I have some bad news. Something in my life has come up, which is unfortunately unavoidable. Due to this event, I doubt that I would be able to fulfill my duties as tournament co-director. So, needless to say, I will be stepping down and forfeitting my position. The matter in which has forced this resignation is extremely personal and I do not wish to share it with anyone that is not near and dear to me, so please don't ask.

I've enjoyed working beside Mithrandir and keeping this tournament in order, as well as participating (even though my team was knocked out first round). I would like to thank everyone who has made this very enjoyable tournament possible.

I will still be active on both the servers and the forums, so if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Also, I will most likely be returning full-time in three to four weeks, but that's just an estimate, it could be longer.

Once again, thanks to all of you that made this possible, and I look forward to working with you all again.

Your cleric was certainly either saveable or if he had sent his scout to get it, you could have potentially killed his scout. You can do a lot of damage with two knights. Gotta at least try in a tourney like this.

I don't see that game being over at all, and you should certainly feel obligated to try. I don't understand how you can just give up with so many units still alive. Played correctly you could get 1 or 2 units, regardless of how bad you think your position was. Your cleric was still alive for God's sake, and it's one heal away from being full health. It's not like the scout was breathing down your neck. Whatever, it's your funeral.

The game looked pretty damn even to me. You both have 6 units, and he's in no position to flawless you from that point. I assume the knights were relatively high health from the lack of mention, so even those can charge in and corner either the pyro or the cleric. Not to mention the chanty you have barriered and the cleric that is close to recovery. Is he really going to send in his scout to try and take them out?

Woody, you seem like you are pretty upset with the way you played, but you shouldn't be. Bringing Worker down to 2 or 3 mobile units is almost as good as a win. You owed it to your team to continue fighting, regardless of whether you are "skilled" enough. Why are you playing this game, or this tourney is you're not confident in your ability to play?

So stop whining about how bad the game went, and about how bad you feel. We are pointing out the obvious fact that the game was not over. You did give up. Deal with it.

Woody, looks like you did some pretty hefty damage anyway, but I guess if you had fun, all well and good. This is the first TAO tournament I've actually participated in since I started playing about 2 years ago, and frankly, I'm doing it for the fun and the little bit of spice the competition gives to the game. Overall, it's been a positive experience for me already, whether I win or lose the next game.

Well, Saturday is no good for me because I coach and referee football from 9am-2pm. I'm also a commissioner, so I have to be their to setup at 7am and am home by 4pm. I also have to be at my cousins wedding at 5, and won't be back until 9 or 10, roughly. That's a full day and I'll be much too tired at the end of it to concentrate on a tourney game.

Sunday's I have church from 9am 'til 1pm. We're having our pastor and his family over for lunch and they're staying until youthgroup and evening service start . . . roughly 5:30pm. I won't be back from that until 9pm and will, again, be much too tired to play a tourney game.

I'll let you know what friday holds. Heck, I might could even stay late on thursday night in the library, and hook a game up.

Yeh i'm gmt+1 thats 6 hours differend, and i'm available between 8pm - 12pm or 1am next morning, but 2am is a bit too late ;).

Well in the weekends i can play whole day on saturday, not too early though, and sunday i play again from 10.30pm - 12pm or 1am next day.

A full explanation?Ooohkay. I'ma has the screenshot, but it was my three knights, lw, cleric, chanty vs. his two knights assassin cleric chanty bw lw scout. The game started off with him playing defensively and not attacking. He went after my assassin with his scout, eventually allowing me to prep it for a bomb. He had the choice of losing his knight, or losing his scout but me also losing a knight, and he chose to lose his knight. A little bit later with my scout at 35 hp from a scout frontal and with between 20 & 30 + blocking on it I took a front shot at his witch. His only options were a front shot from his scout and a blast from his witch. He nailed the front shot, I brought forward a knight, he blasted my scout, and i took his witch(cleric was at 1 wait turn at this point, i believe). After this he persisted in playing defense and refused to come forward and attack, so I beat down on his LW, baiting his lw with my knights so as to keep him from doing the same to me, & eventually got his down to 18 where he then barriered it. From then on it was nothing but an hour of me coming at him with three knights in different strategies and areas while he took front scout shots and passed turns. He said that he had to leave at 8:25 eastern time, and that the next time he would be able to play would be "around memorial day"
at the time he left, all units were at full health other than his lw which was at 18 & barriered, and no units had wait turn.

As to the KB/Kegs/Bax fun, this looks to be the first difficult DQ decision. Both plays sent early PMs and seem to have made good efforts to play so I'm leaning towards a double DQ tomorrow evening. I will review the evidence carefully before making a decision though. If things don't work out tonight, captains for both teams would be wise to make their cases to me in PM before DQing time.

Teh Gray vs ZADICO looks like an almost certain double DQ. I don't care if tomorrow one of them shows up and posts a PM. That isn't good enough. There will be no single DQ, neither one of them deserves that for the crappy effort they have both made. Either the game is played or both are DQed. Period.

The very first knight he attacked had some lucky blocking, I blocked a couple of low percentage shots that stalled his attack. He was on the strong side of my formation, and I got first move. Everything started against him. I even made him play from the bottom :(

He played well, did all he could under the circumstances, and as i told Mith, he played valiantly till the end. In the s/s my scout is at 2 and my bw is at 14. One of my knights was close to death, he just couldn't get the turns to work out, that's all. A great game it was, thanks again kegs.

Zander, I really hope you're kidding about letting your team down. You beat KAP, and then you take away four units from I'ma, leavin him with only two mobile attackers. If anything, I'd say you've done everything except let your team down.

Imagination should beat I'malive by nine or ten units. After that, it's just a matter of time. SelekThar is good, but there is no way he can beat nineteen/twenty units with ten.

These two lines are where I find the irony. If you guys had had the common sense to get a sub in the first place, then the fact that shadowbone (who I assume is .Z) can't play when he needs to play wouldn't screw you up so much. I can't let you change the order of your team in the middle of a round and you have no sub available so .Z or shadowbone or whoever is going to have to play his game (though I suppose you can pray that Draquist doesn't show up and you guys get another Double DQ, so then Ragnarth's replacement can play the final game and hope to win).

imagination moves through with 10 units. i will let him describe the game as i feel he will want to anyways. s/s if needed. i have a cleric chanty 3 knight 2 ward scout witch pyro set

edit: i guess he didnt want to so i will give a basic description. I knew his only chance was an assassin bomb and so i rushed down a knight to prevent that from happening early. i used a set with a somewhat forwarded barrier ward so that i could protect my units and i used a 2 mage set so that it would be extremely hard for him to set up the bomb. he went after the knight with his ass i hit and ran and barriered. now both his scout and assassin were away from his set so i took out hit lw and bw so that i could move my mages freely and he couldnt bw the assassin once he had it set up. After that i had my pyro on 12 and barriered basically in the middle of the board, he had forgotten about it and scouted his assassin to 3. i killed with the pyro then rebarriered and that was basically the game.

I will contact selekthar. He is on late at night which is my favorite time anyhow. not sure if he has a forum account but he and i see each other often enough that it wont matter.

No it doesn't, ya noobcake. You beat a guy with only two mobile attacking units. That doesn't count as a win.

Edit: @ Arturo: I wouldn't recommend forfeiting. Your opponents aren't particularly active either.

These two lines are where I find the irony. If you guys had had the common sense to get a sub in the first place, then the fact that shadowbone (who I assume is .Z) can't play when he needs to play wouldn't screw you up so much. I can't let you change the order of your team in the middle of a round and you have no sub available so .Z or shadowbone or whoever is going to have to play his game (though I suppose you can pray that Draquist doesn't show up and you guys get another Double DQ, so then Ragnarth's replacement can play the final game and hope to win).

Of course not. If you can't find the forum name, you'll advance and he won't. However, if you get the forum name and you don't PM him properly, you'll be DQed as well. As of yet, we don't know whether or not you'll get the name so it wouldn't be right to put you in blue.

He had a really offensive setup with his vulnerable units also in front. That way I could easily let my scout and knight infiltrate. Instead of attacking he was bound to defend. Not until I sacrificied my scout to kill his chanty, witch and cleric, he started attacking with his knight and scout. His other knight remained in the back.

I sacrificed my scout because I don't have to win next round, I just have to take as many units as I can. By trying to save my scout, the tables would turn with myself on the defense, making the game more difficult, creating opportunities to mess up and lose even more units.

He attacked my witch with his knight from the side and it blocked. Otherwise, if he sacrificed his knight and scout, he would have killed it. Lucky break, definitely. He still sacrificed his hurt scout to hit my witch hopefully killing it next turn, but my chanty prevented this.

He moved in his last knight to hopefully kill something but he had no chance.

It was a good effort and I hope to meet Ninai soon.

he surrendered but i do beleive i could have won that (mith add that to my wins!!!!!). Basically he needed a flawless to go through to play dabooz and i knew if i took one vital unit our team would win. So with this in mind i practiced like hell with a defensive set. for about the first 20 min he played attack and run and i played "make sure you take the first unit." Then what i hoped for, he made a bad move with his knight putting it next to my bw and so i trapped it in with 2 knights and started wailing on it. He sent his scout in to kill my pyro and draw my focus off the knight so that he could hope to take my witch pyro chant ... all that jazz with his forwarded knights scout and witch. I saced my witch and put my scout in danger for his scout, got a side block with my scout that already had a minute - blocking on it and retreated it. In the s/s i beleive all of my units except the scout are full health and the scout is at 24. His 2 knights on my extreme flank are 28 and a low 30's and his witch was about to be zapped.

He had a strange spread setup, as you can see, and I had a defensive corner setup since I didn't have a scout.

I must honestly admit I thought I had a decent chance at winning. I, however, underestimated the use of a scout and I felt truely helpless without one. Ninai could easily set up his attack including his witch and other weak units without fearing for any of my range. And his skills are quite impressive as well, so I knew from early in the beginning I probably wouldn't be able to take the win. Sorry Hool...

I could have done better though and maybe even take the win, if it wasn't for some annoying mistakes. I'm still fairly satisfied with my performance and had a great match with him. He's an excellent player and sport. It was a fun match and I'm pretty certain we'll advance.

Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays are generally good days to catch me from around 1030am - 430pm but since I am on study leave and so is my girlfriend, my plans could change quickly. I generally can't get on until very late so I could possibly play after 12midnight my time, but not much after, also depends on when my exams are. Fridays and Saturdays are generally out though as I almost always busy, Sundays aren't very doable until late at night as my parents are in and don't want me on here anymore.

This game was another example of why I dropped out of the friggen FPS grey team tryout and why I am done playing TAO after this tournament. My luck was TERRIBLE, as friggen always. Let me give some examples...he had things such as a 9% knight block. 2/2 on 20% front knight shots on my knight, front witch block, side pyro block, 1/1 on side scout block, 1/1 on stepping up and taking a 40% shot with his knight on my scout...what do I get? Nothing...ever.

At one point, I had the game won by 9...I should have lost a knight and thats it...but too bad everything always goes my opponents way when it comes to luck.

Game was complete bullcrap...I win by a LW, assassin, BW

yeah, i wish i could have played better with the +1 unit advantage but i couldn't and I'm sorry team. I got more lucky blocks than him but tried not to rely on them, and i almost messed up everything with my chanty in the end.

The only game 3 left is between Junier and Legend Z, and there is no sign of this Legend Z person. It is Friday. DQ's take place on Sunday and Legend Z will almost certainly receive a sole DQ if the game is not played on time.

Thanks Bax. I have apprised Match of our situation, and we'll await Du's unit list. I am leaving the end of next week, but at this point I don't think that should matter much. Match and Du will have more than 2 weeks to get Game 5 done, so it appears the stage is set for a heck of a showdown. Good luck to both players.

I decided this a few days ago but forgot to mention it. It occurs to me that the final will require each team to simultaneously worry about two opposing teams. As such, I'm going to give a little more time for the finals. Players will have two weeks for Game 1 and two weeks for Game 3 (a total of 7 weeks maximum instead of the usual 5). Also, in case it isn't already obvious, a team can have a different lineup for their different opponents in the finals. This would probably make sense actually, to avoid having the same players slammed and super busy every week.
