Been thinking about it for some time, what joo think? And The Wild, u better not say, be more creative, look at the knight and archer, very simple characters.

I like this twist, it can hit an opponent from further away (than beast rider), but it cannot run as far as a Beast Rider nor hit opponents behind others. Yet it can hang around better than an Assassin, or a Beast Rider.
Give us an Armor % and let's see whats cookin.
I actualy like this! very simple, not flashy, but a welcome addition to the CAU compendium.
This unit rocks because....
1) good blocking
2) medium high hp
3) great range......you could probably hit a pesky mage without moving (if mage wanted to hit more of your units)
4)It would fit in the tao theme and is balanced
5) Has advantages and disadvantages that make it balanced
I give it a 9.8/10 i love the stats, perhaps give it 12% armor so it will not die in 2 knight hits.
But please give us more background on this spearmen......
Maybe he is a beast of some sort? (goblin, spearwolf?...or a lizard?)
OVERAL GENIUS AT IT'S SIMPLEST.
And another mele character is always welcome in my books.
Decent stone rusher unit?

I just see a mix between a Scout and a Beast Rider. I think the recovery time is arguable, but it could pass as a balanced unit, though I think it shouldn't have to follow LOS rules. However, it isn't very creative. :-/ Very nice first attempt, though!

You see a beast rider, i see a SPEAR MAN!
It has 40 hp like a scout, 18 power like a scout
It has the blocking of an assassin, and power of an assasin
It has the movement of a knight, as well as recovery in comon.
And it has the POTENTIAL RANGE EQUAL TO THE BEAST RIDER!
What i see here is a strategic unit that fits into a nice mele sandwich...
it is more durable than a beast rider, but not as "potentialy versatile"...
Although the beast rider can run away more effectivly, the spearman does not need to get as close to deal his damage.
I see a good unit.

hello all, I'm Calmador, a great tao player (1300+) and my name is Israel. Never visited the forums before and when I did I really liked this section (create a unit). Now I added armor % and a special ability. Hope the special doesnt over power him but I thought I'd put that in for the discussion.

Specail abbility: Hold formation
Takes 3 turns when activated, spearman will hit/stop any opponent coming within his range of attack for 2 turns but you can't move him until turns are over and he wont move for other characters when in this mode. So a knight is comming to kill your witch, defend mode on, and witch is safe behind or within spearmans range.
Thoughts? Opinions? Improvements?

I'm changeing the specail ability.. too powerful
Take 3 turns away and hits/stops only 2 times, not for two turns, theres a difference
and I think theres should be a limit of only having only 2 spearmen in a game, ooook
Thoughts? Advice? Improvements? I may have created most of it but everyone here might use this unit someday so, feel free to add something

(Note: He has a lance and shield)

ook, thoughts, advice, improvements, you may be using this unit someday so you can add something in if it helps, improving him (balanceing him)

This unit was superb before the special attack.
This unit does not need a special (But it's your unit)... infact it does excedingly well without it.
You should allow as many spearmen on field as you want.
Think of how awesome a 3 KNIGHT 3 SPEARMEN 2 SCOUT 1 CLERIC AND A FROST SET WOULD BE!
This unit serves a great purpose as a ranged defender and a mid scrimage fighter...even an infiltrator!
It is very solid unit on it's own. but even an armor rating of 12% would still make this unit superb.. as the knights would only do 19 damage to this unit and it's high blocking would prevent a fast death at the knights hand.
But 18% is solid too, but might be a tad on the strong side... i dunno... ALL I KNOW IS I LOVE THIS UNIT! THANX CALMADOR!

I still think it shouldn't have to follow LOS. Perhaps he can throw a spear over units to hit his target. Just having strategy in mind.

The spearmen make up the middle ranks of the human race. Trianed well in combat, loyal to thier kingdom, and reliable in all situations, they pick up thier lances to thrust into enemies that dare try to conquer thier kingdom. Serving their nation as guards and as warriors in the battle field. The spearmen are suited exceedingly well for defending and attacking.
Appearance: Has thin body armor, he'll be about the size of the scout but a little buffer. Helmet looks like a spartan (from movie 300) helmet but without the red thingy on top. Has a spear and a shield, spear in right hand and shield in left.
The following link is somewhat how I vision him, except for the head and helmet, just cover up the head with your hand k lol Also, keep in mind that his armor is 12%, I would've choosen thick steel body armor but its 12% ok. Oh and a longer spear too, long enough for 3 tiles ya know...

And about having a limit of spearmen, the only reason I said that is cause with the special ability I added in, if you got many spearmen, they'd be unstoppable but if theres no special like the one I last mentioned, then it'd be ok to have as many asyou wanted.

I think this unit is just about done, least I think so lol :D

when creating a unit you need to think weather or not people are going to think "well thats just the same as the (fill in unit here)" before posting u want to make sure that u show at least 3 differences and also when i scrolled down i noteced u did some changes, but alot of peeps dont scroll down after reading the top part so try to just change the top part and post when u made changes to it. also when i make units i find it easier for others when i post the blocking in the front, side, and in rare occasions the back, otherwise people may believe that the unit blocks _% on all sides. i also find it easier if u put the waiting time if they move, attack, and move+attack in some cases this can make alot of comfusion leave from the people who are reading it so the people who dont usually understand that the movement is just for attacking and you have to rule off that they then know what you mean. (i did not proof read this so there may be some parts that dont really make sense or their may be mispellings)
