Anyone know why Omega-TeamUSA was deleted? Serg deleted it for "scamming". Just so you guys know, Omega-TeamUSa is played by a 40 year old adult. He has been playing that account for ~2 months. I doubt he was "scamming" and if there IS evidence if "scamming" was he "setup"?

The question is whether or not it was this single thing that resulted in the deletion, or whether or not there were other incidents of which we are just not aware?

Also, if there was a nice influx of screenshots of this guy doing this on a continual basis, then yes, I'd say it would end up being bannable.

The crux of the problem here is that the only people fully aware of what happened are the mods who were involved. And unless they feel like stepping up, all we have is speculation.

People have been making suggestions about making some command that forces a certain game type. Clearly that would be a lot of agreement and coding. What if, however, the challenge command simply had "stated rules" attached to it? Example: /challenge uni <Turt Alpha Rules>
Upon entering the match, these agreed upon rules can be displayed just like /stat at any time, for s/s purposes.

OK clearly it's yet another suggestion that won't go anywhere. The point however returns to lack of decent proof for these types of things.

There's nothing wrong with this. Under no circumstances do you tell anyone to press F5 in earnest. The fact that Darkness was the one behind this anonymous grey doesn't change anything--after all, what if it wasn't him? What if it was some genuinely new player that happened to ask? Would Omega's actions be any more or less justified?

The bare-bones facts here are:
1) When Darkness asked Omega how to get a Dragon, he made no specific attempt to entrap Omega;
2) Omega responded with "press f5" against a player to whom he had no prejudices, in other words, a person whom he did not know personally or he did not know knew about the f5 trick;
3) After the fact, Omega made no attempt to disassociate himself from the f5 trick.

It's his actions that got him deleted, not Darkness', so stop blaming the victim... So to speak.

No, what used to happen with Deepsea on a regular basis (provoking him and treating him like crap, then reporting him when he finally lashes out) is the TAO equivalent of entrapment. Asking someone how they get a dragon, and getting an in-game exploit in return, falls well short of that.

The only major distinction between Darkness asking and a regular noob asking is, if a regular noob asked, Omega would have gotten away with it (being that noob would have hit the button or wouldn't know to take a S/S). The fact is, moderators have absolutely no way of knowing what goes on in games without the help of players, Darkness did his part to help as several others have done before him. There is nothing wrong with that, and there never was.

I'm here to tell you right here and now that Darkness won't get deleted for this. In fact, this is vaguely similar to what got uni and I our mod positions in the first place, despite our relative lack of popularity compared to Bottle, Twelve and Warcow.

Well time to add my two sense in to this conversation....I was on my Great Lakes Gold (Sniper Reloaded) today and i saw darkness and obi-wan arguing...all i heard was somebody ask why someone would say hit F5....SO i come in and Say sumthing like this " I have told a 750 grey that has jumped me to hit F5 before so i didnt have to waste 20 minutes to gain zero stats." Anyways i was told a s/s was taken and i could get deleted.....and being the jester i am i said "HIT F5 FOR A DRAGON!!!!" Anyways....if i am banned b/c of what i said i think that is just goign a little bit too far....Why do people care so much about this game to try to get other ppl banned? Is it b/c they want to get higher stated people banned so they will lose their ranking points and the reporter might go up a few rankings? Or do they wont a certian clan to go down in the ranks and other clans to go up? Saying "press f5 for a dragon" in the lobby is not equivalent to saying "press f5 for a dragon" in-game. If someone presses f5 in the lobby, they spend 30 seconds, maximum, logging back in. If someone presses f5 in-game, they're cheated out of a game, and there is potential for totally unjustified stat change. How is that fair?

If you really have been telling greys to press F5 for a dragon, then that is totally wrong and you should be banned. If you were kidding, speak now or hold your tongue.

The account subscription has already been cancelled cause you prolly already did a s/s of you saying something stupid like "press F5" on Aggressor-TeamUSA so you can get it deleted in the future. I don't trust you, Equi or anyone else who supports Equi.
Second, YOU are the one who asked "How high do you want it?" after I gave you the password to Aggressor-TeamUSA. My answer was "get it ranked to piss off Equi". Then you said "Equi is my friend, I won't do it to piss off Equi but I'll do it for fun, etc..."

Any decent Judge (which is basically the role of the Mods) is going to use judgment and discretion. Judges do not adhere to the letter of the law in every case because they know better.
Hell, spitting on the sidewalk is against the law in California. How many tickets you see handed out for spitting and littering? Sure, cops rarely give out tickets for such minor things. But if you gave a cop some attitude or he just don't like you for some reason he will write up tickets on your ass ALL DAY. But guess what? I bet a judge will throw out/void most of them cause the Judge would have enough insight to know better.

Technically Darknub was not wrong for what he did. But it was a total punk move. The Mod who decided to move forward with it should have been more unbiased in their decision making process. Something that Equi and others fall very short on due to emotional ties to people and clans in this game. Also due to the fact that they are young decision makers.

I in no way had *anything* to do with Omega's deletion. I found out about it a few hours before it happened, seeing his name on the deletion list in the mod lounge. I didn't see the screenshot that got him deleted until it was posted here by bludz. I didn't even know Darkness was the one who submitted it until he publicly said so. I would ask that you withdraw your incorrect claim of my personal bias being the reason he is deleted.

Lol...say two people of the community are having a game. These two people are well known, as far as their attitude and in-game character. If one of them says, "Push F5," it's pretty obvious that they are joking around. Now, if one person whom is playing a grey goes on to say, "Press F5," it's hard to tell if they are joking around or not. The "F5 trick" is far too common these days and many people use it for one of three reasons. Reason one, they are just saying it for fun, which I highly doubt Omega was. Reason two, they don't want to waste time on a somebody with low stats. Reason three, the fact that they are going to lose is extremely apparent and they want to save their stats. When a mod gets a screen shot of this, they see that someone has broken the rules. I'm sure if someone got an s/s of me openly breaking the chat filter and saying discriminatory things, I would receive the same punishment Omega did. The only argument you have against this action was, "He was probably kidding." He's your clan member, it's only natural to stick up for him. In the end, this thing isn't that big of a deal. However, with your immature attitude and comments, you are only digging yourself deeper and deeper, so to speak.

You enforce the rule when someone breaks it and clear evidence of this fact is available to the judge or judges.

I can guarantee you more people get away with boosting than the F5 trick, not because either one is less wrong than the other but because people are discreet enough to not get caught. Does that make cheating less wrong, or does it mean we should let some cheaters slide because others get away with it? Of course not.

There are some situations where it's simply not worth reporting someone for (swearing is a prime example--I refuse to hang someone for occasional swearing or suggestive language, but I will if someone goes over the top/stays there), but this is not one of these cases. Even if you assume the F5 trick (or outright "scamming" or "cheating" as you will see it on the blacklist) is not something that always merits deletion, every single detail about Omega reeks of "delete"--he's been around enough to know what the F5 trick is, was facing an unknown player (undercover or not), deliberately said "press F5" in direct response to a question not at all pertaining to the F5 trick and made no attempt to relinquish his original words, and he got the sting for it.

I'm the most lenient game moderator TAO's ever had and I crack down hard on F5 tricksters. There's absolutely no excuse for someone to try this in-game, and I think even from a neutral perspective, opposing this ruling on the basis of "should not always be deleted", even when it's as clear-cut as this, reflects poorly on your clan.

Please reconsider.
