Well, I proved a point. I kick mega-ass. I almost one, if his stupid witch hadn't blocked at the beginning... and I almost had him anyway, arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggg. Stupid stupid move

Stiv played very well, I was on the peak of my game until one slip-up at the end.

Allright, here is how the shit when down in my game with Stiv(Credit to stiv, he played very, very well).

So, first he charges up with 2 knights, I slowly were when down, he pulls them back a bit, so if I move my 2 knights which I used to block the path to my chanty/cleric, he could attack the opening. Then with my last knight and scout I attacked, scout providing protection from chanty, so knight was only used. I attacked his chanty, he retreated chanty, I attacked witch, he attacked back with witch. He healed sometime around now, I forget exactly what happed. Then he froze witch/bw/cleric/knight where I could break focus only by moving my scout into LW range. I do so, he lw's scout, I bw, he break focus with a knight at 22, in LW range. I think about it for a while, heal. He heals, I attack witch for the kill, it was 70%, he blocked(important for later). He moves his witch back, I attack his knight that had defocused bw from behind, he pulls knight back to where it was, and I had pulled scout back to safety along with 3rd kngiht.

Then he charged up assasin, I had bw'ed scout. I then took a side shot on his assasin, it hit, and I retreated scout to corner where it could only be hit by frontals. Scout had 28 I beleive. Then I lw assasin to 5 health, he runs away with assasin to only place I can't get a side shot on it. I then charge my knight over there, he goes where I can get a side shot with my scout, I kill his assasin. Then he charges up knight over there, I heal. He attacks scout from side, I retreat back to where scout was before, we puts knight where he can easily defocus bw. It is 9-8 at this point, I get invited to Omnipotent, tell them about what is going on. Then I retreat 3rd knight back to where my other 2 knights are, still being threatened by his other 2 knights.

Now, this is where I wish I had killed his dsm earlier. He slowly brings it up, all the way around. To where he can move to kill cleric and hit chanty. I block this off the space where he can do this with a knight. Meanwhile I had damaged one of his 2 knights down to low damgage, I forget exactly what. He retreats that knight, I am using all 3 of my knights to try and get to his witch which is hidden behind one of his knights. I'm about to start attacking his witch, when he brings his scout down and attacks my chanty. Its outside of LW range, and I thought I was screwed. I couldn't use bw because of his 3rd knight, so I healed. I attacked his scout, still trying to figure out what to do. He bw's his scout, he had really agressive bw position. I can't defocus cuz my scout is pinned down, preventing his knight from getting to my cleric/chanty. He attacks again with scout, bringing it to 11, I move knight where he can block witch burn to chanty, killing chanty and giving him the game. I do this and bring his 1 damaged knight down to 8. He retreats that knight, or something I forget exactly what.

Basicly, what happend at this point, his one knight was retreated, his scout was covered by witch, and his knights were taking up space. He moves his 3rd knight away from the corner, his scout had 27 health at this point. I decide, my chanties about to die, might as make him pay. So I go up, freezing his scout, his knight, my bw, my lw. He can kill my chanty(13) at this point, but I would get his scout, because witch would go through his scout, and I could kill it easy. So instead he bring a knight over to try and help out, I hit scout with my scout, blocking his knights path, and bring scout down to 10. He does someting, I forget what, I put knight blocking witch from defocusing and hitting it, he witches my scout, killing it and bringing bw down to 8. I then use my one knights to kill his weakened knight, it hits on a sidal. I then freeze his knight, one of my knights, his other knight, and his scout. He heals, saving scout, I kill witch. He bw's scout, at 15(note, this doesn't match up to other facts, but I know this one for a fact, I wasn't sure all the other times).

He had been pulling chanty up while I had been finishing dudes off. My knights were out of position, and he gets it where he is threatening to freeze, I had healed up during this time, bringing chanty to 23. I then move chanty, freezing his knight, my knight, and his scout. This left his one knight left, he brought it over to unfreeze, I used bw on chanty, he kills bw. Somewhere about now, he freezes my lw and a knight with his chanty. So we each have a free knight. Unfortunatly, my knight is on the outside, and can't get in to attack. He attacks my cleric, I retreat to where I can freeze his knight again if he attacks cleric. He retreats his dude to attack my frozen lw. He froze my other knight somehwo, I forget exactly. Then I made my one and only mistake, if moved my cleric toward my chanty one, it would have blocked off his knights path, allowing me to free my frozen knight. I forgot to do this, and he unfroze chanty, then killed it. After that, it was over...



SOOOO CLOSE!!!


To my teamates, its okay. If I wanted to win it all, I would have joined a different team. I just wanted to have fun, and I did. Good luck 300.

Um, I just had a game with my friend bottle. Not sure what to say, it was a great game. I got some crappy blocks at the beginning, then I one critical knight hit in the middle of the game. When I was about to finish his scout off, it side blocked when I had 87%, then he charged his chanty unproteced, and I finished her off. And eventually took care of his scout. He was gona kill my scout ( it was at 1HP ), but I managed to save him by moving my knight up and blocking the path of his witch. Below was the game s/s. It was an overall ok match, Bottle would have had a better chance at winning if he had 10 units. I played like garbage in the beginning and didn't think strategiclly, he was just charging in. After I put a little thought in and started to think, I took out 2 of his knights for one of my knight and a witch. My assasin didn't do much, she got diced up in 2 consequtive hits from the side. When she died, she shot up to +120 something, but it didn't matter because she was vaporized. Great game bottle, hope to play you some other day with full units.

Well it was irrelevant, but he won in the end by what, 6 units? Despite his cleric being on 6, scout on 1, chanty on 17 and knights on 21 and 13 at various points in the game (damned slackers, running off all the time). The game was quite fun, .Z complained about luck at the start (his assassin missed 2 attacks in a row and his knight missed 2 side blocks in between blocking one) until he got witch blocks, scout blocks and everything else in the endgame. :D

Apparently Celestial Knights didn't take their own advice and stay humble. If you think Teh Gray/Draq/Indulgence is the only team capable of beating you, you'd better think twice. Almost any team in this tourney has the ability to beat any other team. Aside from RTT (which turned out not to be true considering the unfortunate events), I thought my team drew one of the toughest pairings in Allstar/Puni/Mag.

You've got games like TAO Panama (TACT, Junier, and Dard, who are some of SI's finest) vs Children of Bodom (Slayer, Powza, and Geoffrey). I wouldn't want to face either of those teams. Imag's team is awfully talented (not to count out Irok yet). Solingro is one of the best grays in this tourney, and with Hzarz and Ninai, that team can go a long way. Mith and Hool on the same team? Are you kidding me, you really think the rest of the tourney is going to be a cakewalk? You can't count Bax's team out yet, Du's got to take out 14 to win, not a stretch at all.

This tourney is far from over, despite your relative slaying of the dragon in Round 1 (albeit a lot of it wasn't your doing). I just think that after all the shit you gave RTT for being confident, you could show a little maturity. There are so many good players in this thing, and that's not to say the one's I'm not familiar with aren't sick too.

This was a very interesting game that was much closer than it looked. We started out same sides, and he had a 2 pyro setup behind the first and second square from the wall. I just focused on taking them out, and after doing so advanced my witch to threaten his cleric, forcing his units to stay in one spot without having much mobility. After that, I went after his scout/chanty which were back there, and after much work, and a pyro block (was 60% to block because it was hit hte turn before) was able to kill it. Prior to killing his chanty, I used my witch to Defocus his BW and kill his Cleric.

I'm DQing Ol' Time (Cliche and I agreed that clearly Woody deserves to advance). Because it was his own stupid inactivity, even though obviously he's active on these forums, I'll have him DQed and lost.boy can still sub if he's needed.

I'm not going to make a new thread, that would not be necessary I think (especially because almost all game 2's are done by now as well). This thread should last until the end of round 1.

For the record, that's the first official DQ of the tournament, right on schedule. Thanks to everyone else for playing so many games and not forcing painful DQs early on. All game 2's must be completed within the next week!

Regarding the DQ, most of these rounds will last 7 days. The first round had 10 days. The first 8 of those 10 days were all wasted by your captain. Now, I'm terribly sorry that you weren't able to get your game played in those last two days but there is no freaking way I can DQ Woody too. That would be grossly unfair. Read the first post of this thread. There is absolutely no excuse for a player, much less a captain, to go 8 days and not PM his opponent, not post in this thread EVEN after just to be nice, I PMed him myself to remind him he needed to get his act together. I know it sucks for you Lost.boy, but the single disqualification is just.

Blame your stupid inactive captain and be pissed at him for screwing you and your teammates. I did what I had to do.

If you have both made an equal effort to play and you don't get your game in on time, you will both be DQed. In theory, if you both are really trying, you should be able to get your game in within one week.

I surrendered to imagination because my luck was bad and I played horrid. Even if I beat him there I would not have have the manpower to defeat rainblade.

EDIT: I didn't expect the centered form and was surprised. He came in with his knights and took out my chanty and scout, with my cleric dying next turn. I was too confident in my own abilities and didn't practice enough. Had I expected the form style he chose I would have been more prepared and put up a better fight. His luck really didn't help either :p

basically my goal was to take out his vital units so that even if i lost my next eam mate could win. I believe i could have won at this point in the game as well. I did get a scout block but even if it hit i wasnt going to rely on it at this point in the match as i had taken out my main objectives (scout, cleric, chanty) for my teammate. gg none the less. I got lucky in the fact that i basically planned on him turtling me so i made a counter form.

Some of us have more real life commitments than others, you know. I think a week is fair enough time to get a game in, especially if like me, you can only mostly play on weekends because of the 12 hour time zone difference to all the nubs living in the US. So go do your homework, read a book or go sign up for another 10 tourneys while us working folk get our games in, according to the these tournament rules.

Normally one would turn to the rules of the tourney to answer this question ...
The second solution is that, as this tournament will run for a few months, in between rounds, a team captain can permanently replace one of the players on his team (himself included) with someone else willing to play. This may only happen once in the tournament, and the exchange will be final.

In the ending screeny, his witch is at 6 after a knight hit, and had to wait 1 turn. My witch was ready to blast next turn. I think you've got the wrong idea about the proposed "loser's bracket". It would be a separate bracket, kind of like a consolation prize, but they wouldn't still compete for the grand prize. That's the way I understood it.

Anyway yes my time is gmt+1, and your time is gmt-8, i just checked, so our timezone is 9 hours different. 8-11pm PST = 5am(other day) - 8am(other day) GMT+1 time. That would be hard to match :/ any date you want to play me? throughout the workdays i can be on from 18 - 1am(other day), so thats around 9am - 16h. I think this is the best match to play on a saturday?

It was a very good game, i diddn't want to gave a unit away, so i took some risky moves somethimes. And because he diddnt had a cleric, it was hard for him.

So the result is, that i diddn't lost a unit.

im'a ... our team captain left us out of the blue so i went searching for a replacement. First thing i did was pm mith to see if i could use someone already eliminated from the tourney. When he said no i went searching the lobby for some greys I knew were good and dabooz happened to log on and i nearly fell out of my chair. I picked up dabooz but was stuck with the order our previous team captain decided on. I then PM'ed mith again with the team order i thought the team should have (and if i might add i didnt even look at your teams order before i did this). If you want we can keep the same order as i dont believe it will make that huge of a difference, i would just prefer a new order since i was made captain out of the blue.

Heh, I used to be good. That's the funny thing with repuation, in my grey prime I was really good but I was unproven. Then I beat a lot of people, got some hype, and quit for several months at a time and played mainly gold, and lo and behold I became rusty and lost my edge at grey. As I'm sure you know grey is all about timing when 2 very good players play each other so you need to be sharp. If you are rusty you can't really beat an in practiced very good player. I'm sure that if you are very good and very in practice you could beat me currently.

We have to play from the position I was against Phil in a screenshot in the thread, I can find a link to the post for you if you can't find it. It will take a few minutes to set up all the healths but shouldn't be too long.

What timezone are you, I'm GMT.

I can play this evening until 11pm and tomorrow evening from 5pm until 11pm although my plans for tomorrow might change quickly. Friday and Saturday this week are not an option as I'm completely busy, but I will be available from 1030am until 3pm on Sunday.

Next week Monday isn't an option as I'm just too tired after i get home. Tuesday from 5pm until 11pm. Wednesday from 430pm until 11pm. Thursday from 5pm until 11pm. Then Friday and Saturday are both unavailable again. The best way to get this sorted is to arrange a time as I often have late changes to my plans.

Is any of this good for you? I do tend to see you on quite often so this shouldn't be too bad. Let me know what you think.

I envision a tourney shitlist ... with the names of players who don't fulfill their tourney obligations on it. Would discourage tourney organizers from including those players, and help to keep players honest.

This tourney is designed so that inactivity is not a problem, but not participating sucks the fun out of the thing. If you sign up for a tourney, you should be willing to play your games when needed, out of fairness to your teammates and the rest of the participants. If teams advance because of dqs, it's unfair to those teams that had to win their way in.
