with Deep. I'm trying to avoid that right now as I dont want to be d/q'd and let the team down even more by losing all my games. Mag handed my ass to me in our FPS game, he got first turn and I just couldn't get my scouts out of first gear. First turn basically gave him the game seeing as he knew exactly how to use it. I got the mud early but my furgon just couldn't cover up in time... given 1 extra turn my frost would have gone to work on those scouts. A dragon side block at 20% to block also really didn't help matters. (Everything went his way... opp side, first turn, and every blockable attack, although there were only 4 of them.) The screenie looks horrible, because the game was horrible, but his scout next to my knight blocked to save its life and the dragon was on 14 HP half way through the game. After my amazing game with blud, that was just... depressing. What's most depressing is that I couldn't have made a single better move all game.

Comments: Firstly, I'd like to say that the final screenshot does not in any way represent the quality of game-play in the match. It was a tight game - a couple of blocks went my way (namely a dragon side, then a scout frontal blocked before Bottle surrendered) allowing a slightly easier passage to victory.

I started with first turn, and proceeded to move my scout into a more threatening position. Bottle decided that my dragon was a tasty first target, and I shot his scout in the side with my 2nd scout. We both brought our muddies into a more threatening position, advancing them their distance. I took a shot at his wisp, then destoned with mudquake while my mud was taken down to 34hp. He killed my mud quickly, for his wisp, and I then brought my dragon into the fray, on the flank and to threaten his cleric. Bottle used Lucy; shrubbing his cleric and frost into position. My best option here was to attempt to kill his mud, which I eventually did. Meanwhile Lucy stole the show - holding my malevolent scouts at bay. At least for the time being.

His scouts straying too close to my frost and wisp gave me the perfect opportunity to use his shrubs against him - frost and wisp are a perfect combination, and Bottle soon felt their wrath. My dragon and scout were severely wounded in the process, but killing his first scout, freezing the 2nd and wisping his furg into place all led to a very rewarding and satisfying win.

In the final s/s, my scout is on 10hp after blocking a frontal, wisp full and dragon is on 38. His frozen knight is on 14, and everything else was full, or thereabouts.

Great game, Bottle. I hope our Legends game is just as thrilling - regardless of the result. :)

Thrilling? Pssh. I've seen more thrilling games of tiddlywinks. You played really well, but the whole match was so damned predictable and I could even do anything about it.

Anyway, I then went into a game with Punishment to compare formations, and we played out the first few turns. After each stoning (he got first turn) I took a side shot at his dragon, which blocked. Then he hit my scout from the front. Admittedly, my scout then did block the next attack (it had 99% to block) so I obviously felt I was getting too lucky and surrendered.

I finally find an opponent and everything is going fine except for the small fact that I d/c an hour and a half into the game.

I guess he forgot to screenie and I screenied (because I knew I was timing out) but when I copied my "short" conversation with IROK I forgot I'd lose my screenie.

No screenie, but it was scout + knight + cleric + frosty + furgon + stoney vs + 20 health frozen dragon + scout + knight + frosty + cleric + stoney, me being the first.

Most of my base was shrubbed (I didn't destone him all game, so only his scout was stoned) and I think I could block of his frosty from coming near with my furgon. I hoped I could kill his dragon without losing anything (he just killed my 2nd scout), and both of his units were in my frosty range by then.

But none of my units were stoned and he was in my base. There wasn't a big enough edge for either players to give one player the win.

We'll play again because we don't have a screenie.

Ugh.

He brought his mud into play the turn before I drag burned, and subsequently I froze his mud to bring his damaged scout into play. I can't remember much of what happened as I had a problem saving the final s/s altogether. :(

Comments: Firstly, I'd like to say that the final screenshot does not in any way represent the quality of game-play in the match. It was a tight game - a couple of blocks went my way (namely a dragon side, then a scout frontal blocked before Bottle surrendered) allowing a slightly easier passage to victory.

I started with first turn, and proceeded to move my scout into a more threatening position. Bottle decided that my dragon was a tasty first target, and I shot his scout in the side with my 2nd scout. We both brought our muddies into a more threatening position, advancing them their distance. I took a shot at his wisp, then destoned with mudquake while my mud was taken down to 34hp. He killed my mud quickly, for his wisp, and I then brought my dragon into the fray, on the flank and to threaten his cleric. Bottle used Lucy; shrubbing his cleric and frost into position. My best option here was to attempt to kill his mud, which I eventually did. Meanwhile Lucy stole the show - holding my malevolent scouts at bay. At least for the time being.

His scouts straying too close to my frost and wisp gave me the perfect opportunity to use his shrubs against him - frost and wisp are a perfect combination, and Bottle soon felt their wrath. My dragon and scout were severely wounded in the process, but killing his first scout, freezing the 2nd and wisping his furg into place all led to a very rewarding and satisfying win.

In the final s/s, my scout is on 10hp after blocking a frontal, wisp full and dragon is on 38. His frozen knight is on 14, and everything else was full, or thereabouts.

You're just going through a phase. In this phase, you're a good player, but don't feel like you're recognized as good as you are. For a little bit, you struggle with this, and might screw up in a few tourneys, like this one. But don't worry about it, beating yourself up about it solves nothing, and blaming it on luck (whether it was luck or not) solves nothing.

This isn't a specific case to you (though I've been using the pronoun you throughout the whole paragraph), because I went through this phase as well, and I know very well how it is. I'm empathetic to this, but the only thing I can really tell you is that it doesn't last forever, and that the more you mire yourself in it, the worse you feel it is.

ok a few news here. from tomorrow on i can play games again i might disconnect because chinese ppl are the laziest bunch of bums i have ever seen and dont even try to get my internet line fixed.
i didnt show up for the last 2 days because my computer got ultimately owned by some viruses i suppose. dunno what exactly happened but all my messengers were still working i could even make phone call with my computer but firefox and internet explorer would display any pages. so i had to reformat that bitch here and got everything running again after 5 hours :(.
irok i would prefere loosing to luck than to a questionable knowledge like mine. i have no clue what is wrong with me but no matter what kind of games i play lately i do the crappiest move combos possible. during the game i still think its fine what i do as soon as it tells me u have surrendered or u lost i realize what kind of bullshit i am doing. i am letting my team down because my concentration is worse than ever and that is entirely my fault. luck isnt ur fault.

We each shot each others' clerics with scout and I then unstoned him while he wisped me. I moved my dragon wisped his scout/mud next turn because it allowed me to do so without chance of unwisping. He took my dragon and I moved my mud into position to kill cleric and deal damage to stone, beast, dragon, and frost. I got his wisp down to 4 with my own wisp/scout combo and he wisped his BR, along with my scout and mud. I retreated my mud and had my knight come for support. He moved his BR down to unstone me and I took a chance hitting it from the front with my BR (missed). I froze/killed it and then froze his oncoming dragon while he froze my knight. I attacked his dragon once and then began the attack on his frost. In the final s/s his dragon was at 28 HP, knight was full and stoned and his frost had 9 HP and would die next turn. My knight had 11 HP after being attacked by his knight and the rest of my units were full HP and stoned. Had the match continued he would have been forced to use his stoned knight and hope to get a side hit on my knight. In any case I would have won. Good game s][nful. I look forward to our FPS match.

There are many members on our team that are solid players. I think I am fairly solid, and my record would show that. (+8 points over FPS for me so far :))

He's perfectly in his right to think Legends is winning, though. They've been ahead pretty much all tournament. No need to attack him about it, just show him that we're a long way from defeat in-game.

You may be right, however, I feel that on any given day I have the ability to defeat anyone on your team, but as you already know, I can also lose to anyone as well (no secret there).

Dim, I don't judge him based on his impressive battle reports. Quite frankly, I've never even looked at half of them. What I do judge him on is the fact that I have yet to beat him in a turtle game, and we've played more than a few times. Also, he plays on a lot of the 1800+ accounts when he is getting stats (storm of vengeance, final justice, etc)

Also, I'm not just trying to get compliments. I really do think that I am not one of the stronger people on legends team. I've not beaten either omega, ragnarth, and the others are about a 50/50 most of the time. Perhaps I am better in FPS when i have good games, but that's expected since i play here often.
