Knight - Offense for the Win!
Assassin - Midfield for the Backup!
Furgon - Good Defense is the Best Offense!
Scouts - Outside Wings with Speed and Range are Deadly!
Frost Golem - Goal Keeper; "Thou Shalt not Score!"
Barrier Wards (May be Replaced by Other Doubled Units) - Goal Posts; "Tra la la la la!"

How To Play

The Object
Simple Really, Score 3 Goals by Killing the 3 Shrubs in Your Opponent's Goal.

The Laws of the Game
On The First Turn, Each Player Must Create Their Goals. (Attack with Furgon, he can't be moved on that turn though.)
You May Not Attack Goal Posts.
Once A Goal Is Destroyed, You May Not Create Another Shrub In It's Place, But You May Move Into The Goal.
Offensives
Disconnecting Will Automatically Result In A Yellow Card And You Will Lose The Match.
For Each Player You Have Out Of Position You Will Get A Yellow Card For; But You Can Still Win The Match. *Position Talked About Below*
If You Break Any Of *The Laws of the Game - Listed Above* You Will Recieve A Red Card.

Knight - May Move Freely Anywhere In Front Of Their Starting Line, Cannot Go Behind It.
Assassin - May Not Go On The Edges Of The Board. You CAN USE the Assassin Bomb.
Furgon - May Go On, Not Pass, The Middle Row.
Scouts - No Limits.
Frost Golem - May Not Go Past, But Can Go On, the 5x5 Square Set By The Goal Posts & Knights.
Barrier Wards (May be Replaced by Other Doubled Units) - May Not Move Or Attack.

Teams: 8-16 Teams
Players: 2 Players Per Team
Each Team Can Pick A Country To Represent.
Now Let Me Define Country: A Group of States or Providences.
Good Examples: United States, France, Australia... etc.
Bad Examples: Antarctica, Atlantis, The Pacific Ocean... etc. :p

Times
Preliminary Rounds: Depending on the Amount of Players, 1-3 Weeks.
Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final Rounds: 1 Week or Less.

Card Restrictions
Throughout the Tournament, You May Recieve 1 Yellow Card, If You Recieve 2, You Will Be DQ'd.
At the Distribution of a Red Card, You Will Be DQ'd.

A few problems...

If I don't move my knights forward, they can do some damage to the incoming team and then my scouts and assassin can finish the job with some furgon / frosty help. With no way to heal, playing defense, especially with these units, is the best way to win.

It's a decent idea, but it seems that you didn't read the "no more tourneys" thread and that you didn't really think through potential gameplay problems. Props for creativity, though.

The goal is to kill all 3 shrubs, not kill the goal post. And from what I read, you aren't even suppose to use the goal post (bw is used but anything can be used as a substitute). I think the rule is only there so if someone uses 2 pyros as goal posts, you can't kill the pyros so that it's easier to kill the shrubs.

I don't see why we need the rule of knights cannot move backwards. If you want to prevent knights from blocking all entry way to shrubs, just make it so they can't go back past their starting position.

Fry, I'm going to change the Scout's rule so that you are aloud to cross over the center column, they will be free to move around the field.

Fry & Solingro, I found the grammar flaw in the Knight's rule too.

Zander, you missed the part where Goal Posts cannot Attack, Move, or Be Attacked.

Er...apparently, I need to :rtfm: I've only recently come back to the forums (past month or so), so when that thread appeared, it was obviously bumped by someone. Naturally, I didn't take your advice and actually check the blasted post date - I just assumed it was new.

Now that's what I call attention to detail! Go me. Thanks for setting me straight, skev. :smartass:

Another idea for gameplay - what about using a cleric as one of the goalposts? Each player gets 2 (or however many) "time outs" during the game. The time out forces the opposing player to pass their next turn and the time-out-caller uses the following turn to heal. After the heal, it's opponent's turn again, so the time-out-caller hasn't gained a positional advantage. There are certainly a few problems with this idea (e.g. it could screw up wait times). But if those could be ironed out, things could be pretty interesting.

And in response to the wait-time argument, well, a time-out is usually called to get you out of a bad situation anyway. So it's sort of intuitive.

-edit - before anyone points it out, I'm well aware that there aren't any time outs in a real soccer game.

Yes you can move and use the Furgy , but you can't create a shrub in the goal after the first turn.

Limiting violations to two only makes it so if you intentionally violate it you run the risk of being DQ next time you unintentionally violate the law again (via misclick or brain freeze).

Yes. The only restriction to shrubbing is that the Furgon cannot go past the center row.

A note about the goal posts, it's probably best if you use two wards because if you walk your scout into the back corner, and someone boxes it in with a knight or something, you may forget you're not really supposed to be able to walk through goal posts. ;)

Um... seriously? I've played 7 games, and have used the assassin bomb as a threat every time. I figure there's too much clogging to use it offensively (2 furgons with no mud), but can be used as a defensive threat or just to give your opponent one other thing to worry about.

As you can tell, I, for one, am completely against this addendum. I believe it gives too much to the people who get first turn, as they can simply start sniping the assassin without any reservations.
