I thought there was going to be a revelation about why some people become ghosts while others don't. Or maybe I just missed that part.
Good book, though. Ending was too tidy, but it was still well done.

I just bought the book today. I plan on reading it when I get home. Haven't heard anything about it yet, that's why I haven't read this thread. I don't want the ending spoiled for me.

Yeah, that was mysteriously absent. I was looking forward to an explanation of that part of Rowling's world. Oh well.

I loved the ending. After pondering it some more and thinking about the amazing Christological parallels, I've become convinced that this book is by far the best of the series. She really pulled out all the stops, parallels EVERYWHERE. Lots of Nazi parallels too.

Also a lot of Communism Parrallels. Blacklisting at the ministry? Umbrigde=McCarthy. Help me or I will blacklist you as a half-breed/muggle/squid/mudblood.

I finished reading it today, got it 2 days ago. The Canadian (UK) verison (same story, only different font sizes, i think) is only 607 pages, though. I shed a tear or two at the end, lol. Excellent book, i loved the way it turned out. :)

They explained the whole ghost thing in book 5 aka "The Order of the Phoenix". Its near the end after Sirius dies, Harry asks Nearly Headless Nick if Sirius would come back as a ghost. Then Nick explains the whole shinanigan. This is right before Harry leaves Hogwarts for the summer

I just noticed on the last page of the book right before all the children leave for Hogwarts. Ron says something like I'm extremely famous. It says Albus, Ginny, Hugo, and Lily all laughed.
Who was Hugo?

Ron and Hermiones son.

They didn't mention him at all until that one time.

Yeah they did "Back on the platform, they found Lily and Hugo, Rose's younger brother"
In my copy thats about the 2nd last paragraph on page 604.

I started on the third, then went to the first and went up from there.
Yeah...I didn't realize that Prisoner of Azkaban wasn't the first one until way later. I was like "What happened to his first two years?"

Good book. This thread was bad though. Next time people should put "SPOILERS" in the title. Vrrr. It was fine till the book came out though.

O rly? That's funny because the other thread clearly said "SPOILER ALERT," while your's did not. You, sir, are an idiot.
Oh and I'm sure other people have read it? ;)
thats not even right...Harry never "dies"
Oh yeah? well sorry for my mis-combobulation or are you just trying to hide it and say im wrong cause you don't want people to KNOW what happens eh?

Harry will use Kreacher's ties to the malfoy/black/all other bad families to gain access to one of the horcruxes.

Hagrid or Lupin will die.
possibly Tonks.
I think that Fawkes will play a part too.
heh, i did get something right.
Woah, talk about flash backs...
I'm actually going to miss this series, was always exciting reading the new book when they came back, and the anticipation before a new one would come out. Last one I thought lived up to expectations, except for the end, I thought the ending was lame, both the last wrap up with the years after the book, and parts of the last few chapters, like certain aspects...
Gah, this is hard trying to talk about the ending without REALLY talking about the ending...
Although, the ending battle was tight.

i found the ending of every book to be the same (spoilers upcoming). Harry does something that doesn't really make sense and no one understands, and then someone has to explain to him why it was magicked in his favor. Cept in the last one, instead of harry passing out and dumbledore explaining everything later, harry tells the reader before he fires. I dunno. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the series - I just thought the ending was a little anticlimactic. I felt the death of nagini was better than He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Noobed.

Yeah, that's basically how I felt. The end of the series was symbolically the end of my childhood, and it just felt so... un-fulfilling.

This gave me goosebumps reading it, just now. I said this so many times, over and over, after reading the book. Even weirder is that a lot of people didn't understand what I meant at all.

my guess is that it was the peace of "you know who" that was inside harry if i remember right it was said it was to late for him in the book. which could referance the fact that he just kill that part of him.
