The Decreasing Amount of Vets on Banff These Days

Dear all Banff Members,
I'm not quite sure if anyone else who plays Banff recently has noticed this, but I have realized that barely any veterans go on Banff anymore :(. I remember back in 05' when I first started out, how there were a numerous amount of vets that were very helpful and knowledgeable. It saddens me to see most of them gone because they were the one's who made the game fun and enjoying. These circumstances have made me think about whether to quit TAO and move on. Who knows... this is just my thoughts on the matter. I just want to say thank you to those who remember the good ol' days and maybe someday people will start coming back ;).

I totally agree with The One i was going to say the same thing. I noticed that other day that all the Vets and legends are gone. They either left to other servers or left tao as a whole. Banff has been taking a bad rep, so people are not motivated to come to this server.

I started playing around Jan-Feb '05. I don't consider myself a vet yet, but i've noticed that it's REALLY hard to find a good game in banff nowadays. Things were better before, back when the lobby was packed with good players. Now, the most players you'll find in the lobby is about 25, half of which are cyberers.

Yea, the decreasing amount of veterans does suck, ive been here since before there were stats...and i took a year break from the end of '04 to the end of '05, and when i came back the game had completley changed, new players, new units....BG was dead, and some of the best players in this game had either retired or gone inactive...

The game is changing, and yea, it sucks, but you guys have to go with it, cause theres no stopping it

Tao is dying, the reason is it is not evolving,and no new units are being created. I sincerely hope someone does something, or looks at many of the beautifuly made units in the CAU section.

with the exception of the 1st turn wait time and the blocking % being shown, nothing in tao is changing.

If WOW did not change many people would get sick of it and leave, i know seed is cool, but i presume the man has other priorities to tend to.

It's not dying. This ad system, and the link to it on half of these dumb "I am so bored" sites keep it from failing. There are new players everyday.


As for the Vets, well, they fade in time, for the hell of it. Simple as that.

It actually is getting sad on Banff, and I'm sure it's not the only server, but you really don't see many oldies around much anymore, not highly active for that matter. As I'm on sometimes I'm the longest running one on, It just feels odd, I'm hardly old, I started early '05.. (my memory is terrible I can't be really accurate)..It's priorities are diminished too, everyone has such a hard time finding games and nice people, no wonder people would quit. Freakin' cybermonkeys, noobs. :(
Although as CertifiedDORK said, some Vets are still around, and rockin' it old skool, T-Solo, CD and me are running a clan on Banff, tryin to keep it old skool, haha...hit me up If you're ever on Banff. ;)

There's still some vets that hang around GL. Not too many though. I miss the old days though when I first started back in December of 03. The people I miss are just too numerous to name. Though the main ones I miss are dark_ash_h50 and 2xfire. I miss Big X to. It's been years since I've seen him.

ok I know I am not that old on banff or even TAO I've only been playing for about 1 year and 3 months but yes it is sad even to see the people that aren't vets that were nice people gone.

i remember when i started the first time i played on banff the lobby was fun there were almost always nearly 40 people online the golds were pretty friendly and it was easy to find a game with someone who doesn't do the push F5 or be like lets cyber every 10 seconds.

now a days I only know like 5 greys that behave really well and then the rest like noted earlier spam the fake love to eacother and i haven't went a day on banff for the past 4 months without seeing at least 10 different cyberers quite frankly its just pathetic

Well now that I finally know that it's him, I might have to get 2xfire to come back. I kind of doubt it, but it's worth a try. With Big X back, he just might.

I'm also very tempted to try to revive the old Rebels clan. Once I am able to get some more free time that is. I would also have to have most of the old Rebel alumni support on this.

It depends on what you consider a vet, but I would have to agree with you guys, although I havent really been playing long enough to know many vets besides the really well known ones. I have only been playing for about 8 months now, and I have already seen many go. But, as many go, more come, and I know we still have lots of helpful and knowledgable people left on Banff.

I think that Banff has suffered greatly because of the semi-retirement of most of the guys from Strategic Insomniacs and the implosion of Netjak. When Netjak and SI were going at each other, Banff was the place to be. But we grow up, get new jobs, get out in the real world, and stop playing because time says no. 2004/5 was the hayday and now we're all just standing around wishing the fun was back :D

03 through early 05 was the time to play this game. With the Big names getting tired of this game, or just disappearing this game has become a slump. I still play because I want to see the glory days come back which I am starting to think won't happen. I remember when BG was the dominate force on GL, but when it died, alot of vets left the game, same with The Elite. The slump of NJ and SI over the years has also taken a really big hit to the game.

Banff will always rise above the other servers in its past, some very good players were newbs in Banff at the start an formed from there, not saying the other servers didnt but some of the better respected players have. I use to play GL, but it was boring. An i switched to Banff to play with Bludhoundz, way back in ChaosHounds. :cool:

I know it happened, I remember it. How can you claim that it never happened, I don't see it...
