yes for me.
Question: Are the current members gonna have to play eachother again?
OR is gonna be like
the team
vs
Wack-Head, Hoolwath, Reckless, KBHolen1, Cliché, Tactoholic
And Wack-Head, Hoolwath, Reckless, KBHolen1, Cliché, Tactoholic vs everyone (including eachother obviously)
I think the second option would save some time.... Some time that we kinda need....
Fair question. I think priority should be on playing the new people but games against original team members should certainly count.

I think we already know where we stand against our fellow team members but a little practice never hurt.
Ok. Sounds good to me.
We should probably get this thing started....
Dare I say tonight would be ideal?
Simply because the sooner we have ourselves a team, the better.
At the same time though, we are still ahead of legends with our team selection, so I'm not to worried.

Why, because you're still annoyed I didn't let you join my tag team and you want to prove something to me?
Seriously, you have no idea how much I'd like to do this thing. I can't join this thing and be able to respect myself.

That doesn't have anything to do with me wanting you to join, noob. I don't have to prove anything to you.
I just want you to join. Please?
Alright, I'll stop. Lawl.

I think that nobody from the original tryouts should be allowed to try again save Cliche.
Why?
If you didn't make the cut the first time, with less difficult competition, I doubt you will make it this time, since there are stronger players put in the mix. This leads me to think that throwing the old players in there will not change the outcome of anything.
What would the first tournament be for if we let them all try again?
Nothing really. It would have been good to see some statistics on players, but it wouldn't have yielded any results at all, making it worthless. I, even though I am not a member of the team, would veto all the people who didn't make it the first time.
Cliche is an exception solely because he might have actually made the team if he had kept on playing. Yes, he lost interest. Yes, he bitched in this thread quite a bit. However, there's been quite a bit of bitching all around the board really, and I don't think that is really accurate to judge him for. He has regained interest, give him one more chance.
That being said: I'll be honest. I didn't think a second tournament was in order. The first one seemed fine to me, I was disappointed Hool/Wack didn't join, but it wasn't the end of the world. I figured this was causing a bit of drama, but we have time to organize it, so the drama will die down and we can get organized. Legends is still in the first stage of their tournament and won't be ready for quite a while. As long as we have as much time as we do to fix the team, I'm down with this, as I'd like to call it, "revision tournament." :D
I think that we should definitely try to revise the team as much as we can. The idea is to have the best team we can have. If the older team members are being stingy about their spots, there is a problem. They shouldn't be worried about what is best for them, but what is best for the team; getting the best possible picks on the team.
Lastly, I agreed with Bottle to be organizing the FPS portion of this, so that we could work together for the final event. I'd still like to be a part of the hosting, even if it really has nothing to do with the original tournament.
[Yes I noticed your note Fry, I'm just being a little more straightforward about it than before :)]

So, when do we start?
Good deal bludz.
In my personal oppinion I think Fry, bludz, and maybe bax should be the deciding factors of this.
Fry, obviously, because he is captain. Bludz obviously because he started this whole thing (along with me :p)
And bax because he is someone that *I* personally trust to make an unbiased decision. Not that I think any of the others would be bias...
He is probably the only team mate that has kept active in this thread, and not bitched.
I trust him....

After thinking about this without all the arguments going on, I cant wait to play more 'tryout' games. The previous tryout games were the most fun iv had on tao in quite awhile, they were mostly good competition, and the level of play will only be stronger this time around.

Politics suck.
Once again, FPS makes this more about how you get along with everyone and how you are perceived rather than your skill.
Half the people on your team are crap, and i would beat them 9/10 , but because of some prissy little nancy-girls I can't even try out ;)
Seriously, this game is about skill. Don't make it about personality.
FPS will NEVER win one of these tournaments if they continue to just pick their buddies. You need to step back, take the best players, and leave the drama out of it.
blah blah blah, I'm a whiny bitch.
Punishment, quite frankly you couldn't join anyway(without your personality issues), becuase you played for Legends. Pick a side, you can't be both. You are either always legends or always FPS. If you wanted to play for FPS, you shouldn't have played for legends. You embody everything that is wrong with teenagers, you are self-centered to the point few can match, and I have never seen you even attempt to look at an issue from another point of view. You quickly procede to petty insults soon after your way is not gotten, and quickly lose your temper.

Tis amazing I actually agree with Punishment. People need to realise this is a GAME not some BS government where popularity not skill makes you make the team.
Seriously this is lame. You let some-one who QUIT because they lost INTEREST have another chance. I don't give two shits if they are a good player. They should not get ANOTHER chance at this. If you want to abide by your rules.
Cliche was in the first tournament. He quit. I have read posts saying anybody playing in the first is not aloud to play in this one. Don't start making BS exceptions.
I was amazed at some of the choices of people who made the team. Some of the people on there should not be on there. But anyway, Goodluck. Even though I have spoken to about half of the team, and some have posted in the other thread I should have made it. I did not. I may not be happy with that decision because not sounding cocky, I know I am better than quite a few of the players on the current team. But I do respect the decision made.
Goodluck FPS team. I will not be following this, Because in all honestly I don't really care at the moment. I have way too much happening in my life to follow some tournament. I hope you win.
P.S. I will play anybody on the current team, and anybody who is trying out. I will keep a record just show. Hopefully you all have the balls to play me.

As i've said, I wanted to be on FPS's turtle team. The leaders of the tournament (self appointed, mind you) decided to make all the calls, and I didn't want to have to do a bunch of BS. The point is that FPS doesn't want to make their best team. They want to make a team that is all about good sportsmanship and crap like that. I am not limited to one server. If that was true, IROK and Pils wouldn't be here. They are legends players recently turned FPS. No difference. I'm not self-centered, just not an idiot. FPS is putting together a second-rate team because they want to enforce all these dumb extrenuous rules. It's not a good way to make a good team.
I am not limited to one server. If that was true, IROK and Pils wouldn't be here. They are legends players recently turned FPS.
Wrong. Just because I made a name for myself on legends does not mean thats where I started, and it certainly does not mean its my home.
And yes, I feel having a team full of people who both are skillful and respectable is something that FPS persues. And I'm glad for it...
But you act as if FPS is some kind of crazy idealistic server full of crack heads... Have you not checked out legends recently?
Bottle is taking attitude and things of that nature just as seriously as us, if not more.
Provides for a more interesting, and overall FUN experience when you don't have people that complain with every chance they get.
So with that... Take a chill pill, and try out next year.

I'm sure he is trying to create the best team. Intelligent people would try to make a good team, rather than make a happy group of prissy girls.
Seriously, it's a game, not some sort of dating service. It doesn't matter if you don't like each other.
Make the best possible team. Don't go for your buddies.

I've only played Pun once at dropless grey, for the AK vs teamusa war, and he did remarkably well. No doubt one of the top greys in the game, top 20 if not top 10. Granted, I won, but I had a handy set advantage to go with it (though I felt I played very well and earned the win).
Having said that though, it wouldn't seem proper for him to be in this. He wasn't for the legends tourney this year, so he shouldn't be for fps this year. Next year, sure, absolutely. But not this year. I don't care if he, or Geoff, is the best player in the game. I'd veto both solely on attitude in this thread. Pun, you aren't a jerk, you're just really annoyed about this and you don't know when to let go. But in this thread, you're turning into a jerk. Geoff IS a jerk and class matters. Winning isn't everything. I'd rather FPS had a team you could be proud of, that played hard, did well but lost and was respectable, than load up the biggest jerks in TAO and have them win. It's supposed to be a friendly competition, not solely about winning.

You are a good player ,and I have much respect for you.
I just don't understand why you are disallowing some of the players from participating in this tournament. I havn't signed up, or attempted to sign up for legends here. I am honest enough to sign up and do my best for the team I sign up for. I think that if you start restricting people from joining your team based on clashing personalities, that is where the problems start. I know that I can put aside my differences with anyone and play to the best of my ability regardless of who my team mates are. I am sure I am not the only one who can put aside my differences with people to support the team i signed up for. I'm the only one who can know how loyal to FPS or legends I am going to be. Nobody else should be able to say I shouldn't join based on loyalty issues.
That said,
Just brought down the gauntlet on IROK and was up 9 units to whatever he had, but i was about to ass bomb his scout. I would have ended up winning by 8. I did record the game, and I may upload it a little later so some others can watch.
5-0!!!!

Wack I will explain it in simple terms for you.
Quote 1. Cliche had his chance, He was in the first tourney he gave up because a lose of interest. The team decided people who were in the first tourney could not play in the second. Cliche was a part of the first. Thus disallowing him to try out.
Quote 2. I agree'd with Punishment on what he stated. Then I simply put across my opinion.
Quote 3. Mith was immature and decided to dis me in public. If he has a problem I would rather him pm than post it publically as it has nothing to do with the community.
If you cannot understand that, I do not know if I can dumb it down anymore for you Wack.

You made a public ass out of yourself, you deserved to be addressed publically. I've done the same with people in this thread before you. You're nothing special, you're just the first person that complained about it. Pils even thanked me for calling him out directly. As I told you in my response to your nasty PM, I can see you can't stand being called out in public so I'll try to accomodate you in the future.
Edit: People answer me this; What win's a game for someone?
A. Their skill.
B. Their attitude.
Pretty simple answer.
You asked for it, so here is the same thing I said to you in my PM, and now it's public.
What wins a game is skill, naturally. But as I said in one of my previous posts, this tournament it isn't supposed to be all about winning. Even if I was captain of this team, which I am not, I would rather stick something sharp in one of my eyes than put you on my team, even if you won every tryout game in the whole process. Because you're a jerk. You have absolutely no class whatsoever. I hope for your sake you aren't such an idiot with real life people. If I put you on my team and you lost a game, God forbid! You'd whine it up to high heaven and complain and moan about everything (at least, that's what I would worry about, for good reason, because you've demonstrated that's the kind of person you are). The tourney would be more fun (imagine that, fun being the point and not just winning!) if jerks like you stayed out of it and gentleman played the game like gentleman. Considering you don't know the first thing about being a gentleman, you should go join a tourney where it doesn't matter as much. I don't ban people from the tournaments I start even though I think they're jerks (though I am starting a blacklist from my tournies, which will consist of people that are slimeballs in tournaments) because class isn't as big a deal in my tournies as it is in FPS vs Leg thing. Obviously, I'm talking to a dead phone so I'll just stop there. Whether or not you believe me or care, you are a disgrace. You make a fool of yourself on a regular basis and you really ought to learn to think before you act.
And yes, the severity of that response is absolutely necessary considering your inflammatory question. The question implies that I should ignore your ridiculous attitude, so I need to make it very clear why your ridiculous attitude matters.
Oh, and welcome to my ignore list. It's been a long time coming (though to be fair, I will read your next post in this thread at least).

Seriously Mith, you think I am not a gentleman? How the fuck do you know this Mith? How do you know how I act in real life? You do not have a BLOODY CLUE about how I live my OWN LIFE. On the point of attitude, in the turtle tourney, several people with questionable attitudes got really pissy and quit. Geeky, after 2 games. Even if he had won those two games, he still FORFEITED 8 games. No matter how good he is, that is a loss for the team as a whole. Deepsea Warrior? Quit with 5 some games to go, because he couldn't stay out of arguments. Draquist, would have quit, but he had finished all his games. Even with subs in the last tournenment, we were still 3 games down because of this, and it gave everyone else on the team no room to maneuver. This is to all of you who believe attitude does not matter.
Skill wins games, but attitude prevents you from playing them.
"lol" sums up this argument pretty well.
EDIT: I want to shoot the person who brought the term "high horse" into this community.

It isn't news to me that some people dislike me. There are always idiots, it happens all the time. All five reps shows is that there are five people on this forum with as crappy judgment as you. If I receive a rep from someone I respect that says I've crossed a line, then it means something. If you think I'm the only one that thinks you're a total fool, you're mistaken. But something tells me you don't care about that either.
Interestingly though, if everyone thought as you did and no one thought as I did, maybe you'd be allowed in the mini tournament, or maybe you'd be on the original team. Amazingly, some people actually agree with me that you're such a fool you shouldn't represent FPS.

*Yawn* Mith, again, you are looking at yourself as if you are higher than everyone else. For what reasons? You don't have any. Stop saying people have poor judgement if they don't like you. It might just as well be great judgement, because right now you look like a total ass. And I wasn't one of those five people, either. Don't call people idiots if they dislike you, because you are just as wise as them.

Read a little more carefully steve. Saying "five people agree with me!" doesn't matter because it doesn't prove anything. I very clearly stated that I do care if someone I respect thinks I crossed a line. I'm talking in game right now with someone I do respect, who thinks I crossed a line, which matters to me.
Edit: Yeah, I agree. I let myself get out of hand. I should have ignored him. It's an area I've failed in before and one I'm still working on. I don't disagree with anything I said but I should have just dropped it.

Actually the reason why Cliche is still being discussed is partially Punishment's point. Cliche's skill.
He's apparently much better than the rest to still be a candidate.
That's why you are contradicting yourself. You should endorse Cliche still being considered because of his skill, because that's what you're agreeing on with Punishment.
Seriously Mith, you think I am not a gentleman? How the fuck do you know this Mith?
I think this helped.
Mith grow the fuck up.

Why should I endorse Cliche? He has his chance, just like everyone else did in the 1st tourney. Then the descision was made to not let those people try out again. Cliche WAS in the first tournament. So I do not see why he should be aloud a second chance.
EDIT: Wack I still fail to see how Mith can come to the conclusion that I am not a gentleman without meeting me in person or knowing any of my own context. He came to it over an online forum, who knows I could just be posting this for some entertainment. Why would I care what he thinks? He lives half way around the world from me. Because it's Drama. Liven up's the forums doesn't it?

I thought character shouldn't play a role but just skill, like you mentioned earlier?
His decision to quit has nothing to do with skill. So if you let his decision to quit be the reason why he shouldn't be on this team (because he would have made it otherwise), you actually don't agree with Punishment.
It's irrelevant what the team's decision was because apparently, according to you and punishment, it should all be about skill. If that would be so, Cliche should get another chance.
So either you agree with Punishment and endorse Cliche or disagree with Punishment and be against Cliche. You can't be both.

Samething applies to Cliche and people who were in the first tourny. Either you allow anyone to join this tourny again, or disallow anyone who participated in the first tourney. You can't just do partially of each.

Do you not understand that everyone else in the first tournament was judged upon their merits, and I wasn't? That is the ONLY reason I'm allowed to participate.
Seriously, Solingro, drop it. I'm participating in this tournament unless I get vetoed out, and that's that. I don't see what the big deal is, all I'm going to do is strengthen the former team if I make it. What is so bad about that?
solingro
06-20-2007, 03:11 PM
Same with allowing Punishment, Geoff, etc... would probably strengthen the team but that's not what we are talking about.
To be clear, it's nothing against you but I just see people saying one thing and then making exceptions. You weren't judged but like what I said earlier, so if anyone of those who didn't make the cut but were close, they could've dropped out earlier and still be eligible for this? They should be punished for sticking till the end? It just doesn't sound fair to me.
I really don't care what happens in the end, but as far as I know, several people did veto you. But pil went ahead and made that tourny thread almost trying to rush this thing simply because he wants you in. But I will drop it, not like a team member really has any more say in this than anyone else.

Read what I said about attitude. Then tell me how we can possibly risk someone quitting in the middle of the tourney, or someone blowing up over something little. The team can afford someone going 3-7. It can't afford someone playing 2 games, 4 games, 6 games and then quitting. We can't afford a disqualification.

I know I am not the only person with an 'attitude problem' who would still play all their games.
I don't avoid games. I have no track record for this, and I think much lower of people who join some sort of big tournament and quit in the middle. It ruins it for everyone.
Basically, not only people who are unfriendly don't play their games. There are plenty of friendly, but hardly active people as well.

I'm not, I'm just refering to why attitude problems in general cannot be afforded, not matter how skilled. That is why I am fine with you competing, it will give us time to decide whether or not you have a problem.
